So just a few clarifications cause the show won't say much more about it and otherwise you'll always be confused (I've seen it happen to other people). Everything you saw during the episode was literal. Nothing was a metaphor, everything was really happening. Rachel and Bam were outside the Tower (in the scene were they were running at the start) and when you see the huge ass doors open those were the Tower's doors, so next scene they are INSIDE the Tower. I know the wording they use for the subtitles can be confusing and may make it seems that all of this tests are to start climbing the Tower (as in they're not yet climbing it). But no, they're already climbing. The floor where the test with the White Steel Eel and Ball and Headon and Yuri happens is the 1st floor of the Tower (one that only outsiders from the Tower start to climb from). So everytime you see in the subtitles that they say "in order to climb the Tower" it would be better worded as "in order to KEEP climbing the Tower". And Bam is an Irregular because he comes from OUTSIDE the Tower. He opened/ the Tower opened itself to him due to his "power". You can think of the Tower as a sort of independent world that somehow can connect to other world (or others, we don't really know). And the rest you'll discover along the way most likely. But do pay close attention to what they say, because the ones explaining things will normally be people from inside the Tower (as in born and lived there their whole existence), so they tend to explain things like they're basic knowledge that everyone knows (excecept clearly Bam and us) and will be slightly vague about it (cause they think that certain things are already known therefore they don't explain them cause they assume you know them already). Some people see this as a "flaw" of the show because it may make some things slightly confusing (due to the vagueness), but I think it's great worldbuilding to show that for these people all of this is their everyday life and you (Bam) have to catch up and get on their level. And even if certain concepts you don't get, don't worry about it. They're probably not immediatly important and they'll most likely will be revisited in later seasons (I'm sure season 2 will reexplain certain important concepts for its arc). And with this said. I hope you enjoy! I think this is a nice introductory 1st season to "initiate" you to this world and it plants a lot of intrigue and questions to make your brain think about shit for future stuff. And also to get to know our characters and their motivations moving forward. So enjoy the ride and don't sweat the little details too much! ^^
So bam doesn’t know much outside of what he got taught by Rachel (blonde hair) he never had aspirations, virtues, or any motivation- a blank canvas pretty much. She taught her all that so for him she’s like a mother figure as you can see when he was stuck in a cave and trying to break it. So he doesn’t like her in a romantic way but a familiar love. Not sure if you guys will see this!
YESSS FINALLY 🤣 One of my fav animes of all time, one of my small handful of 10/10 animes. One of the best things about it is how mysterious the entire world is. Ur questioning everything up until the last episode
The door opening will make a lil bit of sense next episode but pretty much Headon (rabbit dude) chooses who to open the door for and those people are called regulars while ones who force the door open are called irregulars who can bring harm to the tower. That’s why Headon gave him such a hard test for a beginner
I think as far as we know Headon does not open the doors of the Tower to anyone. The people he chooses are always already INSIDE the Tower (because they were born in the Tower). He just brings them to the Inner Tower, but there is no "doors" for that. The only ones that are known (and I say known cause things can always change as we get more info) to open the doors of the Tower are people from outside of it, if they have enough power to do so.
YES! YES! YES! All I will say is, of you have time, check out the manwha for s1 when you have a moment. The anime was good but they cut out lots of stuff, some of it vital and important to the story.

So to clarify the princess couldn't go to the testing area. Which is the area where everybody unaliving is currently at or any floors soon as they pass said floor and up that is also a testing area.
the show doesnt really explain things well. but bam existed in a place all alone since he was born. he tried to escape that place but couldnt but that girl rachel kept coming down to visit him where ever he was stuck and teach him things but he couldnt go up to where she and other people lived so yeah she is the only person he ever knew. they both entered the tower thats what those big doors are. also the princess and the navigator guy who helped them already climbed the tower. its explained right away in the manhua but for some reason they dont explain that. also the black march weapon says it will lend him her power only once, so its not like he can spam its power. and u need to take tests to go up floors in the tower. also they never explain it so just a little clarification on the test bam took. the stuff that giant eel was swimming in is suppose to be really dense and hard to move around in. because yes it was in spawning season and to protect their young they go to a place filled with that really dense stuff so people cant easily go there. but clearly bam was moving fine in it, which is not normal. so thats a hint towards him being highly resistant to that stuff
i still hate the fact that they make it looks like yuri and black march interested in bam just because he's cute, that's not the case in original source 😢
I'd recommend watching Aninews Tower of God but scenes from episode 6 after you finish season 1 since that's when the anime starts rushing through the webtoon and cutting content.
Personally, I really like Tower of God but the anime version is very unkind with the storyline. Some of the information were left out, etc. I kinda recommend you to read beginning part of the webtoon to fully understand the system (or the universe)

Tower of God has one of the best World Building and Characters in the whole of Manwhas. Its a litten bit like the One Piece of Manwhas
