    Great idea I’ve done 2x Camino’s now Francis’s and the Portuguese coastal. I travel very light around about 6kg all in After watch your vid I am super excited as I have decided to give the lumbar pack a go on the premativo next year. Thank for the tip. Great vlogs

      Thanks. It’s a great idea but only if it fits what you want to bring.

    Super smart way to do Camino, 100% agree with you on everything. I did my first Camino with a lumbar pack (Osprey) and it was not comfortable for me, but it's a GREAT idea. Nowadays I'm using an Osprey Daylight 20lt and I find it more versatile because after Camino I normally take a few days to travel around Europe and the Lumbar pack just don't do good in city environment. Congratulations on this great video!

      Thank you! It's fun to hear another person tried the lumbar pack. 20L is a great sized bag.

    Good idea! I had been thinking of grabbing the Evadict 15l Trail Running vest from Decathlon and doing an ultra lite trip of two weeks. I live on the northern route and I see people everyday with crazy big backpacks. When they get sore feet they blame their footwear and never think it could be the weight they are carrying.

      Hahaha we’ve been talking about doing the exact same thing. Ultralight packing (less than this!) and speed walking the route in two weeks. It’s about 55km a day. So funny that you’re on the same track.

      Thanks so much. It doesn’t have to be this small but less is usually more!

    I'm really impressed with this setup! I love my lumbar pack, though it's a larger one from Mountainsmith. But, I have the backpack version of your flex lumbar from Sierra Designs - the Flex Capacitor - and yeah, that flexibility is truly impressive. Definitely made some notes about some of the incidentals you brought, like your upgraded towel and the flat-pack sandals. Thanks for the great material!

      Hey Lucas. Thanks so much. Yeah the Sierra designs lumbar pack is a GAME CHANGER. I can’t actually believe it works so well, but it really does. The new towel is fantastic. Excited to test the sandals more too. I actually tried the mountainsmith lumbar pack a while ago but it was just too big. It kept pulling away from my body. Smaller is definitely my preference. I’ve got to take a look at the Flex Capacitor bag though. Thanks for the tip!

    Hey Sean. I really like you and Laney’s Camino expertise and advice. I walked The Frances in 22 from SJPD to Santiago. Here’s where I could use your advice. I’m planning to start in SJPD again in September (as I did last time). My goal is to walk to Leon then find some transportation to Oviedo then do the Primitivo to Santiago. I’m also going to try it with a Lumbar Pack. I’ll be 67 when I begin my journey. I live in the Rocky Mountains and am in really good shape. My question is, do you think that route combination would be a little excessive?

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Місяць тому

      That's a fun itinerary! You can also walk from Leon to Oviedo on the Camino de San Salvador (otherwise, there's a bus you can take, the Alsa bus).The only issue with a lumbar pack and your route is that the time of year is a bit late in the season. The Primitivo is a mountain route and if you think you'll have any weather at all, please make sure to pack enough warm clothes.
      After walking to Leon, you'll be in great shape for the Primitivo. Buen Camino!

    This sounds like a rad idea. Might give it a try if I go for a third Camino

      Thanks! It really really was. If you can streamline your gear it’s absolutely awesome and makes even long days a lot more enjoyable.

    By far the craziest lightest pack I've ever seen for the Camino. Bravo 👏I'm assuming you will still be filming. Are you taking the DJI Pocket you had a while back, something different or is this so minimal you are sticking to shooting on iPhone. Or is Lainey carrying tech on her pack.

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  Рік тому +1

      Haha thanks. It’s pretty teeny. I’m on the Frances right now and I’ve actually made it a little smaller during the hike! We’ve just been filming on our phones which works great and Lainey has added a small tripod to her pack which we use once a day maybe for a steady shot of us together. But yeah. Smaller is waaaaay better. Videos of our recent Camino coming soon!

    Great video! Do you use inserts or orthotics in your shoes or just the Altras as is? Also, how much bigger do you get your camino altras compared to your day to day shoes! Great content, thanks for posting!

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  9 місяців тому

      Thanks. I just wear the Altras as is. No insoles or anything. I went true to size and it worked but it was right on the edge. Just bought another pair and went up half a size.

    Question for you guys....what do you bring with you on the trail for vlogging (e.g., mic, camera, selfie stick, etc). Thanks!

    • @DaysWeSpend
      @DaysWeSpend  10 місяців тому +1

      Great question. I (Lainey) usually carry our stuff since Shawn's bag is too small. We bring a tripod...and that's usually it. We brought a microphone on our recent Camino but only found ourselves using it a few times.
      Tripod: amzn.to/3uEiQVm
      Magnetic phone mount: amzn.to/3uPPZ0E
      Rode Videomicro Microphone: amzn.to/47E7WO2
      We film on our iPhones in 4K 24fps

    What's the smallest Jetpack and/or Anti-Gravity device you guys recommend? I mean the lightest one... something that tic-tac thing the US Navy keep videoing over the ocean would be in awe of. Thanks.

    I can't stand wearing a lumbar pack. These were big in the nineties. Hurt my back.

      They’re definitely not for everyone but I’m a big fan! The key is to keep it as light as possible.
