Lambs wool is amazing...on my first Camino I got a blister almost right away between my big toe and the one beside. I packed the area with lambs wool and was able to continue on for 3 weeks! Learned a lot from that first adventure. No blisters on my second Camino, and gearing up for my third. Always nice to see how other people approach their packing. Cheers
Using your minimal kit to put together my list. I do a ton of backcountry backpacking across the US. Seeing your load out was very useful and informative. Appreciate the video
That was utterly brilliant! I will apply a lot of what you suggested. I plan to camp out with a tarp over half the days so I have learned now how to cut unnecessary weight in other areas. Merino wool is the way to go. :) Thanks for a great video.
‘Put them on your hands and have the worst puppet show ever’ 🤣🤣 Thanks for this list. Doing my first solo Camino (Portuguese) in two weeks and will def use your packing tips. Didn’t consider not taking a sleeping bag but might now make do with my silk liner. Cheers!
Thanks for the inspiration, you are almost as minimalistic as Artis Guru - that guy claims in his videos that he has only 3 items in his bag(!)... What do you think from your experience, is it even possible in real life?
Hey, John. Western Rise makes awesome stuff. The pants are slim but definitely not tight in the thighs. I’ve worn pants that have more give and stretch than these, but on the Camino I actually like pants that are more durable. They fit great. Would wear em again!
Thanks for this list Shawn. I hope to do my first camino next year and with as light a backpack as possible. What was the total weight of the backpack with that content?
Hi Shawn, I noted that you didn't use any fanny bag (waist pouch to keep cash, credit card etc.). So how you keep those valuable stuff with you or when you sleep? 😅
Thanks for watching. I do use a fanny pack, but when I hike, it's in my backpack. For sleeping, I put my valuables in the fanny pack and either sleep with it inside my sleep sack, or clip it to the bed frame next to my head.
I'm looking at doing the Camino in 2021. Did you spend an involuntary night outdoors at all? I hear many albergues are getting so full that if you are a slower walker, you may end up without a room ... and need a sleep kit to stay outside.
Hi Hunters, we never had to spend a night outside. The few times we had trouble getting beds we walked to the next town or paid for a more expensive place. However, 2021 is a holy year. It will be extremely crowded. You can make reservations, wake up earlier, end your day earlier, etc. there’s always a solution if you ask for help. We made a whole video on this with some extra tips: ua-cam.com/video/q2NihKLdfuQ/v-deo.html

Thanks for watching! Lambs wool is the BEST!
Buen Camino!

Thanks so much. Glad it helped. We’re big fans of your hiking videos, so it’s great to connect.
@@DaysWeSpend glad to hear that!
What a great idea the card game! Thumbs up for that one
Thank you 🤗 It's still our favorite game.

Thank you! We’re so glad you liked it. Let us know how the tarp camping goes. Buen Camino!
Very nice video is magic it is important to know what to carry in the backpack
Thank you!
Thanks for a great video very helpful! Im curious how much did your bag weighed when it was full? Thanks again.
Thanks so much! I’ve actually downsized to an even smaller bag (a 7 liter waist pack!) but this version weighed around 10-12 pounds when it was full.

Thanks for watching. Do you have a link to the Artis Guru video? It’s probably possible but also sounds a bit extreme.
Thanks....... I was just checking out those pants. They look really skinny. I'm your size...did you find them too tight around the thighs??

The “Ga-fleece-ia” was pretty clever not going to lie
Ha! Thank you.
Just missed you. We started in Irun in Aug 2019
How did you like the Norte Route?
@@DaysWeSpend Loved it! Harder than the Frances but well worth the trip. Only saw a few pilgrims a day.
@@JB-ys8mj That's how we felt. :)
@@DaysWeSpend With the exception of our shoes (Altra Lonepeak 4.0 Mid Mesh) we have almost the same stuff.
@@JB-ys8mj Great minds think alike! I love my approach shoes, but I'm considering a lightweight trail shoe for the next one
Can i really do the Camino if i don't have any Merino?
Hahaha nice poem. And yes, of course!
Do you use the shoes to shower in the bathroom in Alberge?
Sometimes. It really depended on how new/clean the Albergue was. Lainey always wore her shower shoes, but I’m not very particular -Shawn
Thanks for this list Shawn. I hope to do my first camino next year and with as light a backpack as possible. What was the total weight of the backpack with that content?
Thanks so much. We didn't get a chance weigh our bags but it was probably about 12 pounds with food and water.
Is there a guidebook you would recommend?
We used 2 different apps. The Wise Pilgrim and the Buen Camino app.

Helpful but the out of sync soundtrack makes it VERY hard to sit through.
