Congratulations on being one of the few UA-camrs that doesn’t insist on the camera being on his face but rather on the dogs working and the beautiful hunting terrain
Just found channel, nothing better than watching a good shorthair do their thing. I have 2 myself(mother and son). Had the same problem at the beginning of season smashing birds with my 12. Switched back to my 20 I use for ruffed grouse with 3 in #5 or #6 and haven't ruined one since
I grew up bird hunting with my dad and our Brittnay Spaniel/English Pointer mix. Haven't done much in the last 30 years, I admit I miss it and need to get back into it.
Genuine question. Why do most upland game hunters use and over/under for hunting? Wouldn’t you want to use a pump or semi auto to get more rounds off? Or is it a thing of 2 quick shots because by the time you get a third they are to far away. Just asking because I use a pump but have been wondering about switching.
The main reason I shoot and over/under is because I shoot it all summer training dogs. I've always wanted to get a 20 gauge semi auto, but I am hesitant to get one because I shoot the over/under well.
@@cjroutdoors4138 Gotcha gotcha. Just got myself a chocolate lab this year as my first dog and have had him out a few times and just learning the rope as a handler. Just trying to see if there’s a reason lots of people shoot over/under

Yup, I try my best to highlight the dogs. Thanks for watching!

I shoot a 20 for all my upland hunting. It seems like a 12 is overkill when you are hunting over pointing dogs. Thanks for watching!
Nice work!!
Thanks!

It is a lot of work, but it is rewarding when everything works out. Thanks for watching!
Cool video! The hen sitting and not flying, the ally hoop fetch, and Nyx continuing to progress!
She is coming along. Thanks for watching!
It's a lot of fun to see how Nyx is progressing.
Yeah, it has been fun watching her progress throughout the season. Thanks for watching!
Pen raised? Or wild?
These are wild.
Nice video. Might head down there over Christmas to do some hunting with Dustin .
That should be fun. I have been seeing a lot of birds down there.
@@cjroutdoors4138 Dustin been doing good. I'm looking forward to go down there. It will be the first time down there.
@timothybrandlin3155 What area are you going to be in? I am always up on the northwest corner of the state.
Nice dog work. Always enjoy your videos.
thanks for watching!
As always great dog work. I enjoy your videos. I took my GWP to Montana in late October and the birds were sitting fairly tight there too
It is always fun when the birds are sitting tight. Thanks for watching!
Great video CJR. Glad to see Nyx coming along so well. Next time, let that other fellow shoot one, will ya?🤣
Haha, I will try not to next time. Thanks for watching!
Great video, nothing better than the rush of the flush!
It is tough to beat a bird getting up at your feet. Thanks for watching!
Why are you still shooting when you had your limit? Iowa is not a party hunt state for pheasants

Did your buddy get a shot?
No, he was having one of those days where you are never at the right place at the right time.
Well done as usual.
Thanks!
