I could translate everything, but I guess to sum things up they are talking (very heatedly) about Italian politics of the '80s (the Pentapartito, which was a very debated alliance of 5 Italian parties with very different ideals, ranging from communism to Catholic conservatorism) some people (like the couple featured here) thought of It as a scandal, some others (like Elio's mother) thought It was "il compromesso storico" (it's an actual specific expression used to indicate this alliance, but It cuuld be translated into something like "the historic compromise"). The woman tries to ask other people at the table about their opinion on this, but she Is told they are American, so they wouldn't know, to which she replies "American doesn't mean stupid". During the conversation the Italian woman tells Annella she has changed sice inheriting the villa, the woman's husband says this has nothing to do with what they are speaking of, Annella tells the woman that she is an asshole etc... So they kind of "insult" each other, but, coming from an authentic italian, this Is our basic lunch discussion about politics 😉 at the end of the discussion it's basically clear they are not mad at each other. Sorry for writing so much, I Just find this scene very interesting. I love how clueless Elio, Oliver and the father all are, they feel so uneasy ahahahaha.
Amo follemente questa scena💙
