  • If you have been eyeing the new Silhouette machines, but can't decide between the Cameo 5 and Curio 2, you're in the right place! We're going to look at the pros and cons of each machine, including features, special functions, add ons and price point.
    Wondering how much one of these will run?? Yeah, we're going to go over that as well. If neither of these machines fit within your budget, we spend a few minutes looking at lower priced options as well. I still love my Cameo 4 and they are running specials right now to clear them out!
    If you still want the latest and greatest, check out the Portrait 4. It has a lot of the new features, but the smaller price tag comes with a smaller cutting area.
    Which one will you choose?

    Thank you for explaining this so well. I was considering the curio but didn't realize that it was limited to 12×12. I do like the etching and other capabilities.🤔

      There are definitely pros and cons to each machine. That's why I end up buying all of them. 😂

    Thank you for this excellent comparison . I have a Cricut Maker 3 and am having difficulty with the drawing feature.
    Does either of these machines draw better than the other ?
    Thanks a million !

      The Cameo sketches a little faster, but the quality is the same on both machines, I'd say.

    Ive the cameo 4 and the curio 2...at least now i can etch on metal and acrylic without having to use 3rd party tools..

      That was the reason I got the curio as well. I wasn't going to get the cameo 5, but I couldn't resist once it actually came out. Trying to fill my piggy back back up so I can get the Portrait. 😅

      I have both the curio 2 and cameo 5. Do you have a video on getting the studio to recognize the electrostatic bed and how far do you push it in?

      @@darlahpotechin1668 in Silhouette Studio under the Page Setup Panel, there is a place to select the tray that you want to use. I don't have the ES tray for the Cameo, so I don't have a video for that.

    I'm looking for a machine to cut sewing patterns for stuffed toys that I am developing. Which machine would you recommend to cut patterns on fleece fabric?

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  4 місяці тому +1

      That depends on the size of the patterns. You'll want a cameo, for sure, but keep in mind that the standard model will cut 12x24 because you'll need a mat with fabric. The Plus will cut 15 in wide, and the Pro will cut 24 in wide. You'll also want a rotary blade.

    But does the Cameo 5 work with the paper feeder? The most important part for a small business? :)

      Yes, it does!!

      Do you mean roll feeder?

    • @silhouettesuccess
      @silhouettesuccess  7 місяців тому +1

      @missychan63 the auto feeder is different than the roll feeder. The auto feeder is for individual sheets of paper. The roll feeder is for tools of vinyl.

    This video has a lot of useful information, but this endless jumping from left to right is really distracting

    It sounds to me like they're hoping we buy both machines- why can the cameo 5, which seems to be the new powerhouse, not use all of the "power tools"? I left Cricut because I got tired of having to buy different tools every time I bought a new machine- Am I going to have to leave silhouette now too?

    • @silhouettesuccess

      Sorry for the delay. We just got back from vacation. Silhouette has always had the Cameo and the Curio. They're meant to do different things. The Curio 1 was discontinued for a while, but the 2 was already in the works.
      Each machine has different capabilities and limitations, so you have to decide which is right for you - or buy both.
      The Curio is built with more power behind it and can work with a greater variety of materials. The cameo is intended for lighter materials like vinyl and paper but also allows you to cut much larger projects.
      I'm not an engineer, but I feel that if they combined all of the great features into one machine, it would come at a price point that a large percentage of their base could not afford.
