- A beautiful look at a day on the water in Montana, featuring the new Recon series rods and some sweet trout taking dry flies off the surface. Created by Henry Miles of Skyline Studios.
Recon is the all-new rod designed for the anglers who chase blue lines on topo maps and spend their nights bent over Google Maps, plotting the next day’s adventures. For those who choose riverside meals of granola bars and jerky paired with the evening hatch over a sit-down meal at a sane hour. For anglers who would rather spend the day in the front of a skiff than behind a desk, we’ve created a rod ready to work as hard as you do in the pursuit of fish.
Recon teams high-performance feel with lightness in hand. With close-in loading ability and the power for longer reach, the rods feature a modern shadow green blank and covert black nickel hardware. Proudly made in the USA by people who love fishing as much as you do.
Quality video. Quality rod.
Wow too cool. You had me at the old ford 150 ranger with a old four speed. Keep it up!!
Infinetely beautiful and emotional pictures, love it! 👍
Greatings from Germany!
Got to love seeing that in the middle of winter.

I love this rod an beautiful video
So well put together, gj.
Good one!
First class.
Video was shot in Idaho.
So the map shown in the video had nothing to do with where he was fishing? The map would say he was fishing a tributary of the Blackfoot in Montana -- like Cottonwood Creek
Got the 3 wt. Most accurate rod ive owned..
Gucci meets Duluth Trading Company.
Good fish handling here, not a one handed grip.
Where were you guys fishing at?
Where was this filmed?
Beautiful images sound disappointed. Instead natural sound some electronics noises.
what nipper lanyard is he using? i cant seem to find that one anywhere
Abel nippers, I had to find out too 😅
Fly vines
What type of shirt is that tho?
Trout bum
a lot of slowmo of fish but no rod action..?
Why does the context say it "was a beautiful day on the water in Montana" but filmed in Idaho? looks like hes catching westlope cutties in western montana
I had a TLS power matrix. Tip flex 5wt but it got broken so I took it to NYC Orvis. The man at the shop told me it was repaired so when I picked it up he offered me a Recon (mid flex). So I asked him if he had not told me that my TLS was repaired. He then went into the stock room and returned with my TLS so I thought. The case and the handle were marked 'NYC loaner.' So I asked about this and he gave me a piece of foam and said this would clean it off. Then I went home and called Manchester and they said my rod was un-repairable and the Loaner rod service was discontinued years ago. Moral off the story. Don't trust Orvis salespeople.
