This might just be the quickest turnaround from stream to edit we've ever seen from the fruit! If this continues, by 2028, he'll be making highlight videos for games that don't yet exist and may never! Very exciting!
This game feels so, like. Foreign to me. Like this feels like a game aliens would make based on what they think earth is like. The sound design, strange choice of creatures and weapons, and the abstract stages and backgrounds just add so much to it. I love it.
I think thats exactly what the dev means when they describe it as "hostile", and simultaneously what makes it so compelling. The way that it just dumps you into its world with very little explanation and you have to figure out the mechanics theough brute force experimentation,,,, fantastic experience
no worries friend! one other little thing I noticed is that when the game presents you with your 3 items at the beginning of the level, the third item doesn't do that little slight rotation animation the other two do... idk if that was intentional or not just thought I'd report it just in case.
What a mad lad dev, the "hostile take on an immersive sim" is because there's a quote somewhere about how "an immersive sim is any game where a problem that would otherwise be solved by shooting can be solved by stacking boxes" and you shoot and stack boxes. Incredible.
So halfway through watching this, I got up and got a snack, and I came back and my screen was upside down, but instead of rotating my phone, I was just like, “this is how the game is now, neat”
Reminds me of Noita the way there’s just like a shit ton of wacko useless ones that like, if you have 1000 hours you can use them super optimally and stuff
"That is the most beautiful feeling, i feel like thats the essence of this game is like, "i wonder if this will work...oh my god i cant believe that worked"" man do i have a genre of games to recommend to you...
The second I saw the butterfly I knew 10 minutes down the line it would be used for a quick teleport and a race to the exit portal before it popped him back lol
2:48 not sure if this is what the developer intended but in Hebrew the words for "pomegranate" and "granade" are the same so that might be why it explodes
Actually, the word grenade directly comes from the french word for pomegranate, where they are spelled exactly the same as well! It makes sense because grenades used to look similar to pomegranates and also had a tendency of "flinging seeds" when "opened". Most Latin and Latin-Influenced languages usually specify the fruit kind of grenade by adding the word apple or fruit to it somewhere, which is were we get "pomme-grenade", and therefore pomegranate in English. It's neat!
It reminds me of an old atari game. You just beat levels over and over until you beat them all, and then there is a small congradulations or set piece of some kind to congradulate you before booting you back to the main menu. Reminder that not everything has to be super polished nor have a bombastic finish
everything about this game reminds me of that old physics simulator powder game. the font is reminiscent of it as well as the way the character's head changes with the item used. (in powder game you could give controllable characters different materials to shoot and their head would change color) i wonder if they're made by the same developer?
Hi grayfruit I recently started watching you again after like a six month break and I missed you :) your content is very calming for me and helps me with my depression. Thank you for being funny and playing games and then choosing to record said games with funny commentary
My ex and I used to watch him, and after we broke up I took a year break, and now I’m back too! So yea, I know what you mean. Before then I watched for several years. Ik it’s funny, but I’m genuinely overwhelmed w joy to see people supporting him on patreon and stuff. Welcome back!
I wanted to play this game before watching the video, and it's so funny watching different playthroughs. Truly every level has a new solution cause of the randomness and you ended up doing some weird shenanigans that I didn't end up doing.
Yes, I am watching the video edit literally right after finishing watching the VOD. I am rewatching the same content I just finished watching. And I am just as satisfied
that was certainly an experience it always feels nice to come up with a unique or outlandish solution and finding more and more ways to break a game with it
i havent seen anybody else say this but the visuals of this game seem to be inspired greatly from GoNNER, with the character design, restricted aiming, and the fact that your head dictates ur abilities. gameplay wise theyre very different tho, GoNNER is more of a procedurally generated shooter tho. i definitely recommend it if ur a fan of the aesthetic but also more fast-paced games
This looks _awesome._ And I just realized why it might be called a hostile take, the emphasis on randomgen means that, as the game itself says, sometimes you're just screwed. A normal immersive sim always has at least one solution built-in. In simple terms, an immersive sim gives you a problem and a toolbox to solve it. Like, imagine if Half-Life 2 but you get all the GMod tools to achieve the goal however you like
on the sidebar youtube usually recommends stuff to me that's atleast vaguely related to what video I have currently playing, but grayfruit's vids are an exception. It doesn't matter if I'm listening to weeb music, watching minecraft lets play or a livestream about polish politics, if there's a new gf video I haven't seen, *it will* appear on the sidebar
Was watching the vod for this like 20 minutes ago cuz I liked the art style and thought “meh this’ll probably only end up in a twitch scraps so if I care I should watch it now” and then BLAM main channel vid even though this is yesterday you MANIAC the angels sing tonight and my crops are flourishing
I like how this game is more finishable than playing Edmund Mcmillen's Time Fcuk and trying to get the ahcivement for playing through the game made of user generated levels.
saw this game come out on twitter and was exicted to play, and saw you comment abt it so i was excited to see this, also was a joyous to see cause i just got 3 fuckin shots today, so this was great to see

Right lol I saw a tweet announcing this game like earlier today and there's already a vid here for it
I’ll be honest I’m down for a polybius stream from the fruit man
I thought about this comment twice and i think it may actually be the AI lol
Can't wait for the Spore 2 longplay
Holy shit, you're right, less than 24 hour turnaround? What, is FrayGruit a youtuber now?
This game feels so, like. Foreign to me. Like this feels like a game aliens would make based on what they think earth is like. The sound design, strange choice of creatures and weapons, and the abstract stages and backgrounds just add so much to it. I love it.

as someone who wants to express myself through making weird games one day, you are an inspiration :)
yo no way it's devin chat
dude!! this game is awesome!!
you can tell grayfruit loves the game when it turns into a main channel video THIS fast

im pretty sure that’s an hbomberguy quote

9:52 "I feel like I bungled this already" and proceeds to have the most amazing win possible.
Its like a looney tunes...
when he said "I deleted myself" at 17:40 that _is_ actually what happened he didn't hit a spike or anything
this looks like a really fun game for something like "complete 10/50/100 levels speedrun"
So halfway through watching this, I got up and got a snack, and I came back and my screen was upside down, but instead of rotating my phone, I was just like, “this is how the game is now, neat”
Small thing but I really love the sound design of the delete

YES
Ikr!!!
The fruit man has given us scrumptious content for this lovely Wednesday
This game has such satisfying sound effects.
This one is already a modern grayfruit classic. Good stuff
You ever tell a joke, but tell it _perfectly?_ That's what this game feels like.
The sound design reminds me a lot of And Yet It Moves, where a good chunk of the sounds are actually voices. Also somewhat similar vibe.
Oh I love and yet It moves that game is a really big hidden gem
that game creeped me out as a kid, was pretty interesting though
it was so funny watching him get sucked in to doing a second paythrough because he was just having too much fun with it lol
2:01 Ah, love that design where you can't immediately tell if it's bullets or numbers or tally marks or roman numerals
The first glimpses of the genius at work. Who knew what this would become in two months?
I was just watching the VOD and throughly enjoying the process of learning the ins and outs of the funny physics.
Best immersive sim out there
Got this game halfway through the video. My weirdest moment was scaling a vertical wall with a single fish by sandwiching it between me and the wall.
"That is the most beautiful feeling, i feel like thats the essence of this game is like, "i wonder if this will work...oh my god i cant believe that worked"" man do i have a genre of games to recommend to you...
What genre? Immersive sim?

I laugh in the face of the guy that said "Twich scraps material" in chat. Straight to the main channel, baby.
Amazing video (and game)

DANBALL! DANBALL POWDER GAME!!! ANCIENT JAVASCRIPT ARTIFACT ! ! !
This game was literally MADE for _Slick_-ing, and there is not a SINGLE "SLICK" UTTERED IN THIS VIDEO!
You played this like yesterday on stream, how fast do you edit?
The fact that the death sound is so close to the vine boom really adds to the experience
This is like “Cruelty Squad” meets “Baba is You”
The way you can just jump off of the slightest angles reminds me soo much of Skyrim and scaling the side of mountains
this game's art style really reminds me of your only move is hustle
"you cant playform that amazingly" next video dude was going crazy💀
The ambience and sound design in this game gives me mad Twilight Princess vibes
"Women want me, fish fear me."
I can't be the only one that was flashbanged by the stairs at 15:40
There’s something kinda wholesome about just how happy this game made him.
17:01 amazing footstool combo Smash 4 Game & Watch compilaton.

Baba Is You vibes
yeah ikr
Artstyle reminded me of GoNNER
with a little cherry of Rain World on top
Baba is You with a little bit of Nidhogg sprinkled in there
this looks sooo fun. im surprised that it wasnt compared to the stanley parable or hylics with the whole dreamy aesthetic and lack of ending
0:53 smashes my phone out of instinct.
I feel like this game perfectly emulates the unending chaos that is Grayfruit's mind
this game looks so fun, the fact it's $5 on steam is a crime i wanna pay more than just that
I wanted to play this game before watching the video, and it's so funny watching different playthroughs. Truly every level has a new solution cause of the randomness and you ended up doing some weird shenanigans that I didn't end up doing.
this game minorly reminds me of stick fight the game in aesthetic, in slope climbing physics, and all the weapons being quirky
*struggling desperately against my chains, blood running down my arms from where they have bit into me* what's upgrav
Im glad u got a main channel vid out so soon, i usually watch VOd's but just couldn't do it this time idk why
I wonder how many people went "BONUS BONUS THATS BONUS WAAAAAAAAAHHHHNNN" everytime him gets a bonus point
The texture the game has is superb
Finally: Fruit on Fruit action
Yes, I am watching the video edit literally right after finishing watching the VOD. I am rewatching the same content I just finished watching. And I am just as satisfied
The fruit is playing a new release, and I’m watching this 8 minutes after it releases. What a time to be alive.
the pure rng for items is definitely true lmao bought the game because of the stream and in 10hours butterflies showed up for 1 set of levels total
that was certainly an experience
it always feels nice to come up with a unique or outlandish solution and finding more and more ways to break a game with it
