It has that sound - almost like a Demo Tape. Raw, unfiltered and a shit ton of base. You can hear every instrument, every intonation of Chris’s voice! 🔥
In my darkest days these tunes filled a part of my empty soul, sad that the artist himself suffered the same and is now gone. I fortunately climbed out and this music still touches me deeply. RIP.
yes indeed! The music is credited to Matt Cameron, and the lyrics to Chris. Amazing collaboration, if you ask me. Probably my favorite Soundgarden song of all time, and that's saying A LOT.
i've loved this album since i was 10 years old. totally a life-shaping force since i was a tender young thing. but i think this song really just clicked for me on a deeper level a couple years ago (i'm 34). anyway, yeah, a gift that keeps on giving..
When I first got the album, this was my least favorite song on it, and that was probably 20 years ago. I listened to the album end to end last weekend and now it's my favorite. Thank you Chris, rest in peace brother.
With all the big hitters on this album, I always enjoyed it for what it was, a quick, heavy jam. The main riff verses are perfect. Hard for him to do much after that IMHO.

Love you Chris, been with you since UltraMega OK. Im an OG. Went to see y’all at the Warfield (San Francisco) with Monster Magnet. I’m from Louisiana. You talk about a culture revolution I witnessed. The beginning of “grunge” and stoner rock...
@jonnies Yes! That struck me as his full power on display. Breathtaking in its awesomeness. An acquired taste for some, but this is some of the best popular music around. And the section from 1:25 to 2:00...The SG sound distilled to its purerest.
Chris, I can't believe you're gone already; was never prepared to lose you. You were and still are the best by far. I will eternally be in your debt #ripchris
One of my favorite songs by Soundgarden, without a doubt! Top 2. Long time coming motherfuckers! Hard to listen to their catalogue without getting a touch of the melancholy. What a beautiful voice, Soundgarden is where vocals, competent rock, time signatures, feeling combines to create something that transcends rock. To me, Soundgarden is where Led Zeppelin left off. They made rock that continued Led Zeppelin's legacy if that makes any sense. The tightness, the musicality, the time signatures, the amazing vocals, the lyrics, FUCK. A DAMN FUCKING SHAME CHRIS IS GONE!! GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RIP CHRIS CORNELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE YOUR SOUL HAS FOUND PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a die-hard SG fan, man. But since when i heard this for the 1st time, it became one of my Soundgarden favorite songs ever. I mean, it's hard to pick just one. I love everything they did, but this is almost transcendental. ❤
@@ricardomartinezxx I know that. I should've said the Album I'm listening to (Badmotorfinger) has hits after hits. (My opinion) I don't have to hit the forward button on my CD Player.
The section fron about 1:25 to 2:00 does not get anymore Soundgarden-ish. They were at their peak, and when Chris ramps it up, passages remind me of his UltramegaOK days, but with much more control. Not a fan of Thayil’s George Harrison riff on this track, but the rest is astounding. Cornell uses his lower register to great effect, even in his wailing. The naturalness and power of his voice sounds very unengineered here, on this most tightly produced/engineered of all of their albums. I like this remix for bringing CC’s voice a bit more forward out of the delightful grungy sludge. Bass and drums are outstanding. Matt ameron shared writing credit, I believe, Just amazing talent and so sad to think we are coming up on two years since Cornell...Hope his family and close friends are healing. Just a casual listener here, and I’ve never felt a celebrity death so poignantly. I saw his CBS Morning Show set three weeks before Detroit.
So I’m in a band called the age of truth and we get to do this as a cover. I’m scared shitless! In the same breath I’m honored! @Magnetic eye records this is gonna be awesome. Chris I’ll do you justice brotha ❤️🙏
I want saw a interview with Chris Cornell and he said that this song, fresh tendrils, was named after a bag of weed that Matt Cameron kept hidden behind his drums!!!! 😎🥁
Oddly enough, no stranger to Soundgarden all my life. But found out about this song from the bio of a COMPLETELY obscure stoner rock band Sgt. Sunshine who covered this in the album Gemini Tree. Heck it doesn't even have the individual song, the entire album is uploaded all at once on UA-cam.

He'll be back (Chris) - in a group called Alabaster down the road I reckon. [He's] reborn as far as I can see. And that fate or destiny is, of course, if the world keeps turning. Help out, folks, - it's getting kind of crappy out there... Try ND.ND.NBHFL.; it's a better pulse than what we've seen. Even he has to try. This is the moment where Superunknown goes from being a good rock album to being downright transcendent.
It becomes a soul album
yes, this is one of my top favorites though I do like them all
I used the phrase downright transcendent on a FB post earlier today. 🤜🤛this song truly is. best song on the album imo
@@nickvoorhees3929 Its so friggen good.
Damn....well said. You’re right on many levels. If I had to hang my hat on any single album, it would be hard to pass this one by.
My favorite Soundgarden song. Don't know why. Just does it for me.
I know why. It's Soundgarden, that's why. Every song they produce is a favorite.
This is my favorite, too!!

This was my addiction song in the 90's lucky enough to say in 2021 I understand now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This is one of those songs that I never get tired of hearing...his vocals are amazing
Matt's drumming is also stellar...

One of their best songs, although I don't know if the band even realize how good it is

their was Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains also but Soundgarden rules!!!
It doesn’t say “naked in your eyes”! It just does not match the wording and syllables heard as Chris sang that verse.
Well, this was great until they cut off the last 10 seconds of the song. Why even post something of that nature-?
I was pissed at the random addition of 30 seconds at the end of the 4M viewed "4th of July" upload but cutting off time is complete BS
This song should be as popular as Black Hole Sun IMO.
This video gets a downvote, ONLY for the fact that this song is cut off too soon . There are better complete versions available on youtube.
