    I have been having issues with my VSA light coming on and after, my car started vibrating and driving really bad.
    I thought I was gonna have to go to a mechanic to get it fixed.
    Today it was worse than ever and I watched a few complicated videos.. and then I ran across this video..
    I went and got an oil change and my oil was really low... been running perfect since..
    Thank you so much!!

    Dude, you solved my problem, thanks. I knew I had a slow oil leak but I guess it was worse than I thought and I was very low on oil. But I wouldn't have thought to even check the oil level without this video. So, thanks. We had the same symptoms - VSA warning and CEL (multiple cylinder misfire). I was ready to tow it to a shop! You prompted me to check the oil and, yes, it was embarrassingly low. Topped it off and (at least so far) she's running great. :o)

    Yesterday, the wife picked up the kids fr. school and sad the VSA light came on & she couldn't go faster than 20 mph and it was shaking. This video saved my bacon. Dumped two quarts of oil in & it worked just fine. Changed the oil out later that night and everything is working great now.

    Besides the obvious oil leaks the VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) tends to consume oil quite a bit. When it shuts down in eco mode from 6 cylinders down to 3 is a common issue with low oil between changes. Nice video.

      Sontanna Godwin I understand you posted this a year ago. If you have the oil changed at a lube shop or yourself make sure to use the recommended weight oil for your vehicle. I believe it’s 0W20. Verify that for sure. These vehicles are very susceptible to losing oil and a low level or wrong viscosity can give you these issues you’ve stated.

    2006 Honda CRV. Got the Check Engine, VSA, and Exclamation warnings as I made a left turn to pull up to a curb to drop someone off. The car started shaking and wouldn't budge - the wheel was tight and if I lifted my foot off the brake, it would stutter and shake. I turned the car off and restarted it which only left the check engine light (no VSA or exclamation). Car runs "fine" but the CE light is unnerving. I found this video and checked oil levels before I left work. It seemed low because just the tip had dark amber coloured oil. When I finally did the oil change that night, a substantial amount still came out of the engine (go figure), but I couldn't tell the exact amount. The CE light was gone after the oil change! Three days later, it hasn't reappeared! Thank you so much.

    If you have a V-Tec engine, it is common for the engine to use about a quart of oil. It doesn't burn it though. I had this same issue and took it to Advance Auto Parts. Needless to say, my camshaft position sensor is bad. Some people have told me that it could be a stretched timing chain, but on these engines, the chain is supposed to last the life of the engine. It is probably showing low oil because of the anchor on the side of the engine. My lights come on in low outdoor temps.

    • @lifeonbicycles
      @lifeonbicycles 8 років тому

      +Brandon Alloe They aren't chains and the belts are supposed to be replaced every 100k but mine lasted 130k before I replaced it

    • @brandonalloe2836
      @brandonalloe2836 8 років тому

      +camMDR Belts are not on a V-Tec. Belt is rubber and chains are metal. If you read your Honda manual, it does not have a service interval for a chain because it is meant to last the life of the engine, but they do stretch.

    • @lifeonbicycles
      @lifeonbicycles 8 років тому +3

      Brandon Alloe V-tec just means valve timing electric control....it is just hondas version of variable valve timing and there are a bunch of engines that have this. The vast majority of Honda engines have timing belts to replace at 100k, and this is about the 3.5 Honda engine, which is found in a bunch of cars including the accord, Acura TL, Odyssey, Pilot, Acura MDX, and Honda Ridgeline. You may have a different honda engine that is older and has a chain, though.

    so what happened with your card this happened to me too I bought a Honda Odyssey 2005 and they said it had good oil in it when I bought it I check the oil regularly for the first couple weeks and then kind of stopped checking it then all the sudden my carhad that little light with the engine light come on so I check my oil and it was like almost bone-dry how that went from maintaining oil to not maintaining oil so quick I can't understand. I put the proper amount of oil in it then a few days later this VSA light came on. I don't have the skills to change the oil like you do I'll have to bring it somewhere and get it changed I checked it yesterday and it was at a good level. What was going on with your Odyssey why did it suddenly loose oil

    your red oil indicator dash light appears when you started the car...this is happening to my 2009 and oil was recently changed, not low on oil. for cars with VCM, this happens sometimes due to the engine software TSB, so see if yours needs to be updated, and dirty spark plugs. spark plugs replaced and engine software updated last year, and a year later, now we have the same issue. dealership to look tonight, will comment on what the issue was when it's fixed.

    I had this problem (07 Oddy). Your engine is low on Oil. I had a leak. When it got low....the VSA would illuminate, the car would shudder. If you restart it may clear. It also comes on in wide turns. It becomes difficult to drive, it wont shift gears, it heats up. My clue was the oil can flashing. I had to do this until the oil leak was found and repaired (mine was the filter on the spool valve assly).

    Hi, i never had a honda odyssey before and I see they still in the road after 150 and 200 thousand miles. What I learn after buying one was the VCM system is not so grate. Burn oil, make vibration when switching to ECO mode after some time and engine mount wear out. This is why you probably here now trying to understand what is going on with you car. So, my 2009 odyssey was blinking engine light and VSA on. Bring it to mechanic and say the spark plug was the problem Change all 6 and now is fine. I search more of this VCM and is for sale some wire harness to solve the problem, maybe not definitely but will help a lot. The name of that is VCM NOZZLE 2 let find more about this and together let see if Really works. I will install it i let you guys know if really work.

    Nope, not in my case. I've got the VSA light on and the Yellow Triangle of Doom on but my oil is fine. Someone somewhere mentioned it might be low brake fluid. I'll have to check that next. Or, they say sometimes it just comes on. Then I've got to watch a bunch of videos on how to turn those two warning lights off. Maybe it would help if I checked for codes, first. That's an idea.

      @@mannycarrillo8782 I changed the engine oil and filter AND transmission fluid but still have the VSA and Triangle of Death lights on. I tried that procedure using a paper clip in the connector but didn't have any luck there, either. There's a scary video about the cause of those lights coming on. Behind the right, front headlight is the ABS module and within that module is a very delicate wire that has a tendency to break - and cause the VSA and Triangle of Death light to come on. It's a pain to get at that module and it is expensive to replace it. It seems like somewhere I've run across a video about unplugging the ABS system but I might be confusing that with some problems I'm having with my 1994 F-150. I think the warning lights have left my VSA in a constantly ON mode. Maybe there's somewhere to unplug the VSA. I don't think the VSA and Triangle light will fail me on a NYS Inspection so I've kind of let this slide while I work on my other two vehicles.

      Hey smart ass.. Vsa has nothing to do with oil is correct but vsa light up with cel meaning there a code that are related to oil.. Exl and touring model has eco mode and it oil driven.. Low oil caused the valve to not let switches back.

    Mechanic said oil is fine , we changed the pressure switch the one of p2647 code
    He changed timing belt, plus took care of oil leak. And the vsa light and engine light remained on, and worse..
    I can't even drive , as soon as I turn on my 2007 Honda Odyssey it turns on and vibrates scary. I have no idea now. I'm devastated I need my car

    This is partly caused by excessive oil consumption on this 3.5L engine. I swear, I'll never again buy another Honda.

      The problem isn't Honda. It is just this particular vehicle. The Accords and Civics are extremely reliable but Honda seriously dropped the ball with their van.

    VSA is 'vehicle stability assist'. This has nothing to do with oil level. VSA coordinates anti-lock braking system to encourage the vehicle to track straight during slippery conditions. The check engine came on because of running low on oil which caused other issues. IF vehicles are using excess oil a host of root causes need to be investigated.

      The owners manual says to turn off the vehicle and restart it to reset the VSA system.

    I have same issue on my Honda Odyssey 2013. Oil was almost gone (dont know how). I did add 4qt of oil but the engine light still keeps flashing and car still vibrates. How long does it take to get the oil in effect? Do I need to drive for some time to get the oil working? I am worried if there is some secondary issue due to lack of oil and driving will cause more damage.

    I've read the comments that the VSA has nothing to do with the oil. That may be true, but changing the oil absolutely fixed my issue. Give it a try. 40 bucks vs. 1000's.

    by the way in my case the VSA light went on cause 1day i was traveling 6hrs away and i saw my oil percent at 10% so i assumed that all i had was 10% oild so i went ahead and 5 more new quarts of oil in my engine. i was told that i put 5 on top of an old 5quarts. the 10% only meant that i was closer for a due new oil change it does not actually mean that your low on oil. SO GUYS DONT ADD OIL, GO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I DROVE 3HOURS IT FELT LIKE MY ENGINE WAS KIND OF GETTING READY TO DIE I WAS GOING 65 MILES AN HOUR I COULDNT GO MORE THAN 10 MILES AN HOUR THEN WHEN I PULLED OVER TOOK A 5 MINUTE BREAK, THE CAR DROVE REGULAR AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN SO I WENT TO CHANGE MY OIL AND PUT THE REGUIRED AMOUNT OF OIL 5 OR 6 QUARTS. AND EVE R SINCE RAN SMOOTHLY. THE VSA LIGHT WAS GONE. SO I THINK IN MY CASE I OVER FILLED IT WITH OIL.
    SOMETIMES THESE FOLKS THAT LIKE THIS GUY HAS THAT -200 MILES PASS DUE he might of instead of changing the oil added a quart here and there and that is what caused his VSA LIGHT GO ON SO THIS GUY HERE ISNT EVEN SURE. CAUSE THAT LIGHT GOES ON ONLY WHEN ITS OVER FLOODED WITH OIL

    • @LifeLift421
      @LifeLift421 6 років тому +2

      Not true. Mine went on bc I was low on oil. The best thing to do is to use it he oil stick and actually check the level of oil before doing anything.
