People who dismiss Stallone, and Schwarzenegger, as mindless, muscle bound, meatheads, really don’t have a clue how incredible they really are. They both defied the odds, on several occasions, and are true legends, in so many ways.

At 57-years old next month, the shape I'm in... a miracle, that inspiration paid off. lol Sylvester Stallone is a legend.

When I was a child, my own mother and step father told me to my face I was not good enough to play football and too stupid to get a college degree. I played semi pro in the US and went to Europe after that. I came back and put myself thru college and went back eleven years later for a second degree. I found out that they were trash talking about me behind my back the whole time. I have not spoken to them in seven years. Point is - stick to the goal and commitments that it takes - YOU CAN DO IT.

    “You’ve managed poverty very well.”
Like “you know you can do that. If you take this risk and it fails, you know you can bounce back. You’ve succeeded at that already.”
    That is so liberating!
Like, “okay, let’s do this because even if I lose, I know for a fact I’ll live through it. There’s nothing left to fear and to avoid taking this risk.”
I really needed that message tonight.
I’m gonna remember that. “You’ve managed poverty really well. You know how to do that.”

I just love this man, so authentic! Was my idol. One day I meet Stallone in Venice, was a summer film festival, probably 1997. Waking with my sister on a street of Venice, close to Hotel Daniele, I see from distance a bright, clean and unique figure. I was amazed to find out was Stallone. I just pointed toward the guy, yelling: Sylvester Stallone!!! The man turn to say Ciao,…, probably pleased of my reaction.

Mind you, I did NOT dream of being rich and famous! I dreamed of making a decent living doing what I loved. I'm 72 this year, and I have played Music Professionally since 1965. I have done many other things as well, but I ALWAYS played Music. For many, many years, I ONLY played Music. Sylvester Stallone is one of the greatest of all time. I do not know how many hours I have spent watching his movies in my life, but I could hazard a guess that 1 month would not be enough.. There has been many action stars in movies since -80s, Sly is still bringing it. And everyone loves him. And he is a true self made man, if there ever was one. Now I am middle aged and if nothing sudden happens, I will outlive most of my heroes... and that is going to suck massively.

I dont usually write long winded comments on anything but this time I just cant help but do it. When the first rocky film came out I had three sons aged 12, 7 and 5. They watched that film over and over again. They used to take in turns one would lay on the floor doing sit-ups, another one of them would hold the first ones feet down and the third one would slap the first one across the stomach just like on the film. then they would move around and start again. Obviously all watched to make sure that nobody was going to get hurt!! This fitness regime was the start of them being fitness and sport crazy ! I often wondered how many other children were doing the same thing, and having fun with it just like they did. He did something wonderful for my kids and they NEVER ceased to enjoy the films nor did they ever give up on their fitness. Now he has given us something else! He shared with us his thoughts but, not only that he has spoken them with openness and sincerity . Something very rare at this point in time . From my stance I would like to say a big thank you for the straight forward honesty that was served in this short film!!!! Molto molto Grazie!!!

Part of the problem, in my opinion, money becomes a motivating factor when we should be self-motivated so at "The End" of our story, we can stand-up and give ourselves an ovation for a job well done👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  • @warped2875

The more common thing about shopping a script around, is that they might say that they are not interested, "Thanks for stopping by, but we're going to pass on this one", then they get a writer buddy to do a script in a very similar vein. Have you ever noticed that when some movies are released, that there is another movie coming out at around the same time which is about the same theme? ...yeah, it's basically theft of IP, but shuffled around just enough to help avoid litigation over the matter, ...or not.
For every script writer that makes it big, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, that get chewed up and spit out by the movie making machine. Sly was one of the lucky ones to hit the bigtime.

There is lots of truths in this. When I founded my company a couple of years ago I made peace in my mind with the high risk by telling myself that even if it fails I at least wasnt too afraid to take my chances. You've got to decide who you want to be. Not between a successful man and a loser but between someone who takes his chances and someone who does not. The latter is a loser, not the one who tries and falls.

Mr. Stallone has seen the entire range of obscurity, beginner actor, successful actor, mega-star and an actor that can pick and choose what roles appeal to him. It seems at each step of the way there are people trying to block your path forward, even at the point you become a household name there are folks that think it is their business to tear you down, to try to ruin your self esteem! His mental fitness was equal to his physical fitness, you are a man that each of us should recognise for your talent , drive, and caring for others, not denying the dreams they have, but advising them how to succeed.

He did get him back. Sold his dog for $100. When he got the money for Rocky he found the guy he sold his dog too and bought him back for $10,000 and a part in the film. The little guy that works in the gym is the guy. Rocky "What are you def?" The guy, "No I'm short."

Never underestimate the underdog. The one with the heart full of drive that has been disappointed over and over. But still the heart keeps going. Never let go of your integrity! Remember don't become the roadblock to others, support them even when you are still in the process of following your dream. Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. Because when you reach your goal you need to be able to hold your head up high knowing you always tried to do things the right way. Don't forget where you come from. Don't be ashamed of your past or situation it's the example that will show others they are not alone in the beginning of their dream. I don't care if it takes forty years to reach that goal. Point is you never gave up. One of the hardest decisions you may have to make is take the responsible path when others depend on you or do you walk away to follow a dream no one understands. You never know you can stay and be there for others and with a lot of hope you might get a chance to still make the dream come true later in life. It's what you can live with at the end. Don't forget to be a friend to yourself.

I worked as a bouncer, as a soldier, as a cop and now as a Detective. This guy never ever spend a single day at such really risky work that he embodies in his movies anyway. Yet he is the incarnation of manly and of tough :) With a statue in Philadelphia showing him... :))))) That shows how fully gullible many to most people are. And what a masterful actor he is. Copland is one of my favorite movies.

I love cinema, old and new, English and Foreign language, my idols are Andrei Tarkovsky and David Lynch, but everytime I watch tv and Rocky happens to be on, I just have to go and watch it until the end. I don't call it a guilty pleasure, because that's demeaning, like you are ashamed of it and I certainly am not, it's just a wonderful love story, and yeah ... there's some boxing in it. Miss that era, where you had your movie heroes and just couldn't wait what they would do next, whether it would be Sly or Arnie, I loved them both then and still do. Great respect for these two artists, because if people think they were just these two guys who did some stupid action movies mostly, well, they should realize that the movies they made are deeply ingrained into our culture and are not as beloved for decades as when they came out for a reason.
