We binged the entire season from 9PM when it dropped to 8-9AM the next day, and that plus the release of the revamped FO4 means we've been talking about the show/Fallout in general for nearly 3 weeks straight now. News flash to anyone that thinks it’s not a spoiler, if the person didn’t even know the property existed before reacting, that is a spoiler for them it ruins the reaction when they get to it later, to them the game is fresh and there may be fans who just didn’t have a desire or time to get to it either ( that’s where I fall in, I couldn’t get my motivation to play new Vegas or 4 when they released, now I’m enjoying 4 more than I ever have and I’m fully sucked in and want to play new Vegas as well, yes the games are old but we went this long without getting those spoilers, now they got spoile when we finally got an interest.

    Maximus survived the blow because he is an "Endurance/Luck" build! :)
    Each character is literally built on the game's character design, with Maximus he has extremely high Endurance (tough as hell), and high Luck (with the Idiot Savant perk, lol), but very low Intelligence (which goes with the Idiot Savant perk so he gets lot of XP from actions)
    Lucy is more general build with more in Int and Charisma, it even says her three primary skills at the beginning: Repair, Speech and Science!
    The Ghoul is Agility/Perception and Charisma, but with a LOT of levels earned by actual combat when he was a Marine and then 200+ years in the Wasteland, so he's maxed out all the combat perks like Gun Fu, Grim Reaper's Sprint, Penetrator, Improved Critical etc

    All the reveals in this finale were CRAZY. Ive never played Fallout, so I had no idea about the lore. However, I loved this show, and the fantastic sets, practical effects and acting by Walton Goggin, Ella Purnell, Max Moten and Moises Arias were all outstanding in this show. The twist that Hank, as well as other Vault dwellers from 2077 like Betty and what's left of Bud Adkins, was responsible for nuking Shady Sands and killing thousands, including his own wife and Maximus's family, honestly blew my mind. Not to mention the fact that Cooper's wife and the entirety of Vault Co. starting the war, which is INSANITY, to begin with, is so incredibly dark and yet sadly extremely true to how I imagine a lot of governments and businesses would use a nuclear fallout to their advantage. It is also even grimmer that you realise all the ideas that the meeting members were suggesting are all tasks that different Vaults are assigned to do in the actual Fallout Games as Vault Dwellers of the game since each Vault is tasked to do some meaningless and unethical experiments that are just a sick game for the Enclave (rich folks at the top). It was really satisfying seeing The Ghoul shoot Henry even if he survived, and Lucy having to kill her own barely alive mother just to stop her suffering as a Ghoul is so tragic, especially when all she wanted to do was to live her own life with Moldaver who actually loved her and give her children a better future. I really hope Maximus uses his power as a knight to do some real good, and I genuinely hope he can reunite with Lucy again because the two of them are too good for this world, and they deserve happiness together, as well as the Ghoul/aka Cooper. One thing I especially loved about this series is how every action in the show has some reaction or consequence at the end of the day, such as how Lucy lets all the Ghouls free, which is apparently very similar gameplay tactics to the original games that do the same thing having players's actions impact them.
    I NEED SEASON 2 NOW!

    The thing I think people don't notice is that this show has a hidden massage and it's that actions speak loader than words because in that scene of the brotherhood and the NCR fighting with hack saying that it was necessary is completely hypocritical. For when the audience sees the past evey scene including the birthday party there was always the talk of peace being negotiated every single time even in the meeting of a the big companies Mr. House (Rob-co) said how can this an assured for it's a big investment. That implies that he knew, just as everyone in that room is that peace was a route that the world would truely take. All of valut-tec wanted was to just run that world and the thing about the world is that there war even when they take over themselves cause people always will disagree and that could lead to war, And we all know war, war never changes. But you want to know what does change, it's peace and I think that is what this show has been trying to show with the character , The Ghoul. A character that has been shown and has done horrible things in this world has for ever subtly has tried to have peace in every interaction in they have had on the show. I bring up two scenes one of the random ghoul friend down on his luck and the caps farm. The ghoul friend that was about to turn asked our main character if he had some drugs to spar which leaves to say that he has helped this guy out before, but he sadly could offer him none. So did our cold hearted character kill him then and there. No, he talked to him about a good past with food which lead to the ghoul friend last thoughts was his mom home made pie. And then the caps farm is a place where he murdered a boy infront of his father. This one will be hard to tell for it was the most peaceful option that he gave the boy for it was his choice to pick up the gun. Though if the ghouls was cold hearted monster then why didn't kill the rest of the family and looted the farm for it's worth. No he did not for he didn't need to. But the thing I wanted to point out is that after he kill the boy and exited the farm is that there was sorrow in his face for what he had done and that he wish that the kid didn't pick up the gun. This man is the very kryponite to vault-tec propaganda for even in this world and all it's horrors there ideals ar thwarted by it that an old ex soldier turn ghoulish mercenary that has done horrible things for survival has always sought even the smalliest chance of a peaceful path in evey situation; while vault-tec wanted to destroy the world instead of try.

    "War... War never changes." The opening line to the first Fallout game, and present in every game since. The writers did their job and saved it for the end.
    It's been so weird to watch this show toe the line between being an introduction to the world and also be the canon continuation of the series. The fact that almost all Vaults are massive social or scientific experiments is a twist in the first game but is a well-worn part of the setting by now. Rather than just let that be the twist in the series, they opted to also give the game fans something they'd never seen before: the meeting where that decision is made.

If she was looking toward that figure in the darkness, it could be a member of the Prewar Enclave. It would make sense that a representative of the Enclave would be at this meeting because it's hinted at in the original games that the Enclave put Vault Tech up to doing their Vault Experiments, and an Enclave Rep sending her some sort of message to take control of the room while everyone is bickering would make sense as well. There are also hints in the show, the Enclave Scientist Wilzig knows everything about Vault 33, recognizes the name McLean and even had the Vault Tech Plan D Cyanide Pills on him that he used on himself when he could no longer go on. I think that we'll learn that not only was Barb highly ranked in Vault Tech and knew their dark agenda, but that she also knew of the Enclave and dealt with them directly on various occasions, but this is all just fun speculation.

      It might be, i think the enclave are the ones that actually dropped the bombs, since i don't think barb as a vault-tec employee would send her daughter into the world the same day they were intending to bomb everything. so I think that the guy barbs looks up is 100% enclave, and they were manipulating everything for their own goal. I think that wilzig knew most of that because he was working with moldaver, and she knew all of that from lucy's mom. Like, even if the enclave had extensive records of every vault. i don't think they would be accessible by anyone but the highest ranked officers.

      Yeah, I agree. Until proven wrong that is the theory I am going with. Those shadowy figures in the upper chamber were very likely Enclave and probably the head of Vault-Tec which if I am not mistaken has never been named in canon? We know who was the president of Nuka-cola, but perhaps in this series we will meet (in flashbacks?) the president of the Vault-Tec corporation.

Gotta remind you about the NCR and how they were the greatest economic and military power in the wasteland where people lived in peace and were rebuilding. In the games the brotherhood coexisted(though sometimes with friction) with them and held the steel boys in check because of their power. So no, Hank wasn't spitting in that case. Vault tec BECAME what they were preaching against, the faction causing chaos and war and murder and turmoil. They reinstated that state of war. Just my personal theory:
    I give Moldaver a pass on having Lucy's mom as a ghoul. Hank took out the whole city 20 something years ago, I don't find it hard to believe that Moldaver found Rose as a ghoul lost near the rubble years after the bombs drop. Shady Sands was Modlavers city, it seemed she was pretty much mayor or leader, so I assume they were busy doing separate things when the city was destroyed. I feel like she would have spent years to find proof of Rose's death out of love and found her finally as a ghoul only recently. Thats why she finally got into the vaults with Rose's pipboy and was ready to launch her plan.

    • @twichytail
      @twichytail Місяць тому +3

      @parttimespacepilot Місяць тому +2

      @@twichytail True, But on the other hand her finding Rose might have been the reason why he injected it into his neck, it was finally time to take the Enclaves cold fusion he had been tinkering with because Maldavor found the pipboy and started the first domino of the plan. The cold fusion existed before the plan, Maldavor says they bought her company that made it before the war, so they had to have Wilzig on the inside and to signal him when they were ready for him to steal it.
      I don't mind being wrong, that's just how I look at it. I might have missed something that undoes my idea more. I haven't been into a show this deep in forever, so I love talking theories even if they aren't always the right answers in the end.

      @@hengineer @hengineer That's the wasteland. Everyone is a "gray character" there is no one objectively GOOD person or Facton. Lucy is a fish out of water learning that no matter who's side you're on you're always going to make choices that aren't great to further your own idea of good.
      It's the line Moldaver said "Hypocrisy is like violence in your movies. If you only let the bad guys use it, the bad guys win" to me that implies that no one's hands are clean. While you may be trying to do good with your faction, in a world like fallout there's always going to be horrible things that are done in the name of your version of "good".
      For example, Max at the end, he's forced to watch first hand as his BoS allies murder hundreds of normal innocent people living at the observatory to claim the power for them selves, all when he thinks he's trying to do good getting to Lucy so they can escape together.
      It really drives home the line "War never changes" because it's a cycle that's been repeated for all of time. One side thinks their side is good no matter the cost it takes to make it happen. And it's still happening even after the world's gone to shit... War NEVER changes and there's never any one good person or side in this world. It's all shades of gray

    The easiest way to make electricity is by spinning magnets around really fast. so imagine you stick some magnets onto a pole, and then stick it onto a fan and blow on it, you’ll make a current.

    The Brotherhood of Steel had their own reasons for doing what they did, the NCR leader Moldaver possessed the reputation of a lunatic to the local population. There is no way the Brotherhood could allow a technology like that to fall into her hands with her track record at the time. I'm sure that they would be absolutely astounded to find out her true intentions. As she didn't fight this battle for the betterment of the NCR she did it to ensure her own personal quest of bringing cold fusion to the world. I'll give her credit for that as it was a quest that lasted over 200 years.
    This is a post nuclear world so it's not like we need to go over war crimes or anything as none of them apply and none of the parties fighting need abide by the rules. There is such a thing as morality but in the post nuclear world it has drastically changed. For example the Brotherhood is wrong for firing into the courtyard absolutely. But if you watch the footage they were actually receiving fire from the courtyard as well because there was defenders mixed in with civilians. This is where it comes to the NCR's point of fault. Based on the rules of war, you cannot allow civilians to take up living anywhere near an active military facility. What is even more troublesome is that when the air raid sirens sounded Moldaver, instantly said the brotherhood like she knew that they would be coming because she did... So you knew that they were coming yet you didn't take any precautions to evacuate civilians... When the battle starts to they do not focus on evacuating civilians or trying to keep them safe they focus on trying to take on the Brotherhood leaving the civilians to either join in the fight making them legitimate combatants and therefore fair game or to flee. Regardless both sides showed a disregard, but the Brotherhood might not even have known that they were civilians they did no prior recon and started receiving heavy fire immediately.
    And I know this is quite a long message but I do want to ask you all what do you think each of these factions would do if they heard Hank's speech for example... I think we would see them all unite and just wipe out vault-tec and most likely The re-emerging Enclave.

    That ending made me realize that they foreshadowed the following episode in the ending credits of every episode.

    Vault tec made the shortage that's causing people to fight. They had the tech to fix it and refused because it was less profitable. They don't get to complain when the consequences appear.

    probably with the knowledge that rob-co (mr house) found out in the flashback about them dropping the bombs themselves. he would go on and abandon the enclave and try to make las vegas safe from the nukes by intercepting 68/77 out of them. (saving the city was for egotistical reasons so he could have his own kingdom after the great-war)
    after that he set up new vegas meanwhile having suffered from a few bodily aches hope we see him return in season 2

    This is Thanos level crap. They had all the resources and money to built all these weapons, bombs, and vaults, but they rather spent them on destruction, death and just for themselves.

    The city in the end is New Vegas. It's from the game Fallout New Vegas. It's a very important location.

    The guy who asked at the company meeting how vault tec wanted to make sure that the "hypothetical" investment would work was the only one in the room who was serious about the hypothetical. That was Mr. House from Robco and he actually had an even better idea. I think we'll meet him in S2.

    Fusion takes hydrogen and fuses it together, which is what stars (generally) do. This releases massive amounts of energy.
    The problem is that easy fusion generally requires massive temperatures and pressures. So far all efforts to create sustained fusion (rather than bombs), they end up requiring more energy than they put out.
    The hope of cold fusion is being able to create fusion with very little energy input. This would be INCREDIBLY world-changing, because the thing about fusion is that the fuel, hydrogen, is the most common element in the universe. You could theoretically just use water.
