    Trying to clear up the confusion on the starting chain.
    This pattern works with either a starting chain of 114 or a starting chain of 100 as the multiple is 14+2.
    (14x7)+2 = 100
    (14x8)+2=114
    I have several different ripple patterns and use the same video as the purpose is just to explain the stitches used.
    Sorry for the confusion! The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the process of the peaks and valleys.
    Hope this clears it up ☺🧶☺

      Thank you for clearing this up! I was doing 14x11 then adding 2 each time... instead of 14×11= 154 then only add 2 at the end!

    For those wondering the multiples for bigger sized blankets, as stated on the pattern page it's 14 + 2, so whatever multiple of 14 plus the extra 2 chains :)

    I taught myself how to crochet a chain, then worked to teach myself how to add to the chain so that I had multiple rows. I have been making single stitch crochet afghans until 2 years ago when I was finally taught how to make a double crochet stitch, I was never taught how to make all the half stitches and triple stitch & so on. I understand that the majority of your watchers are very knowledgeable & that's Great; I hope to one day be that knowledgeable about making afghans as well, I just wish you would have shown how to make a half double crochet stitch in this video. I have always wanted to make a ripple Afghan. Thank You So Much For All The Videos & PDF Patterns. I will see if I can find a video that teaches how to make a half double crochet stitch. 💐

    At the end of my second row and I only have 3 chains remaining...not sure how that happened. Even more concerning, is my "waves" are not looking right. Anyone care to help/assist? Wish I could show a pic.

    Hi Lauren, I’ve worked this blanket before but am having a hard time staying on track. Can you give me a clue for when I’m coming up to a decrease or increase? What am I looking for in the row below? I’m a very confused crocheter as I’m left handed and learned to crochet right handed and feel a little dyslectic.

      The first 8 minutes of the video address a traditional ripple... then I go into how to switch to hdc. I have ripple patterns that do both, so I included both in the video.

    • @AZStudent69
      @AZStudent69 20 днів тому

      @@DaisyCottageDesigns I also was wondering this, I think the commenter was wondering more so why switch from a dc to a hdc, aka what's the difference? is it just how it looks? does it look different from being all dc or hdc, vs a mix of both? (as in, is there a reason to switch between the two or will it look the same not switching?) many of us newer crocheters don't understand why things are done so it's helpful to explain, then we can decide what to do if we'd like. without an explanation, people follow whatever is said but knowing the *why*, people can understand better, therefore making them better crocheters. sounds like both ways are similar so if you added "so you can continue this exact stitch or replace dc with hdc, whatever you prefer because of XYZ" I think there would be more understanding. love this tutorial tho, so thank you!

    I’m just discovering this pattern and am having the same problems mentioned below. SO frustrating to start over and over and not see where I’m going wrong. I do not end up with 5 stitches to work with at the end. So I can’t do 4 double crochets and then the 2 in the last stitch. I guess I’m ready to give up.

    Have a novice question. When you insert hook into the “next stitch”, are you inserting through 1or2 loops?, front and back loop?? Some directions will say front, back, or both. Not sure what the rule is? 😢clarify please. Thank you

      This question was never answered! 😳🤷‍♀️🤔 I have been crocheting for many, many years and this pattern does not match the instructions of chaining 100. My rows would not line up with the ones below. I did it exactly how it was written. Redid it too many times to count! Then I watched this video and you said to chain 114- not 100. So, which is right? Please update these instructions on your blog with the correct chains and for the ends. Several have had issues with this. And so do I because my decreases and increases did not match after the third row. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤔😕 please respond to this question about chains. I get the multiple of 14+2 but you need to correct this for the blog or printed version. Thank you! 😊

    Will the end of the row always end in 4 DC and then the one stitch after that has 2DC?

    • @dallaswise415
      @dallaswise415 7 місяців тому

      So the last 5 stitches of each row are 4DC then 2DC in one chain
