Even though I was born in 2001 right when the prequels started coming out, THIS was my introduction to star wars, my dad started me out the right way, and I'll never forget when he pulled this bad boy out when I was 4 or 5 and said "I wanna show you my favorite movies from when I was about your age" what followed was some of the most impactful moments of my young life and I was hooked. I didn't even know what the prequels were not watched them until I was 7 or 8 I think. And I still have this box set safely in storage and assuming I can maintain a VCR when the time comes this is 100% how I entend to introduce my kids to star wars.
I couldn't stop smiling the entire time... this was the first SW thing I ever saw when my dad showed me ESB when I was young! I became a fan right then and there
I remember getting these when I was 5 and watching all of them for the first time just thinking they were the greatest thing ever. I still think that. I think we still have them somewhere.
I found the box set today at a Half-Price Books for only $10! I'm only 15 and I have never seen the original trilogy in their original form. I'm excited to see it now, all I need is a VHS Player!
Wow, thank you for posting, I was actually born in 1995. I remember watching these with my father when I was two or three years old. Also, I just realized that Jim Cummings was the one doing the voice over for this.
The Red Viper Yeah, I've been looking for them on DVD, the movies are on the bonus disc, sadly the quality is terrible, Harmy used them to restore the trilogy tho, the Despecialized editions are a gift from heaven. I do own the trilogy in VHS by the way, they are my babies.
+ApexCactus quality terrible? I wouldn't have thought so. I bought them about two years ago, and besides it being in 4:3 format, the quality is just as you'd expect from a movie from the time
"One last time". On VHS, at least. The original versions of the original trilogy had since gotten released on DVD, though. Jim Cummings does a pretty neat narration.
this was the shit when i was a kid! bad ass! it was the thing i was sooo into. waited along time before mom actually bought the 3 movies, and then the toys, and then the prequel movies ----damn---best years of my life!
@SolidLukeS3 Hell yeah! That first thing said in this preview is one of my favorite parts. For those who remember, for those who will never forget and for the first time...
Thank you for uploading this....I had the VHS and still hear him saying "The force is forever...for all generations" when that part of the star wars theme music plays. :)
@rcfrandsen I hear you! The original trilogy are the most amazing films ever created. Never be ashamed to be a Star Wars fan because Star Wars fucking rocks!
I've heard that this edition had edits too ( though not nearly as bad as the DVDs) and that the original theatrical versions were only ever released on Laserdisc. Can somebody back this up?
@FranHu75 I don't know about uploading to youtube due to copyrights, and I'm already close to being kicked out. I might upload to MegaVideo and a flash version to my website. I'll tell you when it's up. :) ... Only problem... My VCR JUST BROKE. :(. And they are starting to get expensive... But I'll try. ...As...Soon...as...possible!
I have more faith in Disney releasing the original versions than Lucas. I'm still skeptical, however since the demand for the original versions are so high, I think we may get one in 2017 for the 40th anniversary. One can only hope.
They made it sound like you wouldn't be able to get these movies anymore on video. But George Lucas had a nasty trick up his sleeve, the "special" editions. FOREVER!!
i felt cheated at the time,i thought it was the last time you could own them full stop,i went straight to woolworths to buy these at a high price, then 2 years later, the special edition comes out.few years later on dvd, then dvd special edition, now blu ray,,how many times did this guy sell the same movie?just changed it here and there :( :(
he tricked us into buying them ,because if you were my generation, they were on every christmas. it give you the impression you would not see starwars again unless you bought them there and then.the money he has earned off fans with different formats through the years from the same film upsets me.
gareth williams technically they weren't lying when was the last time you saw the unaltered trilogy anywhere in the past 15 or so years non TV not for sale that's it in 95 was the last time to get the unaltered version
Jim Cummings saying "The Force is forever" @ 0:59 is enough to give any Star Wars fan chills
Hi
used to watch this everytime I watched the old VHS trilogy. knew it off by heart
wow, the nostalgia of watching this. For me, these few moments are my first memories of Star Wars growing up.

This trailer was my introduction to Star Wars. Thank you.
I found the 1995 VHS set at a goodwill... Letterbox edition! In perfect condition. I'm now copying them to DVDs before they deteriorate.

Why not just download the Despecialized Editions?

Well, no one is changing them anymore. Now that Disney is buying Fox, there are no more hurdles to them releasing the old versions.
@@connorbrennan4233oh to be that naive
@@justachu5521 Yeah. Didn't age well, I know.
Oh man I haven't seen this commercial in forever, but I still have it pretty much memorized.
"This will be your last chance to own the original version of Star Wars"
That was our fair WARNING! =(
Watching this preview always makes me proud to be a Star Wars fan!
I agree. When i first heard the were special editions, after i watched this trailer. one tear
Wow, thank you for posting, I was actually born in 1995. I remember watching these with my father when I was two or three years old. Also, I just realized that Jim Cummings was the one doing the voice over for this.
Once Disney bought Fox, they haven’t remastered the Theatrical cuts. I still have this vhs tape in Widescreen
This trailer gives me chills EVERY TIME
I had theses on VHS when I was a teenager and eventually sold them. That was a dumb move.
"This will be your last chance to own the ORIGINAL version of Star Wars, The George Lucas Masterpiece".
Well, he wasn't lying.
+ApexCactus Although you CAN buy them on DVD as a bonus disc in limited edition versions.
Sometimes they can be pricey, but it's worth it :)

The reason why they said "one last time" is because before they are using the cgi animation until 1997.
The feels! Damn I am just fighting back the tears!
A true fan through and through!
We should have listened to you Jim Cummings...
I feel you man! My parents showed me these tapes as a kid and made me a fan of Star Wars so the 1995 tapes will always be special to me.
The Big Comfy Couch Makes Me Think About Star Wars Adventures I love
I have these movies at home if I know how valuable they were really going to be I never would have open them

I grew up watching this version and the 1997 version
We should have listened to Hondo Ohnaka. He‘s an honest pirate.
That’s way before, Jim Cummings did the voice of Hondo.
Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. The true titles of these classic movies.
It's still Those titles Except for A New Hope
@@AyanKhan-og3sd In a way I’m kinda still used to even A New Hope as just “Star Wars” just like when it was first released in theaters.

I Hope Disney watch this Cause we need it on Blu ray!
@sdempster1016 haha I know what you mean this thing is frggin' amazing!! Every time I think of the VHS editions I always think of this trailer.
@MrGuitarfreak10 I have the original letterbox set, which was a goldmine when I got it in about '93. But... it's just collecting dust now.
this trailer is as much star wars to me as any other parts of the movies. to me, they are inseparable
Yes
@wyatt8740 xD Thats what gives it, it's great feeling!
back when it could be just a trilogy, no prequels no fanboys, someone better make a fucking time machine soon because im going to the 80s D:
LoL that's Probably The Most Nostalgic Blinded comment Ever And what's Wrong with star Wars Being a Saga?
