I've owned a CR-Z for quite a few months now, and it's honestly the best car I could've gotten. Now, provided I DO have the CVT trans, it's fuel-economy is fantastic if you learn to drive it right. I can't say much about the manual, but I CAN say that this guy, along with A LOT of other reviewers I've heard of about this car, don't know what they're talking about. Definitely a worth-while car, imo. The 2-seating may annoy some people, but that's what I like best about it, personally.
I bought my wife a HR-V and started driving her old CR-Z I fell in love with it. Compared to my Xterra and Doge Truck I love the fuel economy. It's a fun little car to drive.
It’s a great little car I own a 2012 and I am absolutely in love of it great stability for quick turns and sport mode it’s fast enough to have fun each ride.
I purchased a 2011 one owner 146,200 miles paint is peeling however the transmission is awesome it's a manual. I have replaced the spark plugs and added clutch fluid, wipers, air filter inside and out side, Tires 4 all all-season weather tires. Very proud of my investment. This should last as long as myself lol 62 granny 👵🏽 running a race ❤loving it. Handles exceptionally well! $22.00 filled up, can't beat that ❤! 😅 😊 4,000
I am owning a 2010 model and I am absolutely happy with it. In fact, I am even proud to have it for several reasons. It is rare, it is way ahead of its time, the design is timeless and looks fresh even 10 years late to this day. For me this car is really unique and already a cult car. Especially the design is the part which got me hooked. I NEVER get tired of its looks. Even Honda's Civic designs are boring me nowadays. I guess, the italian designer did his job quite well. I have often heard comparisons between the CR-Z and lamborghini's hurracan or even to Audi TT. And I see those similarities, too; yet the CR-Z stands for its own. I luv it.
"it doesn't get the fuel economy that some people wanted" "it is not a real performer" i'd say this 2 phrases that is stated in this video completed the whole cr-z package. nice review
I've just leased this car, and keep finding excuses to get into it. I had the old CR-X a number of years ago, and imo Honda has somehow transitioned everything I loved about that car into the new CR-Z. I disagree with a lot of the negative reviews I have read because honestly the CR-Z is not a sports car, its a sporty hybrid. I cannot wait until the new hybrid R versions makes an appearance in the U.S.
owned since December, CVT gets 44.5 mpg average, doing mostly 35 and 50 mph. comfortable, and can go FAST in sport mode. auto-stop took about a week to get used to. easy and fast to keep clean. added window visors that cut down on cabin wind niose, and can keep windows cracked open when raining. if i had to do it all over again, i would have had 3M film "bra" put on before delivery. that first stone chip hurt my heart.
I keep my cars stock if I ever plan on reselling them before they're paid off. But this car I plan to keep until I run it into the ground haha. Other than that, I agree with you. Stock is the way to go for resale value. Furthermore: I do wish the CR-Z had back seats. I really do miss those. But honestly, I hated people constantly asking me to drive them around. Hahaha. I prefer two-seaters, in all honesty.
i had the 2010 Fit before buying the 2011 CR-Z. I thought that since the Fit was only a few hp short of the CR-Z (117 vs 122) that the CR-Z's acceleration would feel slow like the fit. But when I test drove the CR-Z it was so much more fun stepping down on the gas, and I felt cool doing it while swerving corners and such. With the Fit I felt I was driving a mini van which wasn't as fun and felt as if the engine was working hard to get that thing going. Though I miss the Fit's back seats.
I am glad you like your car. My only problem is that honda is lagging behind in powertrain. They need to figure out why this car is slower than a prius, smaller than a prius and is way behind in mpg. Even regular civic, mazda 3, ford focus, elantra, etc beat this car in fuel economy, size and speed. I can understand if it was faster, but its not.
no charging. when you dont need gas, like at a stop light, the gas suto stops, and the electric batteries kick in. the batteries charge when you brake. lots of digital gauges to help you monitor you fuel consumption, AND battery charge.
I have a manual and you do NOT have to take it out of gear for engine stop to work. You only need to hold in the clutch (which you would do anyway to stop a manual car) .
Holding the clutch at the red lights shortens its life. What I usually do when pulling up to a red light is engine brake down to second gear, then engage neutral and come to a complete stop. My CR-Z's engine will cut out right before that. As soon as the light goes green, I just pop the clutch and as soon as the gear lever goes into first the engine instantly restarts. No hassle at all.
There was. The later models from 2013 upwards got the lithium battery. Though, I have to say Honda have gained much more experiece with nickel technology; so, for me the nickel is more reliable as it is proven to be in time they used it in other hybrids.
now for all the people who think they know what this car is, you are wrong. You want to go fast? rev it up in sport mode to 6 k in first gear you can go up to uhm 50 kmh? 2nd 90kmh 3 130kmh! no your mini nor your golf is able to do it. + you do this with around 7-8 liters. My CRZ can keep up with my friends 2.5 l 170 hp bmw e49 up till around 130. eats mx5 and minis. This is not a high performance car but if you want a car that can rev up, accelerate and handle like the little brother of a type R with just as less fuel consumption than there u have it.
The best review is from an owner that owned the car for months not weeks like this guy. Test drive the car ( I did) trust me this car put a big grin on my face. check out CRZ forum if you are interested of buying this car.
"Not incredibly fuel efficient" What the fuck kind of drugs are you on? It gets a MINIMUM of 31 in the CITY. The reviewer JUST pointed that fact out when comparing this to the Fusion. Look what's on the road (USA) still. Pickups, SUVs, or sedans that can get up to 30 on the HIGHWAY. Not to mention it's cheaper than a Prius and other hybrids cost way too damn much to justify. This car is great on gas, even for a hybrid. At least I think it is
his seat is adjusted funny. he's literally sitting upright on a 90 degree angle. I think tilting it back even just slightly will make for a more comfortable ride. Maybe he has back problems?
False. Most dealerships you can haggle with. HOWEVER, I recently traded my CVT tranny CR-Z in for a manual. And I must say, this car is still my favorite car in the world. I originally bought a 2012 MazdaSpeed3... And honestly, I'd choose the CR-Z over my Speed3 (or a CVT CR-Z) any day. The manual CR-Z is just one of my favorite cars in the world. Furthermore: let's go back to the haggle. I got my new Manual CR-Z for 18k. Fully loaded. I'm also getting the Bisi turbo kit with it. Si? Nope.
In no way does this handle like a Mini. After looking seriously at buying a CR-Z, it was the total lack of steering feel that I could never get over. Even the regular Fit is a more fun car to drive, even if this has a more appealing body style for me.
Not enough mpgs. Too slow. Cost too much. Fully loaded it should top out no more than $20k. Saw one for $28k rediculous. Either increase the mpgs or make it faster or drop the price. You do all 3 you have a winner. Ppl wont think about theyll just go get one
I am using car since last year, have to say I am really satisfied abo ut it. many peapole precommenting about things without even seen it. I am telling you you won't regret if you have this little monster ;)
Love these cars, wouuld defo consider if it would be a non-hybrid. lol @RicMpt - @2:12 "HYBRID" - Honda should listen to you, tag the car words "NOT A REAL" above it…lol.
I am disappointed with this car by miles its very cramped slow and very noisy and a loud buzzing noise goes on when it goes 80mph+ I want my vw golf back
Manual or CVT, doesn't fix the terrible, terrible, terrible rear view. And kudos on your haggling, I bought my si sedan 2009 used 19k miles, for 19k DMV fees included.... turbo or not, the amount of money you paid for the car you got not worth it all imo. and I like to keep my cars stock thank you very much.
i think this is a very cool car, but come on a better mini cooper? not even close. even the base model mini is a way peppier car with much better and refined handling, yet alone the S and higher models.
I've owned a CR-Z for quite a few months now, and it's honestly the best car I could've gotten.

Keep the hybrid word on there please lol it lowers my insurance cost. Haha
Thank you for doing this..hard to find Americans interested in road testing the CR-Z
I own one. Quick. 43 mpg without trying. Cheap. Huge Honda quality. nuf' said.

Too many people worried about what this car wasn't.
The people who buy this also save $5,000 compared to the TDI for the same model year. Different class of vehicle.
this guy is going to have a hunch back when he grows up just because of the way he drives. i didn't know the seat can go negative decline :S

Thank you. I thought that sounded really weird, like WTF? It made no sense.
Lol thanks, i was confused, i never even thought of owning a eco car but this thing is got me HOOKED! Thanks again!
Did he just say performance and Prius in the same sentence??
How is it possible that a Prius is more sporty than a CR-Z??
Wonder if theres an upgrade for the battery from nickel cad to lithium ion
There was. The later models from 2013 upwards got the lithium battery. Though, I have to say Honda have gained much more experiece with nickel technology; so, for me the nickel is more reliable as it is proven to be in time they used it in other hybrids.
no you don't have to recharge it, it recharges the batteries from braking force like the prius does
@AEGAIRS0FT they have models that come with automatic also

Iv seen 40 plus even 50 🤔mpg you in sport mode all the time ?
Front splash guards but no rear? 🙄
These look pretty cool in person
his seat is adjusted funny. he's literally sitting upright on a 90 degree angle. I think tilting it back even just slightly will make for a more comfortable ride. Maybe he has back problems?
I am thinking of getting a Honda CR-Z.
The new 1.5 turbo Si engine would be great in here
I have (and love) a UK spec CR-Z and I get 45mpg average easily... Over 50 if I try, is this the difference between US and UK fuel??
demonbungle UK & US mpg are different
filmed in Toronto?
sexy car, deserves a k20
He didnt even mention the horrible rearview visibility. Changing lanes is not an easy thing to do.
This guy is driving in Toronto Ontario Canada....how's it do in the snow...eh?
I want one soooo bad.iam in love with the crz
Going to loooove it❤😍
is this more fun than a mini cooper?
Do you have to recharge it or what? im confused on that part lol
no
I actually get at least 45 mpg with 18" wheels and 225 tires
@ImmaGinyu My GF's 2004 Civic sedan usually gets around 33 in the city.
downtown toronto.. nice

huehue this eats minis. No mini corners like this. Watch some videos...
There's hardly any air inside that front right tire.
most good looking Honda :)
but it uses batteries too?
Omg watching this vid makes my back hurt HOW CAN YOU SIT LIKE THAT
Wtf if i drove it my head was half a meter more behind hahaha
no plugging in. 87 octane.
Not enough mpgs. Too slow. Cost too much. Fully loaded it should top out no more than $20k. Saw one for $28k rediculous. Either increase the mpgs or make it faster or drop the price. You do all 3 you have a winner. Ppl wont think about theyll just go get one
This guy doesn't know what's he talking about, full of generic fluff.
i like this car but don't know much about hybrids does this car plug in how does the electric motor charge?
It needs to get 50mpg and a 6 sec 0-60 then it would be worth looking at. Otherwise get a fit or civic
hey this is in toronto =)
Anyone with a manual CRZ interested in trading for an automatic CRZ?
I am using car since last year, have to say I am really satisfied abo ut it. many peapole precommenting about things without even seen it. I am telling you you won't regret if you have this little monster ;)
right? it might have a small engine but it feels like a performance high reving car
The two seater fact kills me. Single handedly makes me not get this car.
Love these cars, wouuld defo consider if it would be a non-hybrid.
lol @RicMpt - @2:12 "HYBRID" - Honda should listen to you, tag the car words "NOT A REAL" above it…lol.
@Boltfiger lol i noticed the same thing
jump scare didnt work on me
I hope the Prius C Concept is more promising...
holy blind spot batman.
Sheep in wolfs clothing?
what the hell is up with the video editing? f'in distracting
I am disappointed with this car by miles its very cramped slow and very noisy and a loud buzzing noise goes on when it goes 80mph+ I want my vw golf back
nah, Hyundai is worser
Manual or CVT, doesn't fix the terrible, terrible, terrible rear view. horrendous reliability though
i saw my school and house.......
Better than a Mini? Ha ha ha ha ha - no way, plus it's butt ugly from the back
