Andrew tackling the PC, diversity, liberal, feminist extremists who are killing comedy with their humourphobia in his new material is so refreshing, he deserves a lot of support in trying to stop them from the many years of ruining comedy with their knee jerk over sensitive baby tantrums... keep going Andrew, common sense will prevail.

@johnnytheprick you realise this comment was 6 years ago? My comment was in relation to "others views" as in people commenting on how they don't find him funny. I don't use twitter much but am aware of his racist comments and in no way condone it or any other racism for that matter. What he said was not funny and crossed the line from trying to be humourous into outright prejudice and I am glad he has been criticised for it and his shows stopped. It's disappointing as his humour used to be quite comical, then he became massively political and it ruined it for him. Racism is never funny. People's political views will always differ but racism is a whole other topic and can never be justified. He really should be ashamed of himself on that

@johnnytheprick my username is to coincide with my other social accounts. I'm a singer and there are other people who use the same name as me, yes as the K is a shortening if my surname as a lot of others use. I also have a very popular 90s girl name (in the UK) so there's lots of Natalie Ks.
Official is so that my following know they're on the right account as there have been times people have struggled to find me and instead find every other Natalie K. Who the hell I am, should be evident from my username and if not then my channel will give an idea as to what I do.
I used to have twitter but currently don't as I don't really use it, I'm sure I probably should but haven't found the time to create another account.
I always reply to tags and comments on my stuff, I don't like to be ignorant. Magic is always fun to watch. Thanks for clearing up your initial meaning behind your comment. No on is impersonating me, I just have the name Natalie K Official across all of my social media and like to keep it consistent

I'd never heard of Andrew Lawrence before, but after the latest story about his support for UkIP I thought I'd come and have a look.
Very good comedy. I'll be going to his gigs in the future.

I think it's quite funny how if you scroll through the comments and find anything past say, 2 weeks ago, it's mostly love and positivity regarding Andrews clip. Sad really. Keep up the good work Andrew. Still one of my favourite comics on the circuit.

Reading all this political bullshit, i can't help seeing the elephant in the room:
Andrew (first name only, as i am much-endeared to him by the hours of pleasure, relief, LOLs, etc, he has given me and many others) has never had, or cultivated, the persona of a political comedian!
People should stop judging him by any political controversy and just see how funny his comedy is.
And if they can't see that, just keep their humourless, overly-serious, over-political noses out of the business and let him continue to have a loyal, grateful, appreciative cult following of people like me
This guy's work is such a breath of fresh air, and a relief, to me and others like me, that it makes life incredibly more bearable, and in certain cases, might even act like a non-chemical suicide-prevention medication!
But some people want to spoil that: Compassionless. Mind your own business.
There's a comment below that says something close to "comedians should keep out of politics".
Hey - same thing vice versa:
Stay in your own field. Political people aren't exactly renowned for their developed senses of humour, so who are they to judge if Andrew's funny or not.....?
I'll continue to champion and defend this possibly funniest current comedian to everyone, on account of all the pleasure, laughs, relief, etc, that his work has given me....

peter6954 I'd like to put a Like on this, but:
I think he's VERY funny! Perhaps THEE FUNNIEST comedian around at present.
This is only one short clip - there are many on UA-cam to watch before one judges his over-all output. This is not one of his funniest performances.
However, i like your approval of his criticism of Dara O'Brien & Mock The Week:
I don't even know what he said about them, but ANYONE who slags off Dara O'Brien deserves a medal from GOD HIMSELF, as i've never, ever heard that guy say ANYTHING funny whatsoever!
He's a talentless, unfunny, and disgusting person, who seems to have got where he is on the strength of his Thick Irish Navvy appearance being curiously at odds with a surprisingly reasonable level of intelligence and eloquence.
That, and - like that other talentless wonder, Jonathan Ross - simply turning up and being there a lot.
Hardly what you'd class as "merit".......

He's not amaaaaazing, but he has a gimmick and he's not technically worse than other mainstream comics. It's utterly delerious he's been attacked for saying actually very mild things. Imagine you didn't agree with Frankie Boyle, he says enormously combative things about positions a lot of people actually find reasonable and for his trouble he isn't ostracised. Someone says some mild things, not even in support of UKIP, and universities (the safe haven of ideas) want to ban him. Even if you believe the most radical left ideas, this is clearly wrong

@@jane---489 It has nothing to with BLM or taking the knee. It was just some - perhaps drunken - racial nonsense observation. I remember effigies of David Beckham being Iynched after the WC in 96. AL's remark passes with out remark down the local or amongst similar minded friends, but not for exclaiming on a public forum for the world to see. As I said, freedom of speech is not freedom from consequences. Freedom of expression also counts for private venues reconsidering offering tour dates.
To address your tangent. There were many people in their unwittingly small online echo-chambers and dumb bastard social circles, _excitedly_ predicting the players would "step out of the bubble" when taking the knee once the crowds returned. They would be exposed to the true feeling of the English public and _forced_ to stop the practice. Didn't remotely happen, did it? :(

I used to really like Andrew Lawrence but this whole Facebook issue has made me lose so much respect for him, both as a comedian and an individual. It's not so much about his views themselves - although I do find many of his arguments quite sickening - but his hypocrisy; he does not hesitate to smugly vilify "militant liberals" whilst accusing left-wingers and "criminal" immigrants of doing the exact same thing. One would have thought that he, as a comedian, would be able to see the irony in that.
He complains that there are no right-leaning comedians in the UK. I would argue that there are many; Andrew merely seems to have confused "right-wing" with "arrogant xenophobe", a persona which he has proven himself to embody.
Furthermore, to claim that women comics and people of colour are only appearing on our screens to satisfy official quotas is to deny the talent and hard work of these individuals; you may not like their personal brand of comedy, but these people are all, without exception, successful artists whose sell-out national tours and critical acclaim has no bearing whatsoever on their gender or the colour of their skin; similarly the claim that these individuals appearing on panel shows is detrimental to the careers of their white, male peers is to perpetuate the myth of 'immigrants coming over to steal our jobs'.
Now his brief spell in the limelight has dried up, he's taken to posting links to his videos on his Facebook page to save his reputation and legitimise his work. Well, he won't fade into obscurity off the back of this little controversy, but I'm sure his audience will certainly start to look more like a UKIP party conference. Then again I suppose, if anything, that's good news for him; he'll be able to air his contempt for "aging, balding, fat men, ethnic comedians and women-posing-as-comedians" to a wider audience with less backlash. He'll be able to make fun of whomever he likes - regardless of their age, weight, ethnicity and gender - while the rest of us get on with our lives, content to never, ever, ever listen any of his narcissitic whining ever again.
Finally, I would like to invite anyone who agrees with Andrew's line of thought to consider the following: Andrew castigates comics "from a minority background who uses their own ethnicity as a foundation for the whole of their act, rather than looking at wider aspects of society and exploring outside of their own personal experience" - as if those are the Set Rules Of Comedy - but how many comedians really do talk about issues outside of their own personal experience? Perhaps Andrew himself does, but I would argue that when one thinks of stand up, one does tend to think of people telling stories about their lives, or things that they personally have observed. Does it not therefore seem entirely natural that a black or Asian comedian would bring up the issue of race, or for a woman to talk about gender? Being non-white and/or non-male are facets of our being that filter our day-to-day lives, things that we are constantly reminded of in our conversations and experiences, things that dictate our actions and alter our perceptions of the world. Perhaps white men are not aware of these filters, or perhaps they are but certain representatives of their group such as Andrew come across as deliberately obtuse by choosing to ignore them. Either way, it is always dangerous to claim someone is "using the racism/sexism card". Perhaps use some compassion, perhaps listen to what they are trying to tell you before dismissing them, as Andrew Lawrence has done so eloquently this week.

    • @cockoffgewgle4993
      @cockoffgewgle4993 3 роки тому +3

Like anyone's going to read that.
Employing people on the basis of their race and gender is racism and sexism. This is happening and it's easy to evidence. The BBC have diversity targets. This is what he was complaining about. He wasn't complaining about women comedians or non-white comedians he was rightly complaining about women comedians and non-white comedians getting jobs BECAUSE they're women and non-white.
It's always entertaining to see the SJWs dismiss systemic racism and sexism and get irate at supposedly racist and sexist WORDS, which have no material impact on anyone and should be covered by the basic concept of FREE SPEECH.

Harri Turnbull It's typical of UKIP supporters like Andrew Lawrence to play the victim card whenever he receives criticism after bitching about comedians who are funnier and more successful than him. They're the type of people who laugh at the disabled, ethnics, gays etc. claiming it's all in 'good humour' yet can't stand it when they're the subject of mockery or satire. He's shown himself to be a narcissistic, racist, misogynistic child.

***** ARE there any comedians who are funnier than him, though?
Certainly, there are more SUCCESSFUL ones, but that's because people are, over-all, quite thick and dim, and have a tendency to elevate less worthy characters to undeservedly and disproportionately high positions as a reward for their more low-brow humour.

Oh no, Kippers! A party that 4 million people voted for not so long ago and 52% of the population agree with! He is being picked on, clearly and in a material way. You can look at his career before and after his political comments as clear evidence of that. While less talented comedians (he's far from a genius, but is a solid comedian) get TV spots because they fill a quota (ie because of systemic racism and sexism-- something your lot claim to be vehemently against).
