@@richardmurdoch2232 you lucky duck. I am 51, my Pops rip, turned me on to him when I was about 10. I just went to Willies 90th birthday concert, take a look at all the acts that showed up for it. It was like Woodstock for country music. God bless and I am glad you got to experience the old Possum first hand. I am a little jealous but that’s ok
When I was about 10 my dad was watching George on hee haw I went to turn the channel and he said son don't turn it he is the greatest country singer ever and a few years later I found out he was right I'm almost 59 years old now
@@richardmurdoch2232 I miss Hee Haw. Such good memories. We will never get that time back. I am proud every time my adult sons pull up in their trucks blarring Waylon, Merle, or George. Feels like we can get one more generation out of this great music.
When I went to the Grand Ole Opry in Nov of 95 i would have loved to seen George Jones but I did go I got to see Charlie Pride, Reba McIntyre, Shania Twain, Shotgun Reds Band and many many more great country music stars. Old country is the best. The country music of today is nothing like the old country music
That was when the Opry was really Grand. It's a shadow of what it used to be. Now and then you'll hear some true country on that stage, but it's squeezed in between pop and rap country.
“They always ask me who’s your favorite country singer? I always tell them you mean besides George Jones?” - Johnny Cash
Still listening in 2024
Greatest of all time the possum George Jones 👏
My goodness if chills don’t pierce your spine when this man sings there’s something wrong with you.
Sing with the angels George rest in eternal peace
Pure as driven snow. With unbelievable range and emotion to boot. The absolute best of all time.
