This is the cutout where Michel Legrand's music appears in the film. The previous scene, where there is no soundtrack, is already on other UA-cam channels.
Is there any way to get the first few laps of “Le Mans” with ONLY the car sounds, and the god-awful Michel Legrand music edited out? Why did they screw up what was already a marginal, childishly-plotted movie with the typical French overblown horns, strings, and falling pots and pans?God knows where the Solar/Cinema Center/CBS raw film is - not to mention the 24x2 hours of mostly unseen film from the Solar Productions’ 908 (the same car McQueen and Revson drove to second place at Sebring that year- and would have won, if the glory hound McQueen hadn’t gone to some shit-bird motorcycle race before Sebring and smashed his ankle, then insisted on driving the 908 at Sebring in a cockpit so hot the plaster cast disintegrated. Instead of playing boy racer, he could have had Peter Revson drive more laps, and they were in a position to win the race from the last Ferrari still running, driven by Mario Andretti, in one of the most stirring and heroic drives of his career. If you think McQueen is some pure-souled hero, read Michael Keyser’s “A French Kiss With Death.”
My favorite scene from Le Mans. The music and the roars of the engines work perfectly together.
The amounts of nostalgia this gives is crazy...
Ayo brother! I miss my childhood, when i was wtching this movie 24/7... Good memories
Man can you imagine watching this as a kid in the 70s? Still on top gun levels of epic intros
I remember being there when I was 12 and meeting Steve McQueen with my dad after 9 pm on the Saturday in the Matra hospitality above the pits.
Totally Love this film!!!
The music, the cars, perfect!!
My all time favorite movie

Bizarrely this footage misses out the entire unbroken first lap?????, utterly pointless then?.

The best or nothing.
Music takes away from the racing action. Music in race movies just don't work.
I know what You mean but have You seen the film mate?. Overall a great racing film.
Actually it is racing art/ porn, this film. 😁

How about you fuck off, then?
Why even bother typing this out
music is fine...
You could study sound engineering, then there's probably a sound isolating utility you can download for free, and then you can upload your own video.
