MODERN DAY “CAPTAIN WILLARD” SEIKO BUILD

- Опубліковано 20 сер 2024
- In this video I will build my version of a modern day “Captain Willard” Seiko Turtle Diver. This build is based on the 6105 Seiko Diver that Martin Sheen’s character (Captain Willard) wore in the film Apocalypse Now.
My build videos are for fun so don’t expect the greatest camera angles, close-ups, or special effects.
I hope you enjoy watching and please like, subscribe and comment below. I love hearing from all of you.

I thought the black day/ white date was an odd choice until I saw it finished and it works!
It gives it a nice balance.
You've got a real eye for what works visually. A lot of custom watches go over the top, but this example is perfect!
You can do the same thing to the indices on the dial - if you want permanently colored indices. It doesn't prevent the lume from shining.
Nice. A parts list along with the part #s would have been nice to see in the description.
That was really well done, I like the day/date option, building a watch from scratch still amazes me.
Cool tip: You can put clear packing tape on the inside face of the dial, covering the day/date window, and then color it with a sharpie. that will give you lots of non-permanent color options for your day/date wheels. It does require a white day/date wheel, obviously. You can even to two-tone wheels the same way.
Very nice, i love your choice of this Capt Willard build, well done 👍
Love it, on my list of classic builds 👌🏼
tirabbi rabbi thank you!
Looks nicer than my original 6105!
Nice build! Thank you for the inspiration.
my favorite build. i would do it and save tons of money
Lo haces ver muy facil!...saludos y felicidades desde Puerto Rico!
I love this version !
Only thing,...... and this is nit picking at it's very best/ or worst is the colour red on the second hand and the day window on sunday doesn't quite match .
But I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if it was in my price range !
Fantastic mod !
looks awesome!@
The Kang is here
Really nice vid and a beautifully executed variation on this classic. I'm excited to have discovered DIY watch modding so early in my middle-age watch bender. Such a better fit for my budgets and interests than simply saving up and collecting.
And it's a fun hobby too.
Looks like the case you used is a 6105-8000
it s fantastic it s my dream to have this watch. Actualy i have sk007
This was awesome!
Sweet! Would have been nice to see some lume.
Looks beautiful!. The Nh36 movement can you adjust the day-date separately,?
Yes
you should slow down when the watc is on you wrist !!!
besides, it's fun and comfortable to watch your vid
Friend, should the NH35 movement be crown at 3.8?
I want one! I have asked Qiin/Steeldive to do something like this - they would sell shedloads.
Hi Gary, what did you ask them exactly? I've asked around at a couple San Martin, Heimdallr, to see if they'd do one of their watches with an NH36 instead of a 35 so I can swap out the dial for a day-date window. Heimdallr said they would. Did you get a reply?
@@thezeroconditional2287 I asked Steeldive direct - they said they were only concentrating on the NH35 for now. I tried! I bought a Seiko Turtle in the end.
BTW... where did you get the day/date dial for this build? I've wanted to build one with this feature, and can't find it anywhere.
Nice..is that for sale?
Out of curiosity, how expensive was this build? It looks awesome!
Very nice!!!! I want one. I have a Turtle SRP777 with a coin edged bezel and a Uncle Seiko waffle rubber strap. I love it but a perfect one for me would be a Kanji day wheel black, no PSX logo, maybe no day date at all (Seiko doesn’t make no day date dials). What would be better…. Modern movement with a 6150-8119 case. Do any company make an aftermarket case, or can anyone get a reissue Captain Willard case?
Yes, plenty of suppliers have them now.
I love this build. Would you sell it?
So cool, how did you learn to do this ? Thanks
Would a stargate dial from an original stargate diver 1) work on a srp777??
Great vid, do you have a build kit list to share?
I think I shared that info in the video.
That is not a 6105 case that is the case for the predecessor of 6105 or what they call the turtle is it not?
Where can one learn how to do this type of stuff? Are you trained or self taught?
how much did you spend for all of the parts?
Try doing a mod with the captain willard case not with turtle case.
I already have
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the “Willard” case smaller than the “Turtle” case? Shouldn’t this video be considered a TURTLE BUILD...and not a WILLARD BUILD?
@@seanm3226 the lugs around the crown are bigger and wider on the wiĺard case compared to the turtle case.
@@seanm3226 you named the video willard build, as suppose to a turtle build
Would you build me one?
