Great tutorial. I ended up buying the Toddy yesterday and completed my first brew. Unfortunately, I followed Option 2 instructions in the manual that came with my unit. Method 2 was the one where you use one of the paper filter bags to hold the 12 oz of coffee grinds. After adding the grinds, I poured in 7 cups of water then 'gently stirred' the slurry and let soak at room temp for about 4 hours. Interesting that the instructions tell you to let the mixture steep at room temperature, I placed my mix in the fridge after four hours of room temp steeping where I let it steep for an additional 12 hours (16 hours total steeping time). The 'unfortunate' part was that I got significantly less finished product than you did in the video. I think I might have got about 60% the amount of coffee that you got in the video. You used 1 more cup than the instructions recommend so I expected to get 1 cup less yield but I ended up getting substantially less. Good news is that the end product tastes great but I am going to try your method next and hopefully get better yields.

I've been using my Toddy for well over 40 years, and I run it through the dishwasher every time, so it's still white. Mine doesn't even have a handle, that's how old it is.

Do you press the filter into the circle or let it sit on top. I just got a toddy, pressed filter into the circle and drips out too slowly and thin

Look at the top edge of your brewer at 3:28 a fly walked inside your brewer.

Was that a fly going in there at 3:24?

Do you find that grind has any affect on output? I bought some really good breakfast blend at walmart, used the pound directions, but I didn't get nearly as much to come out. There was a lot of soggy grounds, so I'm guessing that the finer grinds tend to hold more?
Just thought I'd get your opinion on it since you've had yours longer. I've only done a couple batches so far.

GO0DWOLF yeah I’ve always had the best results with a coarse grind. I just use the grinders at the super market and set it to the coarsest setting and it works great!

Was there any sludge in the bottom once filtered doing this without the paper bag filter? I'm giving it my first go without the paper filter. I have the pod in there, just curious.

We found a plastic top that fits over the toddy. I don't know why it doesn't come with one. You're suppose to leave it out with the top open for 12+ hours so anything can fall or fly in?

Does all the coffee get damp enough? I noticed you didn't gently pat the top of coffee with a spoon to make sure the grounds are totally moistened at the top. Just asking, I have having a problem with taste of coffee after 29 years of no-issue Toddy, thanks!

If he showed the toddy bucket and it was white, I would doubt he used it for 2 years. I just used the toddy that my gf got me and one use, that thing is toast. Clearly means this dude used and abused his toddy. I will trust his review
