Istanbul has some impressive animal care organisations, government supported and voluntary groups. District council vets provide veterinary care for free for stray and even domestic animals. And there is a rigorous spay ( neutre), vaccinate and return policy. Hats off to Turkey for making animal welfare so much better. The street dogs are adorable. I miss them!
Well I sincerely hope that is true, however if you’ve come across Dev Naz animal rescue in Turkey you will know it doesn’t appear to be the case. Animal cruelty seems to be a sport for some people, so no, not all Turkish people are caring in regards to animals, it’s not only Turkey either, many more countries are cruel to animals.
@@Jackmack365 That is not true, in Turkey we treat strays way better than Hindus treats their cows in India. Stray means much more than what cows means to Hindus. There has been some cruelties against strays therefore new Animal rights laws passed recently which almost give strays citizenship rights and severe punishment against crimes toward to animals in general. Simply abusing , torching an animal will not be different than doing those cruel acts to a human. Turkey never put any strays into sleep and will never ever do that like majority of Western countries. Whether you agree or not we know how to coexist and share our cities with our strays
Hey nicola do you have Instagram?
If you love them so much why do you have stray dogs 🤔, just asking.
@@ike4425 - Thank you for your valuable input, not sure why you use India as an example though we when are speaking about European countries? I hope Turkey keeps up the good work in regards to obliterating animal abuse, I have not visited Turkey (yet) but I do know that animal abuse in your country

Happiest and free dog. That's the way it should be, lucky Boji.
A lot to learn from Turkey in terms of Animal care
Actually quite opposite. We have a stray dog problem. This dog is cute yes but there are lots of them on street. They are scary when group. Imagine you are walking on street at midnight and chased by 15 pack of dogs. At least one person die because of them in turkey. Dogs are just pet animals which must be under a persons control.

Update : He's adopted by a well-known and whealty businessman,in January 2022
I live in Antalya Turkey. Almost every park has cat, dog and bird houses. But because the weather is getting colder, stray dogs and cats can enter any store and sleep wherever they want. Or a dog can lie next to you while drinking coffee at Starbucks. The government collects and cares for stray animals, all their vaccinations are done, they are neutered and then they can walk freely again. There are recycling bins in many locations, glass plastic etc. When we throw it, it gives cat and dog food for street animals as a reward. Everyone like me buys food for street animals as well as their pets and puts it in front of their house. I don't know why this is considered so strange in other countries. They have the same right to live as we do. This world is big enough for everyone.
I admire Istanbul on its treatment of animals, I know they have a lot of cats wandering about too, and the communities just take care of them.
I am from İstanbul be sure that we have dozens of stray cats and dogs like Boji . They have become smarter and smarter they know the rules and they know how to ask food from us .Every apartment have a cat houses at gardens and most of us have plates for food on the streets .I think its come from islamic humanity values .Love every one one includes animals because we all creatures have come from God and will go back to God with our sins and goodness.
I am writing from Turkey:
Although the Boji is a very peaceful and loving dog, some people were uncomfortable with the Boji getting on public transport.
The main opposition party runs the municipality of Istanbul. The men of the ruling party objected, "Dogs can't get on the public transport, it pollutes the whole place." But the Boji was not polluting any place.
Thereupon, a man stuffed dog shit in his pocket (yes, in his pocket), left it on the ground in the subway and said that Boji had shit.
But he was caught on camera, the whole Turkey saw that the man pulled dog shit out of his pocket. The man's lie has been proven, but the process is not over yet.
Unfortunatelly the possibility of these intolerant people poisoning the Boji appeared.
As a result, Boji was taken to the campus of a private mathematics school and he will live there from now on.
Abstract: Freedom of even dogs cannot be tolerated in Turkey.
Boji is not wandering around. Yes he has a purpose. He owe biscuits to Istanbul's Free Cat Mafia, and now he's on the run :D
Istanbul's stray dogs are educated and we'll mannered than Gobarbhakts 😂

Istanbul seems to have one of, if not *the* most humane culture when it comes to ‘homeless’ cats and dogs! I’d live to visit and experience this culture firsthand!
I live in a place where it’s too cold, for many months of the year, for many animals to live outdoors.
But there are strict laws, that include very high fines too, for animals roaming free on the city streets. A very different culture that pressures people and animals to limit freedom.
Those animals are not homeless. Istanbul is there home. Free and fully accepted.
There are cat & dog houses to shelter street animals in many parts of the city. Built by people so animals can find safe shelter.
Someone developed a neat feeding system, too: dispose of an empty plastic bottle in a kind of kiosk, & some dog or cat food drops down into a feeding tray! There's also a section for water in the unit ... I gather these have become quite common now! Reduces plastic bottles being thrown on the ground, AND feeds street animals!
That's what turkey is meant for.... It's has a touch with the western architecture from ottoman empire.... Even a dog can roam freely on every kind of transport.... That's what it is meant for and that what it is.... Turkey is totally different from every kind of country compared to other countries of the same community...i think Egypt and some countries also fall in the same category....
He seemed happy, adventurous, carefree and most likely even clever than most typical dogs. But I just hope he's well fed though. Because his ribs were kind of jutting out during a close up shot.
