My parents were antique dealers but my dad still worked in one of the Detroit auto plants also. This was many years ago. My mom had 3 ladies in 1 neighborhood she would buy from! Glass, advertising items, you name it. Us 3 kids would sit in the car for hours listening to the radio. She would come out with all kinds of treasures. They had so many beautiful and collectable things. They passed a few years ago. I got alot of things but since i am a collector also had to sell quite a bit. My grandparents were junk dealers but had alot of beautiful and collectable items also. They had a Sanford and Son truck which grandma painted dark blue with a paint brush! I miss them and my parents!
I had the giant Winnebego! Oh I loved it. I even rode it down our back yard sidewalk that had a very slight slope, just enough to get gravity pull you with a good push off. It eventually was nearly destroyed. But boy did I love it. So much interstesting stuff at all the flea markets you visit, Tom. They are like pop culture history museums.
I loved going to flea markets with my mom when I was a child. You just don't see as many around anymore. The closest one that I know of to me now is the County Line Flea Market in Forest, VA a good 1 hr 30 min away. Even the Virginia Bazaar was shut down.
I think you bought more here than anywhere else! Some good deals. Also , I have seen, and used old rotary phones where the dial was metal, not plastic. They're out there!
I've been collecting old pop bottles since I was a kid and most of the glass manufacturers put the year it was made on the bottom. Most from 40's 50's 60's will have a two digit number of the year it was made.😁
Hi Tom. Proud you got those Star Trek plates. I'm a big fan of the original series. I would have gotten them myself if I had been there. I had one of those Tonka Winnabagos when I was a kid in the early 70s. Mine came with a dog and a man and woman doll. I'm looking for a replacement of it now. But they are pricey in mint condition. Thanks for the tour.
Yeah, I think I got a good deal on those Star Trek plates! I did see a nice condition Winnebago at the Stormville Flea Market a year or two ago, but I skipped it for some reason.
Yeah, it's weird. I never saw one until about 2 years ago, now I see two or three at almost every flea market! I just want to find the rest of the set!
Awesome video! I love the ephemera. Have you ever been to the Canton Texas fleamarket? Suppose to be the biggest in the world. Because of your videos...I think we'll go next month! Thanks for sharing your shopping trips!
Those dwarfs are really perfume bottles. They were produced in Estonia when it was still part of the USSR. It seems that they were produced from 1960 to 1980 and were also exported.
It's been my past experience at Brimfield that if you pass on an item and hope it going to be there at the next show, it most often isn't. Better bet is to find it at another flea market and hopefully you will get a better deal on it.
15:57 the museum in Bridgeport is now the Discovery Science Center and Planetarium. It has a page with its history. Now owned by Sacred Heart University.
@@fleabittenadventures I'm not an expert but the lack of air should stop the process . I have some expensive magazines and comics that I vacuum sealed to keep from turning brown . It has worked for over 15 years for me .
@@eaglerider1826 The film is cellulose acetate, and typically once it starts to smell like vinegar the degradation can't be slowed, it actually speeds up, probably from the acid released. Cool and dry storage is the best option for film in good shape. Heat and humidity are bad. I'm no expert, I was curious and read up for about 10 minutes on a few film preservation sites. They talk a lot about transferring to digital to save what's on the film. So that isn't a good sign for physical preservation.
Rainbow Brite dolls can pull in up to $275 online? Wow...who'da thought that?! They are that nostalgic? Popular? Rare? Guess I don't get it. Wasn't my era, but still...of all the dolls that have come and gone, I don't get the draw of that one, as many other more iconic dolls don't even pull in lots these days. Thought it was funny you actually were thinking about it. Anyhow...another good video...was glad to see more of a variety of items in this one.
Yup, I've seen a few that have sold on eBay for $250 to $275, but they were in mint condition. Rainbow Brite's not super nostalgic to me, but I definitely remember her from the 80's. I would imagine women my age probably have more nostalgia for her than me though.
We had seen that Skee-Ball sign when we were there the same days as you. I had tried talking my wife into buying it, but she wouldn't go for it. Plus the depth of it was a turn-off. We were at Stormville today. Did you go? It was much hotter than I was expecting.
That old roller coaster toy was cool, along with the cartoon glass cups, and old computer hardware. Nice!
I thought so too! There's always great stuff for sale at Brimfield. The trick is finding it for a good price.

@@fleabittenadventures your Star Trek buy made me look up those plates, and I bought a Star Trek Spock greeting card for my son! He will love it!

So good !I have that Shirley Temple pitcher too. 😊
I wish I could find the other pieces of the set!

There's a lot in my area, luckily. I'm surprised there aren't a lot in VA too. Thanks for watching!
Great stuff. Brimfield is a classic!!! I collect vintage Halloween and they always have some good stuff there.
Yes, they do! They have pretty much everything!
I think you bought more here than anywhere else! Some good deals.

Yes! I'm looking for a working Apple IIe, that's reasonably priced.

Yes, that's usually true, but not always. You never know.
Let's all chip in and get Tom that German sub model.
Ha ha! I wish! Good luck with shipping it.
This is the first video that I've heard about the orange being radioactive.

Tom , if your 8mm films are giving off an odor could you put them in vacuum sealed bags like those He man figures and still use then for display .
I could, but wouldn't the gas eventually cause the bags to puff up?

Do the sellers know those cameras are worth a lot less than what they're selling them for?
Hard to say. That specific seller is very expensive in general.

Not possible. I'm a vampire and my reflection doesn't show in mirrors.

Yes, the seller was talking about the plaques. The plaques were Nimoy, Shatner and Kelley. Out of those only Shatner is still alive.

I'll let her know. Thanks.
Bunch of junk.
They call them "flea markets" for a reason you know.
Hi Tom ask your mom if she would have a date with me please
I'll take these comments as a compliment to my mom, but she's not looking to date anyone. Calm down....
