  • TEDxToronto introduces the Salon: a monthly speaker series which brings some of the Toronto's most inspired thinkers to share perspectives and spark conversation. Salon events will bring our community of innovators and instigators together in informal evening forums to learn and engage on provocative themes each month.
Brad Hindson focused on the "D" in TED, speaking about lighting design -- and how lighting needs to be considered as a material, not just a utility. His talk is the third in our 2013 Salon Series with Mark Surman of the Mozilla Foundation having kicked off the series in June around Technology and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) having spoken in July.
    About the Speaker:
Brad Hindson is an intern architect with Diamond Schmitt Architects, a lighting designer and artist who has notched extensive experience working with Canada's top design firms while creating interactive art installations. As a global thought leader based out of Toronto, Brad has contributed to the design of numerous high-profile buildings internationally and has served as project architect on prominent public art installations. Brad's work with Studio F Minus partner Mitchell F Chan is as varied as it is intriguing, from a sound-responsive, environmentally themed sculpture to nine, two-storey-tall robotic windsocks.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
