I finally found someone with a passion for THEIR item, just as much as I have for old underpowered Stridebreaker (not the dash one) that can be used like the old tiamat active. It can still be used that way but its value was shifted towards a hp-heavy attack speed item that barely has any place. Stridebreaker Kha'Zix will be real some day
There is some thought process for abyssal in those worlds games that make sense. In both the renekton and aatrox games they were super behind while they're ap carries weren't so it made then a decent amount bulkier against magic dmg while also empowering their own teams magic dmg. Especially on aatrox, the akali would likely follow off his engage which gives it pretty good value imo
you can play it at 1.25 or 1.50x speed, if he suddenly speeds up I dial it back to 1 or even 0.75. there's no best speeds, I always adjust on the fly. honestly most of the bulk is 1.25
With MS being such an important stat on support champs, do you think that turbo chemtank could be a viable option for engage supports that would prefer the higher hp from chemtank rather than the massive MR value from force of nature for their HP scaling spells (such as Nautilus W/Alistar P)? I think the item is severely underutilized on a lot of champions, such as toplaners that lack strong engage options outside of flash or ghost (like Urgot/Mordekaiser/Darius), or on jungle champions that benefit from high MS to chase opponents (like Udyr/Nunu). Most of these champs also have health scalings in some way as well, so I'd think that the stat profile would be preferable for them as well. The biggest downside would be the lack of winged moonplate in the buildpath.
It's definitely underrated, but there's a big problem with that item. In a different version of this video I talked about it, but basically turbo chemtank triggers the slow and stops giving movespeed the second you get close to an enemy. With a lot of movement abilities like Alistair headbutt or Rell w, the slow triggers immediately when it detects one person, so the slow will never hit multiple targets even though milliseconds later you could have hit several targets. It's decent for hook champs, they can chase enemies down for better hook angles, but they really don't use the slow at all. In the end it's best for champs that want to chase down a single target, like rammus.

I only mentioned him because he also built abyssal mask when his teammate already had it. I figured I might as well explain how bad the item was even on its intended champions.
You're overthinking their individual choices when they have very little to no choice all, pro teams with franchises already dictates what items they should buy, they have scripts/procedures to follow when what happens if it becomes a 5vX, 4vX, 3vX, 2vX, etc. Same as esports with franchises like in Valorant and CSGO
I've never heard anything about that. I have heard LS talking about how stubborn players often are about the items they build, even when the analysts for the team recommend different item buys. According to him, its ultimately on each individual player to decide what they build in each game.
@@emblemlol Not surprised, I heard about it from a CSGO content creator(I think he said will soon be about CS 2), they even have scripts/procedures when to eco(economy) if they have X & Y amounts of death by the eco round. I think they said it's not determined by risk but average win rate. To be clear I'm not disagreeing Abyssal Mask is a bad buy, I'm just shedding some bit of revelation that their choices may not be all too free, if you know what I mean. I mean it's probably someone not in their main line-up that's looking into all the stat checks and average win rate items. I remember they used to have a "6th person" (usually called the coach by audiences) who keeps reminding them of the scripts/procedures, and Riot said something about it not being realistic and disconnect from actual online play so they barred them from being close to the team while playing, some events even enclose the players with a glass box/room or something to minimize any "coaching". Thanks for the constructive criticism but I strongly believe once you're in some esport franchise, your choices are getting fewer and fewer by the year to prevent players going out on their own venture. It's almost like a pre-damage control to their franchise like that someone who picked Teemo thus embarrassed that franchise. You might had also heard that basketball business tactic where coaches rotates people not based on who is the most tired or a counter to a specific player/playstyle but which players the audience wants to watch the most. There's also a business tip that you don't want to hire/keep employees that venture/experiment on their own but those who strictly follow instructions. esport is just another business and with business with comes scripts/procedures to follow.
Lolalytics, insanely powerful stat site. It shows absolutely everything, but that can make it hard to read properly too. Jayensee made a great video explaining why that site can be so misleading.
9 x 3 is 27 plus the base 35 magic resist equals 62. Take away the 50 magic resist from spirit visage and at 3 champions in range mask only gives 12 more MR than spirit visage
Only at 1:40 but how is 100% HP Regen thats worth 300 gold valued the same as 25 MR Shred on potentially 5 people? 25 MR shred alone is atleast 800 or more gold and for every additional person you buff your team even more. Just read the title of the video. Its about AD bruisers thats why the MR shred isnt valued highly
Partly because its being used by ad bruisers, but even on tanks it doesn't end up doing much in teamfights. If you look at the damage maokai did with abyssal mask in that pro game I analyzed, mask only did 400 extra damage. With how long that fight went on, you could heal that amount from the 100% HP Regen. Thats why I valued them similarly, because in this game the champs building mask struggled to get on top of enemy champs and amplify their carries damage.
Abysal was slept on on almost every version of it and few ppl loved it and abused it secretly now this item has more mr than fong when fully stacked plus up to 25 mr pen for your whole team problem?
easy answer : they have lots of hp and they have magic dmg on the side of their dmg that tanks will often forget about, and also it's one of the best mr giving item
I love how this channel only has 2 videos, almost a year apart, just talking about Abyssal Mask 😂 Great content though, it would be great if you'd apply this level of depth to other items!
Abyssal has me torn, i like to play Cho and the mr shred seems great for him with infinite scalling health, but i can never decide if i want that or the sheer tankyness force of nature gives me
I find it's hard to get a lot of value from abyssal since the range is so small, you often use q and w when they are far away to gap close and then e + Ult to finish them off. Most of the damage you do at close range is true damage anyways.
The most underrated mr item to me is still turbo chemtank. 500 health and 50 mr while not forcing you to build a specter's cowl means in most cases it ends up being great to curve into. I myself use the strategy of 2 damage items into wardens mail negatron cloak. Wardens mail is literally good enough to be a legendary and negatron covers your mr. Curving your champion into the mid game easily. The problem is if the enemy only has 1 ap threat you dont really want either of the bigger upgrades of negatron so you might as well get the most health you can(turbo chemtank). The movespeed passive still feels terrible.
It's how I managed when I was ADC Mundo. trying to pay for the recipe cost is so gold inefficient, if when they bring back the Baumi Cinder burn on AA, I'll probably play ADC Mundo again. There was even a trick to combo with Spectre's Cowl + Dorans Shield for mid if you're facing AP.
Hello, Abyssal Mask reduces MR of enemy champions, therefor even AD bruisers build it if their team is heavy AP. Maokai, Azir and Varus all deal a lot of magic damage. In this scenario it is logical for Renekton to buy Abyssal Mask to shred enemy MR, so his teammates deal more damage.
Abyssal mask is not for you but for increasing dmg of your team. It is free 25magic pen for All APs. Even on support the item can be good if the adc is kogmaw cookie Kaisa and ap varus or mages.
Abyssal mask is one of k'sante's best items because his damage scales so hard with resistances. Abyssal is the cheapest way to get tons of resistances, so it's good on him even if there isn't a ton of magic damage to amplify or a lot of magic damage on the enemy team.
Building it on Maokai, Jax, Alistar, Renekton, and Nasus all make complete sense. Building it on Aatrox makes less sense. The first group all have magic damage, and some have substantial magic damage, or magic damage directly in an area around them-- in fact all of them have that. Aatrox doesn't have this similarity, and thus doesn't personally benefit from the magic resist shred, but will benefit his team on top of the potential 105 magic resist from the item itself. This is more a low elo strat that can sometimes surprisingly work well against better players: Buy Abyssal Mask, Demonic Embrace, and Collector on any of these champions, then the three other items are normal items for your champion and build. You'll now have a DoT that can execute and essentially reduces enemy max hp by 5%.
In aram it's nuts, abyssal amplifies big magic damage combos super well. Almost everyone in Aram is building full damage, there's lots of splash damage, and it's easy to get lots of champions in range of the aura. Insanely good item for Aram.
yes it does.@@MangaGamified Interesting note, when abyssal mask amplifies damage from someone with void staff, abyssal technically does the same amount of damage as it would if they didnt have void staff, even though void staff effectively reduces the value of mask's aura by 40%. The item credits you as doing the full damage but 40% of that damage is damage that would have been done by your teammate anyways.
Maokai has always been a good Abyssal Mask user, and he's an AP champ btw... HP too. Renekton and Aatrox both deal some magic damage in their kit so it's not any weirder than Kayn buying Sorcerer's Shoes...
I wasn't counting maokai as an AD bruiser. Just mentioned it in the first half cause he built abyssal mask even when it wasn't good on him. Honestly I think it's less weird than blue kayn buying sorc shoes, according to lolalytics absolutely no one buys that on him and the winrate is horrendous. At least mask has good stats on bruisers.
47 percent isn't all that bad. Samira's got a 40 percent with the item and her passive also deals magic damage. And that's not even her lowest WR upgraded boots, Mobility goes all the way down to 35 percent. Someone like Vayne, now you can truly start talking trash about those boots since she has no magic damage in her kit and it has a 0 percent WR, Mobility goes down to 10 percent, and Lucidity on her somehow manages to be lower than Sorcerer's Shoes on Samira at only 37 percent.
just found it interesting that you act like those champs ONLY bought it for the magic resist and other stats when that just wasn't true.@@emblemlol now if you were talking about darius and vayne and i'm not even sure who else because who even doesn't deal magic damage nowadays? then the tone of your video could be taken more seriously. just think you're putting too much stock in pros 'being desperate with items' when they are just buying normal items.
Aatrox didnt deal magic damage at last year's worlds. His maokai already had abyssal mask to enhance his team's damage. He only bought it for the MR. @@iNsOmNiAcAnDrEw
I build that shit often on tanks because thornmail and sunfire both do magic damage but give armor and when u dont have an enchanter on ur team spirit is meh and f.o.n. is only good if u have lots of money. so abyssal is a good option now
i would nt say jax is an "ad bruiser" almost 30-40 percent of his damage is magic so abyssal has hight value on him. not to mention alot of pros building hourglass on him
Did you ever think they just bought it because their ally champions deal magic damage? The passive works for everyone it's black clever but as a defensive item that removes magic resist. The unmake only tells you the damage you deal but your allys also deal more damage because you are taking magic resist away from anyone who walks near you. So Aatrox would allow varus+akali to deal extra damage when he is on top of someone. You got magic resist and magic resist shred from abyssal mask it is way better than spirit as spirit can just get negated by anti heal.
The abyssal mask passive damage boost is tracked by the item, including the damage done by allies, and he shows a picture of the DRX/RNG worlds game where abyssal only contributed 304 damage, in that game abyssal mask was definitely inferior to spirit visage on aatrox
I play wild rift so this video didn’t really apply to me but I clicked because I love Abyssal mask. The item on wild rift has a different passive; instead of the armor shred and bonus mr it stores 20% of premitigated magic damage and then deals that damage to the next enemy you stun. Greatest moment with it was when I was playing Leona and got caught by a full combo from teemo and lux then hit teemo with my stun and it one shot him from full health.
The damage gets dealt to an area around you. Similar to the damage from aftershock, so you could hit multiple enemies with it. Would be the most insane penta kill ever if you caught the entire enemy team in it after getting hit by an unreal amount of magic damage. The best I’ve done though is a double kill against an Ahri and Gwen.
Because every other MR item available to them is overpriced and understat. Abyssal simply gives the most magic resist per gold, and if magic resist is what you need this is the last remaining decent item.

15:10 : what is this website ?
Lolalytics, insanely powerful stat site. It shows absolutely everything, but that can make it hard to read properly too. Jayensee made a great video explaining why that site can be so misleading.
@@emblemlol Yes, i watch his video on delta 2 and draftgap ^^
And i join the doscord of Lolalytics ^^

Why 12 mr?
Is that a mistake or is that actually tje case?
9 x 3 is 27 plus the base 35 magic resist equals 62. Take away the 50 magic resist from spirit visage and at 3 champions in range mask only gives 12 more MR than spirit visage
@@emblemlol ok.
Thanks for elaborating, and i wish you well
i feel like its a solid option anytime enemy team has 2 or more ap threats and you and your team can utilize the passive tbh
Magic Resistance Reduction is also just worth less than Magic Penetration. My first video explains why.
I see you're an Abyssal enjoyer as well
Abyssal is good if you are doing hearsteel on a ap bruiser build with demonic and sunfire to amp up the damage while getting resistances when needed.
Jaksho and Thornmail also deal magic damage
@@justifiable evershroud abyssal mask amumu passive then they get nuked by a follow up magic ukt
Considering the taunt is Teemo passive sounds like tankmo wants abyssal
While the damage increase isn't that big it's still a damage increase for a magic resist tank item which Visage and FoN don't bring
New Abysal... I mean new videos when?
A few days hopefully, not abyssal mask tho. I hope I don't have to make another video on this item for a long time
I love how this channel only has 2 videos, almost a year apart, just talking about Abyssal Mask 😂
Great content though, it would be great if you'd apply this level of depth to other items!
that's the plan!
@@emblemlol Huh i never considered that, Thanks!
Welcome back fellow abyssal mask enjoyers
I absolutely love this buildpath as well
It's how I managed when I was ADC Mundo. trying to pay for the recipe cost is so gold inefficient, if when they bring back the Baumi Cinder burn on AA, I'll probably play ADC Mundo again.
Did I miss the part where you mention Abyssal Mask's teamplay effect? Magic damage carries would get better value if the tank builds it.
Since i play it on Kassadin, i am the Monster 😈
1000th subscriber :D
yay ty
Man i wanna play league but my laptop is overheating so much
I just wish rather then bonus mr, it had flat spell damage lowering and higher flat mr.
That would be kinda cool, but it would work best against mages with high cdr and damage over time, which is kinda force of nature's role.
TheShy built Abyssal Mask on K'Sante just now vs G2 at worlds with only Azir and maybe Kaisa as magic damage. Waiting for a new video
Abyssal mask is one of k'sante's best items because his damage scales so hard with resistances. Abyssal is the cheapest way to get tons of resistances, so it's good on him even if there isn't a ton of magic damage to amplify or a lot of magic damage on the enemy team.
Jax's like honestly basicallyhalf magic dmg nowadays anyway lol
Mayokai ?
You'll now have a DoT that can execute and essentially reduces enemy max hp by 5%.
all i know is i built it on shen in aram and it did 10k damage
In aram it's nuts, abyssal amplifies big magic damage combos super well. Almost everyone in Aram is building full damage, there's lots of splash damage, and it's easy to get lots of champions in range of the aura. Insanely good item for Aram.
Does the endgame stat page credit you for damage dealt said in Abyssal Mask?
yes it does.@@MangaGamified Interesting note, when abyssal mask amplifies damage from someone with void staff, abyssal technically does the same amount of damage as it would if they didnt have void staff, even though void staff effectively reduces the value of mask's aura by 40%.
Just saying in those games their teams have loads of magic damage so the me shred is good but he doesn't mention his teams ap
My first video might help explain why the MR shred isnt as valuable as it seems
I build that shit often on tanks because thornmail and sunfire both do magic damage but give armor and when u dont have an enchanter on ur team spirit is meh and f.o.n. is only good if u have lots of money. so abyssal is a good option now
MAYOKAI?, What did he sayyyyyyy???
i would nt say jax is an "ad bruiser" almost 30-40 percent of his damage is magic so abyssal has hight value on him. not to mention alot of pros building hourglass on him
Good video
What if your stun is an AOE?
Still a ridiculous game tho, that boots upgrade with a pushback is so OP, makes bot against a blitz even more a nightmare
Jax does alot of magic damage so him being in the thumbnail is incorrect
i miss crystal ornn:(
This man knows abyssal better than his dad
Honestly I usually go with spirit
It was better as abyssal scepter. When I played it on Kennen tanks melted.
Damn he was already right lmao
there's really a 7 minute segment about how pros make mistakes
good info
