They were married for 30 years, greeted each other as newlyweds everyday, and it ended with her death. She's been gone for 25 years now. I imagine that someday when he dies this is how they will meet again in heaven ...
Not ashamed to say I sob like a child when I hear this particular melody, because it always brings back feelings of loss experienced with the sudden departure of loved ones, whom I know I will see again someday after I finally pass through the veil.
Because you are a fan of the movie I'm sure you know John Barry wrote this music after the death of his mom and dad. I think they both died it around the same time so he was really heartbroken. He said the somewhere in time soundtrack is dedicated to them. That's why it's really emotional for all of us. We never know you can feel his sadness and the love he had for them.

Even at a time of tragedy and grief God can comfort us a minor miracle like that to precisely to give us hope and strengthen our faith that we’ll see our loved ones again.
If I hadn't known this film, I would have never known that depression or despair CAN kill someone. Thank God that this classic, romantic film entered my life and became one of my most favorite romance films of all time.

She wrote me a letter , promising to come back to me someday . That was 2012. I tried in 2017 to get in touch with her , I found she passed away, 2015. I wait for the day to join her in Heaven. We use to take trips to Big Sur. I now go by myself. I’m very lonely.

Why do I do this to myself? I tear up every time as a 39 year old dude. It’s so sad yet beautiful, the longing and the loss of a soulmate. To love so deeply and then to lose that person, he literally died of a broken heart😢 Side note, I was so happy to see Chris Reeve and Jane Seymour with Somewhere in Time director Jeannot Swarzc reunited on Smallville later on.
Have been watching since 1981. First copy was a betamax, then the DVD and my first bluray purchase ever was this. Hoping for a 4K release in the future.
The camerawork is magnificent in the last shot. Sadly it was edited down significantly. The original version had a much longer and slower zoom-in on the window as the camera moved past the curtains; however it was cut to include dissolves that brought the camera to the curtains sooner. I’d like to have seen the original shot. But this one is still very effective.
I'm feeling this lost right now. My wife despises and hates me. I tried to get her back but she doesn't love anymore. This is worse than death. I feel that my life is over. I don't have any reason to live anymore.

I attended a wedding and the couple danced to this during their first dance. Not a dry eye in the house.
