@@LittleCrowGunworks Not in SAAMI form, though. The chambers of the WSMs are the old style taper-only without a section of parallel freebore, dramatically limiting how far the bullet can protrude from the case. All the records are set with custom chambers. If you are going to get a custom chambered barrel, the WSMs gain a lot. You might need a longer magazine as well. If you want an off-the shelf rifle, use the PRC.
Both are fine cartridges, but you forgot to mention the 300 WSM uses a short action version the 7mm PRC needs a long action. Many people may not care but some will. Great video man!
Didn’t realize there was so much love for the 300 WSM! I got a Remington 700 with a custom barrel last year. Wanted a cartridge comparable to the 300 WM but in a SA. The muzzle break tames the recoil along with the weight of the rifle. It’s a pleasure to shoot!
A 1/4" bolt throw is negligible. The 7PRC is Chambered in a Std Long Action. If You had gotten a Std 3.4" long action in that 300WSM you could load the longest bullet you can think off like the 7PRC. Me, I'm geting a Full Magnum 3.8" action to build, either a 300 WM or a 7mm Rem Mag. Take advantage of full case cap. and seat out the longest bullets out there. BUT The 300WSM is a very fine cartridge. I'll just strech things a bit👍
@@2thmvrmpf it’s just awesome and practical. For its size and capacity it’s only very slightly less powerful than the 300 win mag. And it doesn’t have a belt on the case so it’s a little more reloaded friendly.

It is advised the buyer to provide the scope for during the tuning the upper is sited in and ready to hunt. Hey thanks for the review. I mentioned this comparison a few months ago. I ended up purchasing the Bergara b-14 squared crest with a Zeiss conquest v4 4-16-44 scope in 7PRC. I was a little worried because the rifle didn't like the Hornady 175 gran, nor did it like the Federal 170 grain but she sure like the Federal 175 gr. I could not be happier. Thanks for the review.
I have been collecting hunting rifles 60+ years and have owned more rifles then I would care to admit but needless to say hundreds and the 300wsm is in the top 3 all time list of the 3 best cartridges🙌
That’s why I’m here I’m looking to finally get my first rifle to do the rest of big game and for longer range shots now that I’m older. I’ve hunted with a Howa mini action in 6.5 grendel. I just happened to stumble across this video.
With the 300wsm being a ballistic twin with the old 300H&H shows to prove we've had a great 300mag for over 100 years. I would choose the H&H for the cool factor.
Great video! I think both of them are rock solid. Even with the slower than advertised Hornady 7mm PRC ammo the PRC still shoots good at LR/ELR distances. I shoot mine at a mile with the 180's and it does a damn good job getting on target.
@@wcasako1310 Just wait until Canada's commie Trudeau goes after the ammo next knowing without the ammo a gun is a tool that can't be used other than used for a club.
My 300 wsm is my favorite rifle. 168ttsx backed up with h4350 is a hammer. Don't think you need anything else living in the US for larger than deer sized game.
Last year I baught both a 300 wsm and a 7 PRC. I've wanted a 300 wsm for the longest time but also wanted to try out the new 7 PRC. Shooting them side by side the 7 PRC was more accurate so I ended up selling the 300 wsm. Really like both cartridges.
The biggest level of ignorance among green horns who want to own guns or own guns is they believe a cartridge along makes accuracy which is complete nonsense. So much goes into making accuracy from the quality and precision of machining a rifles action and barrel to the types of brass - bullets and powder and even primers. The rifle you sold could have been turned into a tack driver by a change in barrel to a well-known barrel makers barrel. maybe the bedding the action and barrel had issues? I build and sell custom AR uppers and use the Pac Nor SS super match barrels or Douglas barrels that every AR 10 upper completed is as accurate and the finest custom bolt guns. I just finished a new AR 15 upper in 7.92x33 Kurz with an hour ago for the first time shooting it and adjusting the gas block. Once sitting in I kept 7 125 grain 8 mm PPU FMJ bullets in a 3/4 group @ 100 yards by using a 3x9 scope. This was proving over and over I have seen my AR uppers with Pac Nor barrel can match the accuracy of bolt rifle, and in the near future watch for videos of this AR in 7.92x33 Kurz and the other AR uppers I sell in noncommercial chamberings. I have another example from the 6.5x50 Jap WW2 military cartridge that no one believes is much for accuracy well that is just wrong because I chamber the 6.5x50 Jap in my AR 10 uppers for sale with every one of them shoots not less than a 1 inch groups at 100 yard and that is because the Normal or PPU ammo is very good and shot from a Pac Nor barrel give exceptional accuracy. My advice don't blame the rifle until you find the problem why it shoots poorly because it could be the ammunition or the bedding of the barrel and action or scope bases.
@Lure-Benson, I sold the 300wsm because I wanted some extra $$ not because it wasn't a good gun. It shot 1moa. Yes, I could have tried more ammo and done a rundown of the rifle to get it to shoot more accurately but the 7prc was already shooting better so the 300 wsm got sold. The video is on my yt channel if you want to watch it.
🤔 Because I Am a Hunter, I Would Pick The 300 wsm! I Have The 300 wsm as #5 on My List of Favorite "Non-Wildcat" Cartridges and I Think That The 300 wsm Not Only Has a Good Case For Being Considered The Best Short Magnum Cartridge, But It Also Makes a Good Case For Being The Best Magnum Cartridge of "All Times" For Most Hunters! Thanks For The Comparison! 🥳
I 100% agree. I have been shooting and hunting with 300wsm for 15yrs and just finished a new custom Impact SA Magnum in 300wsm. I have it mounted in an Accuracy International short action ATX chassis with a Proof 24 inch carbon barrel. Having the entire short action chassis and actions to choose from. 7mm PRC requires long action My wsm shoots a Federal Terminal Ascent 200gr, 0.608bc, 2850fps and BondStrike 180gr, 0.610, 3050fps. It is a long range sledgehammer packed into a short action 300wsm is an excellent cartridge
@sunshynjunky 😎 Unlike The 7mm prc, The 300 wsm Performed Exactly As Advertised! 🤑 And, In Bullets of 200 grains or Less, It Matches The Performance of The 300 WM (While Using Less Powder)! 💥😯
The net killing performance of these two cartridges on moose and elk is so similar that really the choice mainly depends on what chamberings are available in the rifle brand/model you desire and whether you prefer a short action.
Both are great options, from a European standpoint, I think the old classics like the 7x57 and, especially, the 7x64 Brenneke are very good 7mm options. I'll be honest to say that the old 6.5x55 is my favourite, but we all have our favourites. At the end of the day, it is about the needs you have, and the availability and cost where you live.
If you PRC the 300 wsm with longer throats and seat bullets way out it does amazing. Mine loves the 210 vld and 208 long range hybrids. But have to single feed. For a 500 and in hunting rifle its hard to beat with the 165-190 bullets available in .30 cal, but it does have recoil
Exactly I have done this I have a early Sako 75 finnlite built on a magnum length action. And am able to seat bullets way out. Haven't been able to play much with the heavy high BC bullets in it as Im just using 180 grain ttsx for moose where I live in Canada and had been amazing I'm getting 3180 fps out of them. If I ever decide to go on a hunt out west this will be the gun I take and have really been thinking about making a load for the 190 ablr or a 212 eldx.
During the vortex/Barnes podcast they mentioned a 300 wsm in a long action that was shooting the 212 bore rider. I’d be curious how close a 300 wsm throated to a 30-06 length could get to a 300 prc. I bet the 225 eldm could be worked up to 2700fps.
I have been hunting moose and elk with 300WSM for many years now with 168TTSX and 175LRX bullets and absolutely love it. Hypothetically, If I had to replace my rifle with a different cartridge… the one that interests me most is the 7PRC with the 168LRX. I hope you include sectional density in your comparison. .308 175gr has SD= 0.264 .284 168gr has SD= 0.298 By my calculations I estimate that the 7PRC can yield around 10% more penetration potential with a bit less recoil. Both cartridges are excellent for this application… can’t go wrong with either IMO.
Only if using bullets that don’t blow apart . Sectional density goes out the window when using bullets like the eldx or Berger . Monometal with far less sectional density will out penetrate bullets that lose weight therefore losing sectional density . My 35 whelen loaded with a 200 grain barns ttsx doesn’t have great section density but always out penetrate the 225 accubonds or the 250 partitions I use . All three are great bullets but sectional density changes greatly on impact depending on bullet construction
@@Paul-q3m7k 100% Agree. I use copper monos. So comparing copper vs copper, velocity x SD is a reasonable predictor of penetration potential. Still not a precise prediction but useful nonetheless. I suppose so long as one compares bonded bullets of the same construction, SD can indicate relative penetration potential as well.
I've been doing a lot of research on these 2 cartridges for my next rifle. I like the 300 WSM better. I won't be shooting farther than 400 yds and like the ability to go with heavier seeds and a short action receiver.
The 7prc might be better but when you have that much power it probably doesn’t matter. Both of them will handle almost anything at almost any range. If you’re ringing steel at 1000 yards the 7prc might be a better choice. It makes me look closer at the 300wsm I didn’t realize it was that good of a cartridge. As one of my friends said. That’s enough gun that it doesn’t matter.
I must be a Red Herring cuz I own and shoot all three WSM's 270 , 7 mm and 300 WSM All GA Prec. built two are Rem 700 and one is Win M 70 Great performance ! Barnes, Trophy Bonded tip , Fusions , Accubonds They all get the job done in 24 " Great comparisons ... If I were to get a new rifle 7 mm PRC would be on my radar with 22 " barrel
7mm wsm vs 7mm prc. When I was 19 I bought my first two rifles. The brand new 7mm wsm browning Abolt and 300 wsm Winchester model 70 . I can honestly say I like the 7mm cartridge better then the 300
If I were going to buy a new magnum, I’d think really hard about the 300 wsm. I have a 270wsm already and it would make a nice addition. Also want a 257 wby too though….
I own both and I absolutely love both. You can’t go wrong with either. However, I do like the 7 PRC just slightly more. They’re both in my top 5 “do it all” cartridges of all time, at least for my uses. They will both handle any game in North America and all of Africa’s plains game, no problem. If you plan on any sheep hunting, I’d 100% go with the 7 PRC, due to the higher BC of hunting ammo. If not, I’d take the 300 WSM, due to the availability of good ammo. Thanks for this honest comparison video. I agree with your fair points about both of these outstanding cartridges. The only thing I wish you would’ve added to the comparison was wind drift. The 7 PRC takes that hands-down. Good video.
@@ReloadingWeatherby no, it’s not closer than what I think. I shoot them both beyond 1000 yards, regularly. I took them both out to 1279 yards today, in a 27 mph wind, which is basically the average day here in the Texas Panhandle. It’s minimum (19.3” lol) until wind is over 10 mph then it is definitely noticeable and it would easily be a better choice for a new long-distance shooter. I’m just pointing out that it is still another advantage that the 7 PRC has over the 300 WSM. Again, I own both and love them both. Btw, it’s 19.3” difference at 1000 yards with just a 10 mph wind. Do the math at 27 mph. The difference is very significant. I get it, you are a 7 PRC hater, based off of all of your other videos. Let’s be honest though, the 7 PRC is definitely superior in every way, especially for somebody new to long distance shooting.
I have both. Bought a 300WSM to make a blueprinted 6.5PRC, but after researching ballistics of it I was impressed and decided to do a better barrel and blueprint/customizations on it and keep 300WSM. 7PRC was always going to be right for me for LR target shooting. Harder to load for 7PRC but once you find powder/projectile/load it is a great cartridge. Both guns shoot better than 1/2moa at 1000m.
I have had two 300 WSM’s for years now. I have a 7mm REM Mag that I’ve had for years as well. I had to have a 28 Nosler. The 7 PRC was kind of a let down for me and hunting,
I love that my 300 WSM isn’t at all picky on what powder I use. I can hit top performance with a half dozen different powders. Seems like the 7PRC can only hit its advertised numbers accurately with just one and since RL26 is now unicorn dust…
I really like both equally but that’s because I opted for a 300WSM-long. I’m not a fan of short magnums and don’t have any issues hauling a long action rifle around. I have a couple tikkas in route. One is a 300wsm the other a 30-06.
I suspect that the load shown was for a custom 300 WSM chamber with added freebore. That is the main issue with the WSM series. They were designed to be short enough to fit in a 2.86" action, so there is no section of parallel freebore in the chamber. The WSM series gains a lot when used with a custom chamber and an intermediate or standard action. The PRC series has "match style" chambers with significant freebore to reduce bullet intrusion into the case.
@@ReloadingWeatherby The bullet seems set pretty far out of the case to fit in a SAAMI chamber.. With the 205 EOL, less than 0.02" of shank would be out of the case.
@@ReloadingWeatherby The main thing holding back WSM series is that short chamber and 2.86" OAL. In a longer action (and long enough magazine), the bullet can go a little farther out, especially with sleek bullets like this one. The 205 EOL is designed to have the ogive almost at the case mouth when loaded to SAAMI max length on this cartridge. I am more familiar with the 7mm WSM in custom builds. Many hunting loads are well over 3" long.
I just finished a Impact SA Magnum in 300wsm. It is a long range sledgehammer packed into a short action
I'm getting 2903fps from factory 200gr Federal TA in .300 WSM. Took a nice black bear this spring with it, but I doubt it would've known the difference between that and a 7PRC. 😉
Imo the gain you get is minuscule having to move up to a long action. I’d take the 300 wsm all day just to keep the short action. If I wanted a long action I’d just go to the 300 prc.
My daughter's 7mm Rem Mag is shooting the 180gr ELDM at 3000 fps using Retumbo powder, and loaded .5gr under maximum book load. And easily and handily outperforms the 7 PRC. I'm not really one of the PRC haters, just don't see the need for them, regardless of bore size. They'll never accomplish anything that hasn't already been done for decades already with any earlier cartridges like the 6.5-284, 7mm Rem Mag, or WSM or the 300 Win Mag and 300 WSM. Just another fad cartridge, in my and many others' opinions. But to each their own...
My Seekins Precision Havak PH2 in 7PRC with 26" barrel, Using 68.5gn (worked up in this gun only) of RL26 powder, Fed 215's and Hornady brass averages right at 3070 fps using 175gn ELD-X hand loaded with no pressure signs and groups great. Must have a fast barrel.
I am an old school Fudd, I will take brute force over trajectory, any day. 30 caliber and up. Preferably a 338. Own two lightweight rifles. 308 and 6.5 prc. Not recoil shy. Dont generally shoot over 100 yards. Want to splash as much energy on target as possible. In todays times, over analyzing takes place. I look at bullet diameter on how it affects game. Velocity is a major factor. So, gimme a fast 30 and over, im like a pig sitting in slop. Happy boy. 257 weatherby, does things it should not. Regardless of what the paper says. Yeah, I know, Im a old fart.😅
Since you don't generally shoot over 100yds. Which a lot of people don't. And you like larger calibers. What do you think of the 360 Buckhammer, 400 Legend, and the 450 Bushmaster?
My problem is trying to decide on a 7mm cartridge. Do you have a video comparing 7mm Rem Mag, 7PRC, .284 etc....? I know I want something in the 7mm size range I just don't know which one.
@@ReloadingWeatherbyI'll look for it. No, I don't reload yet, but I definitely want to get into it when I can afford some equipment. I'll have to start cheap. I don't suppose you have a video on what tools are absolutely necessary to begin reloading? I know a press, dies, scale of some sort and a manual. Any other necessities needed to start?
Sir, I am gonna have to not post this on my birthday. My soul has been crushed enough… sadly I know/hope the wsm wins that was my ideal choice until I got scammed into my 7prc. Still a solid rifle but bigger diameter same weight but higher velocity? Easy choice if I didn’t have so much reloading equip for the prc
@ h4831sc 64.8 gr with 180gr eldms. 2860 fps I have some 160 and 183gr bergers and some other bullets I haven’t loaded yet but hope to soon. Groups are stacking about 1 inch with a 10 shot group. I wanted more velocity so I am gonna get some new powders to test
Couple of real world data points from my experience My 7PRC with 22 inch barrel only gets 2870fps from Federal 175. With handloads, a 168 lrx goes 2860 at max charge of H1000. 300WSM, 24 in barrel, with several different Factory 165 grain loads gets 3150fps. I know I'm not the only one to report lower than expected velocities from both Factory ammo as well as lower than expected hand load velocities with the 7 PRC
Hunted with the 300 wsm for over a decade now, find it a very effective 30 caliber cartridge. Not convinced that the 7 prc has any advantages over my old 7x61 Sharpe & Hart .
Wow! Shocked you like the 7mm PRC over anything!!! I have more calibers than most, and I am not a bandwagoneerer. Saying that, actually the 7mm PRC is one of my favorite rounds.
I gotta tell you guys if you hand load 300wsm is an awsome round and with 1 in 10 twist you can shoot 220 eldx at 2750fps. The eld 208 match has a g1 of .690 and ive eeked out real close to 2900fps. Thats not an option with the 7prc. Great comparison!
I really think the 300WSM is the best choice if you shoot factory ammo for one simple reason. You have a lot more choice in the 300 WSM so a better chance of finding a load your rifle likes. It matches the 7 PRC to 400 and is really the limit most hunters should be shooting. The only reason I might choose the 7 PRC is for slightly less recoil, but at those levels it would be hard to tell the difference. 4-5 foot-lbs of energy is noticeable when your talking 7mm-08 VS 30-06. But between these two cartridges it wouldn't be as noticeable. They both kick too much for me in a hunting rifle to practice enough.
Awesome video. I have to put my 2 cents in for starters the 7 PRC has 75.4 gr water 7 WSM has 76.8 gr water 300 WSM has 76.4 gr water 7mm SAUM 69.8 gr water 300 SAUM 69.4gr water . Let's get started at 7 Saum 185gr 2880fps 24-inch barrel 7 WSM 185gr 2950fps 24-inch barrel 300 WSM 185gr 3150fps 24-inch barrel 300 SAUM 185gr 3050fps 24-inch barrel [7mm PRC] [185gr 2880fps 24-inch] barrel . Now, all of these loads are extremely safe for any rifle . They can be loaded hotter from 80-150fps faster, and if you're using Alpha, Peterson , ADG, Bertram, starline or Lapua Brass well let's just say they can handle extreme pressures you could bump those speeds up alot safely. That's how I get extreme speeds without pressure. Just watch ultimate reloader you will see. If you Really want a awesome 7mm, look up Vestal custom rifles or Allen precision rifles , Quarter minute Magnums or Randy's custom rifles. Try the 7mm LPRC . It's a 300 PRC necked down to 284 now that's impressive or 7mm Norma mag , 7mm Slayer , 28 Nosler , 7mm Lapua , 7mm RUM or 7mm Allen Express or 7mm Allen magnum just to name a few . The standard 7mm Remington Magnum and 7mm Blaser does everything the 7mm PRC can do. In my opinion, 7 rem mag and 7 blaser does better. I say they all are good no Matter what you pick it's like dating (beauty is in the eye's of the beholder). Same scenario with guns . Do your research don't get caught up in all the hype and the courprit BS that gets pushed by people like Hornady with their guns and false ammo spec. God bless you and your family God-bless America 🇺🇸
The biggest and for hunting maybe only advantage of the 7PRC, is wind drift. I’d say if the man wants to use it for hunting large animals out to 300m then get the WSM.perfect for plaid game and elk and will do better out of a shorter barrel. I’d the man wants to past 300m then the 7 is much better.
I’d say if you really can get the 30cal bullet to hit only 10.4inches further from the target than the of the 7mm does at 1000yrds then that’s still more of a factor than anything else. But I’m not an expert. I don’t shoot past 300m on game and don’t target shoot. Thanks for the video anyway.
I think short action magnums are great for hunting rifles. Because Hornady cheated (the 6.5PRC is really best in a medium action) the WSM/Western family owns that space.
Not Fair comparison. The 7Prc is a .532" case designed fo a Long STd rifle action. The 7WSM/300WSM is a .555" rebated rim cartridge designed for Short actions. They have about the same case Cap. But you can't seat out long bullets in the WSM. If you have a Std Long Action in a WSM. Then they are equal. Still Ok the comparison👍
From an owner of both, without R26 the 7PRC doesn't compare.I can shoot a 215hybrid faster than a 195EOL with less powder and the same with 180 etc.Theres no difference in accuracy out to distance as well.2900fps with a 195 without RL26 and is a pipedream. Thanks for the comparison
comparing 7mm PRC 175 eldx and 300 wsm. 178 eldx when 175g speed is 3000f/s and 178g 3100f/s or better. I wounder what your tables will look like????. to me looks like more fair. I am reloading for 7mm RM with 26" barrel 1:8 twist. 7PRC 25" barrel 1:8 twist 300wsm 25" barrel 1:10 twist and 300wm 26" barrel with 1:10 twist. On a moose hunt I take 300wsm or 300wm. for assurance and cover more distance. I like the 7PRC but I like better 180g to 200g bullets for big game hunts.
Start by telling me why the 300 wsm is better...😊 end with why the new cartridge always suck!😮 The cost of upgrading stops me, every time...too close to retirement to spend crazy.😊
Ok, I have 7mm rem mag and 300wsm . Shoot 175 eldx in 7 mag at 3100fps 1/4"moa . 300wsm I shoot 168 eld at 3220. Also 1/4 moa . Other than wind drift to 1000 yrds they are pretty much the same ballistically.
never could understand why guys get caught up in comparing bullets in different calibers in different weights. I would think that bullets flying through the air don't know the difference as long as they are the exact same weight in grains. It would be more accurate to test different calibers as long as the grain weight is exact in both guns, then you would have a more accurate comparison of the two different calibers.
Now that lapua makes brass for the 300 WSM that’s my vote
.300 WSM with Berger 210g has set numerous 1,000 yard world records.
300 WSM is an awesome cartridge
We were just discussing this privately. The 300 WSM is a spectacular 1000yd competition cartridge.
@@LittleCrowGunworks Not in SAAMI form, though. The chambers of the WSMs are the old style taper-only without a section of parallel freebore, dramatically limiting how far the bullet can protrude from the case.

Now this is a comparison I’ve been waiting for somebody to do, I’ll just go ahead and say it I would assume that the 300 WSM will be the winner 👍🏻
Agreed. Both are excellent in my experience.
But, But, Should compare 7MM to 7MM, there is a 7MM WSM 👍
I have been collecting hunting rifles 60+ years and have owned more rifles then I would care to admit but needless to say hundreds and the 300wsm is in the top 3 all time list of the 3 best cartridges🙌
Thanks for commenting
If I were to get a new rifle, these two cartridges would be at the top of my list. Both very good options
Best mag made in 30
Great video! I think both of them are rock solid. Even with the slower than advertised Hornady 7mm PRC ammo the PRC still shoots good at LR/ELR distances. I shoot mine at a mile with the 180's and it does a damn good job getting on target.
This is the exact move I made when the 300 wsm factory ammo was nearly nonexistent. Now I’m seeing more options than I’ve ever seen. Still no regrets.
Thanks for commenting
It sure was non-existent for a while. Have seen much improved availability / selection in Canada over the last year.
I’m running the 165ttsx also running 4350. Was pretty easy to work up a load.
In 2017 i bought a 270wsm i should have got the 300wsm. Bout time u showed the 7mmprc some love lol

I've seen the short mag shoot a 1.5 inch group at 1000 yards by Sam Hall at Hawks Ridhge gun club in a sanctioned IBS match. 5 shots.
I believe the 300 WSM holds the record for tightest group at 1000 yards
Ohhhhh great comparison . Time to make a coffee and dig in

Thanks for watching Tom
@desiebare6437 what's your barrel length? And what kind of powder are you running for the 180 ttsx
@@desiebare6437 3180 is smoking. Ive only ever been able to drive 180 bergers to 3060’s in my 24” reloder 23 or 26.
The new 7mm Backcountry looks good.
Thanks for watching
Which is better for suppressor? No one talks about the wsm being better in short barrel
I like the comparison. I had a 300 WSM and it was a tack driver. Would not hesitate to get another. And throated for 210’s would be money.
I have been hunting moose and elk with 300WSM for many years now with 168TTSX and 175LRX bullets and absolutely love it.
Hypothetically, If I had to replace my rifle with a different cartridge… the one that interests me most is the 7PRC with the 168LRX.
I hope you include sectional density in your comparison.
.308 175gr has SD= 0.264
.284 168gr has SD= 0.298
By my calculations I estimate that the 7PRC can yield around 10% more penetration potential with a bit less recoil.

I must be a Red Herring cuz I own and shoot all three WSM's 270 , 7 mm and 300 WSM All GA Prec. built

Good video.
Wind drift is closer than you think. At 1000 yards they are within 1 MOA of each other... or in MIL 1.7 vs 1.3
As an owner of three of these rifles each. You really can’t pick wrong but I tend to lean to the 300wsm
Thanks for your insight

I love that my 300 WSM isn’t at all picky on what powder I use. I can hit top performance with a half dozen different powders. Seems like the 7PRC can only hit its advertised numbers accurately with just one and since RL26 is now unicorn dust…
Yeah... you can only get top velocity with 7mm PRC with a couple of powders

Not at all. I got my load data from Nosler.

My 7PRC is running on WBY Select Plus 150gr. ammo at 3000 fps. I don’t know what type of powder they are using?
Not RL-26
200 Grain Federal Ascent 300 win mag 2871 in a Blaser R8 25.75 inches. 300 WSM 200 Federal Ascent 2897 in a 24 inch barrel.
Thanks for sharing

SADLY Rl 26 is unavailable.vitavhouri n570 with 190gr is the ticket.. very compressed. Zero pressure signs great velocity.
"Much better" At 1000 yards the 300 WSM has 4.7 MOA of drift vs 3.8 With 7mm PRC. In MIL that is 1.7 vs 1.3. Advantage yes... much better? No
I’d say if you really can get the 30cal bullet to hit only 10.4inches further from the target than the of the 7mm does at 1000yrds then that’s still more of a factor than anything else.
Still Ok the comparison👍
ill still take 300wsm.
How long is your 7 PRC barrel?
@ReloadingWeatherby 24 inch,Browning Mnt Pro
I wouldn’t compare ballistics on two calibers unless I used the same weight bullet in the comparison.
I usually try to compare with similar b.c. or sectional density
Any idea what powder federal is using to get 3000 ft./s?
RL-26
@ thanks. I can never get any accuracy out of RL 26.
Or if you like guns as much as we do, get one of each.
Yep
Use the 210 ABLR in the 300 WSM
I probably will
comparing 7mm PRC 175 eldx and 300 wsm.

Think I've said this in one of your other videos but, 300wsm is what .308 should've been and 6.5prc is what 6.5creedmoor should've been
How does wind drift compare?
Drift is definitely better with the 7 PRC. I own both and I shoot long distance regularly. But you can’t go wrong with either one.
7mm PRC has the advantage. But it's close than you think.
Start by telling me why the 300 wsm is better...😊 end with why the new cartridge always suck!😮
The cost of upgrading stops me, every time...too close to retirement to spend crazy.😊
Sweet!
why not 300 prc,300 wsm?
300 prc vs 300 wsm next?
Maybe
never could understand why guys get caught up in comparing bullets in different calibers in different weights. I would think that bullets flying through the air don't know the difference as long as they are the exact same weight in grains. It would be more accurate to test different calibers as long as the grain weight is exact in both guns, then you would have a more accurate comparison of the two different calibers.
When you compare different calibers... it's standard to compare the bullets with the same sectional density or b.c. number.
