Great video, great sound. To me it’s always all good. Watching you drive through the countryside just gives me the itch to get there again. I apologize if I get the spelling wrong but I see Zack always has to be right there. You better check, his blood type may be 30 weight. Thanks for mention, I better get off my butt and start getting some things done.
Gday Steve, the audio is good and I didn’t find anything wrong with the last episode to be honest, the truck went well and definitely quieter then the GM, great episode mate, cheers
Yet another great video, Steve. I very much enjoy the 'in cab' footage especially as I'm an ex-wagon driver (I had to give up due to health issues). It's great to see the scenery and the similarities in road layout in Australia compared to the UK (driving on the "correct" side of the road for one😀).. I've said this on other channels that I watch, but.. Please, please, please don't take the hate comments to heart.. A lot of them are just "keyboard warriors" who wouldn't have a clue when it comes to fixing anything mechanic like you do. I bet you have forgotten more knowledge than what they know, the closest they have been to a truck is when they pass one on the highway. Keep the videos coming, I always enjoy them and look forward to the next one...
I’m glad you liked it mate and sorry you can’t drive anymore. That would be awful. Don’t worry about me with haters. I’m just pointing out the struggles we face when trying to grow a channel and share content. It hasn’t stopped me yet. Plenty more to come for you🙏
@stevesplacedownunder Thank for the reply Steve, much appreciated.. I do worry when youtubers start talking about the haters as I've seen quite a few great channels disappear over time because they have got fed up with them. I have another channel that I watch of an American farmer. He used to post several times a week, but because of the hate comments he has lost his motivation to film anything anymore. It's lucky if he puts one video a month up now, such a shame as he put some great content out. It annoys me a lot.. Look forward to more great videos. Chris
Thanks for another great video Steve. Audio and video quality really clear and stable. As for the ride, she would be like a limo compared with the old detroit white. Love the turbo whistle from the old big cam. My father drove an old k100 prime mover with a 290 big cam and 13sp that used to pull hard and rarely dropped into the bottom box except for Bulahdelah on the syd-bris-syd run. Thanks for the ride mate a1
Sounds spot on now, mate. That 8 wheeler runs like a watch. There's a little noise in the cab, 0:04 but a lot better than your other truck ride alongs. Back when the Big cam Cummins first came out they always took an extra few seconds for the revs to die down.
Good job the steve truck is doing good love that gear knob had a red one the same was going to fit on the old tractor but it around hiding somewhere have good week mate .glad you and wife gone for run again to
Absolutely brilliant video Steve nice to go for a ride out in the kenworth the old cummins sound well mate hope the family are all good video and sound all good
Even watching you operate that awesome truck is cool to me don't worry about the haters stirring the pot all comments and views good or bad help the algorithm that pushes it to other people's feeds...i like you're content 👌
The authorities are pretty quick to talk about the roadworthiness of a vehicle but they often seem to forget that a lot of roads aren’t vehicle worthy 😂
The Kenworth sounds great. Loving the resolution and the steadiness of the new camera too. I sort of recognise places out your way as I was posted to HMAS Nirimba at Quakers Hill in the early 90's. How do you feel about the big smoke encroaching on your country lifestyle?
Thank you again mate this is great. A lot has changed here since the 90s. I barely recognise any of it anymore. I can’t really control it mate. It is what it is but I guess it will make the place be worth a lot more and I can move to another property. It’s just the rates and taxes go up with the price increase so it really pushes us out in the end
Hey up Steve lovely drive to work today, pretty cool you're getting international airport just a ten minutes cab trip away but it does look like the suburbs are moving in. The machinery sounds are great but you seemed a bit quiet in the truck, great video mate thanks
Yeah I’m happy about the airport John. I like aircraft and looking forward to watching them. I was quiet in the truck because I was just talking to my wife and not the audience. I had the microphone placed so the wind wouldn’t get it and could hear the truck
The new gear give us a top view up front Steve. Top Quality mate. Looking nice and green over your way. Dry, dust and flies over here in the wheat belt.😂 Love it all and thank you cobber.🤠
Another great video Steve. Sounded and looked all good to me. I hope you’re like me and like the upright seating position. There ain’t a thing you can do with it that cab is there mate? Always good to ride along with you 😊
Thanks Mick. There’s plenty of room in these cabs for me. I don’t like sitting all the way back like some blokes and reaching for everything. I like to be upright and amongst it all mate
Howdy 🤠 from the Northwoods of Minnesota all. If RPM is hanging could be filter or a restricted fuel line. Unless linkage dry or binding. Sweet truck. I still have difficulty seeing you on wrong side of road LoL 😆
Yes mate a few have mentioned this and certainly will be checking. It’s only after sitting it does it. Pump shaft was seized in the PT pump when I first dragged it into the shed to get going maybe something still to do with that. Thanks as always mate
@ Air leak in fuel maybe 🤔. Some of those issues can be toughest to track down. Some fuel filters use a rubber gasket on threaded part of filter and if missing gives issues
@jackpinesavagerepair1918 yeah I will go through it and sort it out. It’s also got like a fuel knock one one cylinder which I can’t yet find. Have set the injectors twice now but they are always okay
* Steve ! 12:30 am here in Michigan and up pops a new vid of yours ! You know I love the twin steer but now that I see you in it you look a little cramped 👊🤣👍. New equipment looks perfect. Does this mean you turned 40 ? You said the wife would get you a new cam on your 40th birthday. Man you blokes got great roads. Ours are all potholes. Anyway, everything looks much better. I'll tip my last brew of the night to ya. Cheers Mate 👊😎👍 p.s. Does that feel different to drive than a single steer truck ?
Hi mate. It’s not at all cramped. There’s a lot of room in these cabs for me. It goes well and handles a lot different to a single steer truck. Rides a lot better too. Was 40 21st of last month, December
I for one can’t fault the new camera - the resulting video looked great - excellent work by your camera crew 😊Thanks for taking us along. I hope you don’t get adversely affected by the new Western Sydney International. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers and all the best.
Thank you mate. Yes I was happy with it. It hasn’t changed my views in any way though🤣. The airport may affect us but will only make my place worth more if anything so hopefully that’s a positive way of looking at it
That was an enjoyable video, nice drive with a good view of the country side and the Kenworth sounds good, Thanks Steve, and as for the bloke who winged about the sound of the other video or what ever his problem was, --- go blow it out your ear, sorry every one else. But Steve you put out good video's regardless of sound or lack there of. Thanks again Steve, and all those who help out.
Sounds fantastic to me and my favourite truck of your fleet by far, I’d love a go in it. Glad that spiders gone too. That turbo spooling up sounds amazing. Shocked how quiet the cab sounded, thought it’d sound like a jar of screws. Doesn’t look like you’ve got too much movement backwards in that seat either, bet you’d feel that in your back at the end of a shift. Great work Steve
Hi Steve just finished watching your video picking up those tracks was great. Also the voice over was good I could hear everything you were saying. Love ❤ watching your videos hopefully you’re keep making many. Thank you for all your hard work in what you’re doing. Cheers Steve. Regards Tina & Ian in the U.K
Hi mate I’m glad you liked it. The talk on the way back was only really to my wife, that’s why I didn’t speak into the microphone. I had it placed to hear me and not the truck. But I’m glad you liked it. Thanks to both of you for watching
Good road trip Steve, the Kenworth is certainly quiet haha. It’s obviously a thing taught early in life in Australia to work with one hand and hold a beer in the other 😂❤
I always enjoy your videos I've said it before and I'll say it again it's cool seeing how you do things over in Australia always liked that country hope to visit it someday but anyways keep up the great work channel is awesome this world has gotten so negative and others know more I don't know why they watch also don't lean on that door I've heard that a time or two growing up lol 👍
Hi mate I really appreciate the nice words. There’s plenty more to come. Yes it’s a hard game, so much negativity but more positive comments which is great
Hey Steve, I'm sure you heard about the volume on the last video. I enjoyed it anyway. Did I hear you say people were cutting grass with scissors. I had a neighbor who did that and thought he was crazy. Come to find out he had MS. This was thirty years ago and he just wanted to keep moving. He ended up totally debilitated not even able to use the bathroom. I did work on his house watching his wife take care of him till he passed. I felt horrible when I found the reason he was using scissors to cut the grass. Your new equipment works great. Jim
Yes Jim that’s right. Not sure if it’s a religious thing but they certainly used to do so. What an awful way to be, I can’t imagine living like your neighbour did
Steve check the fuel return line in the tank it may have a drop tube in it which holds fuel pressure up and can cause the revs to hold up also check the return line for flaps
Thank you mate. When I first got it going the throttle shaft in the pump was seized so I was thinking it may have been something to do with that also. I certainly will check it though
Sound and picture were great in this one Steve, top notch if you ask me. The 8x4 was running beautifully and the turbo whistle brought back some happy memories of riding in trucks with similar engines. Re the engine speed changing slowly - I was told many years ago by an old diesel mechanic that Cummins set the governor like that to reduce inertia stress on rods and pistons. He said that if the engine was allowed to rev up and down faster there was more risk of breakages if the churning rods and pistons of that time accelerated and decelerated too fast. Not sure if that is historically correct but it sounded plausible then, anyway. May even be true! re the lawn cutting with scissors crew - have you asked them about getting the scissors sharpening concession? could be a big moneymaker! 8^) Cheers and thanks again for a great video.
Thanks Jeff I’m glad you liked it. I’d say it’s an air in the fuel problem or a pressure problem. After 30 seconds it comes good after sitting. Then drives great. Yes they used to do the grass with scissors. I’d say it was a religious thing
In my little experience with old Cummins, when the revs won't come down is either too much fuel pressure or the pump is worn out (main shaft) . Had the issue last month on a ol 290
Hi mate yes I have heard this and will certainly be checking it. What makes me think differently is when I first dragged it out to get it registered, the throttle shaft was seized in the PT pump. But maybe it’s a pressure issue too. Thanks for your input mate
The Kenworth seems to go pretty well ! I got the impression the suspension isn't too bad either considering it not loaded. But the cab could be a bit longer so the seatback can go back a bit further Steve 😅 Cheers mate, Ard
It rides really good. There is plenty of room in these cabs for me. I like to sit where I’m in control of it all. Some blokes like it right back and then have to reach for everything. Thanks Ard
All sounds good to me 😁. As for people complaining about the sound on the previous videos, let them complain when they make the effort to create and populate an interesting channel. World is full of keyboard warriors 🤨
Always love a good cab ride mate , Especially around NSW . The Cummins is quieter for sure. What rpm range does that engine work at Steve . All the trucks I rode in with my dad back in old days were all 220 and 250 non-turbo Cummins . As i recall they had lines in the tacho telling you to keep the revs between 1750 and 2100 . not a big range . Great video mate , always good to see what's going on your way . 🌵
It’s a bigger range than that mate. Most change them around 1500 I believe. I’m glad you liked the drive around. Wasn’t a really interesting drive, in my eyes anyway as I’m more than used to it.
The guy Im doing some work for now has an old K Wobble 8 legger with a souped up 475 CAT but somewhere around is a EC14 ERF with a 500 big cam and 15 speed box, it pulls like a train 8 wheeler also, I theoretically know the area youve been cruising but it sure looks different since I left OZ
As much as I like to hear a Detroit in full song, there is something kind of comforting listening to a Cummings...especially a big Cam species . She certainly seems to get along well considering her age Steve, The audio sounded good...was that an Argosy parked on the left at 11.50 ??
I had forgotten the old empty truck leaf spring bounce. I remember the steering wheel and the gear shift dancing a little more. Thanks for the memories. As you past through all the trucks parked up you passed on the left a really low cab truck. I was originally picking a KW or Mack ex rubbish truck, but it looked to modern. Just curious as it looked a little funky, can anyone tell me what it was?
@@stevesplacedownunder Yer/nna after a few replays I was picking Hino or maybe Merc It was a transporter of some sort. It just pecked my WTF was that itch. 😃
Another great video Steve! Don’t worry about some dickhead giving it to you over a microphone. I’m sure we’ve all had a bit of dodgy equipment from time to time. The thing to think about is content, like what are you talking about in each video, and that is great, something different for everybody. I would say most people are completely satisfied with what you’re doing and happy to watch the stuff and not feel a need to complain. So, forget the Keyboard Warriors and keep doing your thing, because you have a certain flair for Old Aussie 🇦🇺 Iron.
Thank you mate. I’m not worried, I just like pointing out the struggles there are to keep it all going. It’s not an easy think to do. But still enjoying it
Is there a stone at the base of the go pedal stopping it from coming all the way back or a dirty pedal hinge? That’s got me a few times especially after rain and you’ve walked mud onto the floor. The old allis s getting a birthday with a pair of pavement tracks, you’ll be able to drive her anywhere.
Great old wagon, Steve - we had the E290 "Big Cam" in Britain for a while. I left Sydney only 8 years or so ago and the western end of Elizabeth Drive is unrecognisable to me. I used to visit the servo at Kemps Creek a fair bit years ago, daresay that will all go too in the not too distant. Progress?
Yes mate that’s where I fuelled the truck up at those service stations there. I honestly hope it does all go because it’s such an eyesore around those service stations and shops and to me an embarrassment for visitors to our beautiful country flying in from overseas then having to look at it. Hopefully something happens there indeed
Is this Kenworth that you're driving today at 6 cylinder diesel ? I really enjoy your driving video there today, mate. Today, later on, I will be planning to do a couple of videos. The second video I will some point be doing will be of Euro Truck Simulator 2 me driving a Scania 6 cylinder diesel. Regards from William. Mount Gambier, South Australia.
Old rigid T-Bag I used to do the central coast run with used to hold revs like that... mechanic at depot couldnt care less no matter hwo often I complained.. the truck had fallen over at sometime in its life, so i just gave up caring Your twin steer sounds sweet though! What year is it?
Hi mate. My mate bought a twin steer leader for 3-4 grand I think off his brother. Just cab chassis with a v8 cat. Had engine problems too at the time but was a few years ago now. They aren’t worth much I don’t think. Exactly how much I’m not sure

Hi mate I really appreciate the nice words. There’s plenty more to come. Yes it’s a hard game, so much negativity but more positive comments which is great
Great stuff mate watched on big screen, love the big cam 400 I got one in mine
Hi mate I’m glad you liked it. They are a good thing. Certainly different to the 871s I’ve got in the others
Another cool vid, sound is great. 👍
Thank you Jimmy
What an awful way to be, I can’t imagine living like your neighbour did
Yall have an awesome day brother family and friends see yall in the next adventure brother
We most certainly did mate
@stevesplacedownunder great video great co-pilot great family great friends awesome trucks !!! A complete package brother
I certainly will check it though
always gotta be at least 1-2 dkeds;;Keep on Truckinggood👍☠️☠️👍
There certainly are yes
Happy belated.birthday Mr D . you fill that cab out nicely , if you know what I mean.
Hello Larry. It’s been a while since we had a cool one for my birthday 🤣🤣. Yes mate I fill her up. Still plenty of room in it though
Hi Steve I would like to say you do a build series on that WHITE Cabover next to the container
It’s not mine that one mate. It’s too far gone anyway for the time I have
Love your content bud awesome vids
Wish I still lived in the Blue Mountains, would of loved to do stuff with you on the farm
That would of been good mate
@@stevesplacedownunder To each his own I guess, re the scissors brigade! 😃
That twin steer sounds like it rides slot smoother then a normal cab over
It rides beautifully
👍👍👊
In my little experience with old Cummins, when the revs won't come down is either too much fuel pressure or the pump is worn out (main shaft) . Had the issue last month on a ol 290
Hi mate yes I have heard this and will certainly be checking it. What makes me think differently is when I first dragged it out to get it registered, the throttle shaft was seized in the PT pump. But maybe it’s a pressure issue too. Thanks for your input mate
The Kenworth seems to go pretty well ! I got the impression the suspension isn't too bad either considering it not loaded.
But the cab could be a bit longer so the seatback can go back a bit further Steve 😅
Cheers mate, Ard
It rides really good. There is plenty of room in these cabs for me. I like to sit where I’m in control of it all. Some blokes like it right back and then have to reach for everything. Thanks Ard
All sounds good to me 😁. As for people complaining about the sound on the previous videos, let them complain when they make the effort to create and populate an interesting channel. World is full of keyboard warriors 🤨
Thank you Steve. I don’t think they understand what it takes to put one together and they only tell you what you do wrong
Looks like a smooth easy ride...very quiet for a truck...looks like the transmission is right by the way it shifted.
It drives really nicely mate
My old VT350 used to hang as well . All it turned out to be was the Idle leakage screw .
It only does it after sitting for about 30 seconds
Say hi to the Mrs for me she is a great camera lady
I will indeed mate
The guy Im doing some work for now has an old K Wobble 8 legger with a souped up 475 CAT but somewhere around is a EC14 ERF with a 500 big cam and 15 speed box, it pulls like a train 8 wheeler also, I theoretically know the area youve been cruising but it sure looks different since I left OZ
Sound like nice trucks Bryce. Yes the area I was in has changed a lot due to that airport. And a lot more to go still mate
Your old 8 wheeler is Far Kenworth It. Mind the play on words hehe
She’s a beauty mate
As much as I like to hear a Detroit in full song, there is something kind of comforting listening to a Cummings...especially a big Cam species . She certainly seems to get along well considering her age Steve, The audio sounded good...was that an Argosy parked on the left at 11.50 ??
Thank you Denis. Yes it’s a nice sound indeed. Yes it most probably was an argosy. They are everywhere around here
Much quieter truck and your audio is fine. Some people just look for something to complain about.😊
Yes they like to complain indeed. And it’s free entertainment too
I had forgotten the old empty truck leaf spring bounce.
I can’t remember unless I watched it back. Mainly Japanese trucks on the road there
@@stevesplacedownunder Yer/nna after a few replays I was picking Hino or maybe Merc It was a transporter of some sort.
No. It only does it for about 30 seconds after sitting then is ok. Possibly air in fuel or a pressure problem
@ does it have a air operated speed limiter?
Steve she sounds like a ripper
Thank you mate
Pitty you got no jakes but still fantastic video steve and your supervisor camera woman 😅😅 and f the people putting sh comments
It’s got Jake’s but need repairing mate. One day
Is the return spring not tight enough to bring the revs back down to idle???
Yes plenty tight enough. It only lasts for 30 seconds then it’s good
@ maybe melt some wax candle or coloured crayon so you can see it in there???
Steve that cab looks a bit small like the butterbox acco
No mate there’s actually plenty of room in it. I just like to sit so I’ve got control of everything
Yes mate a Cummins 6 cylinder Diesel engine
@@stevesplacedownunder very 😊 exciting
Old rigid T-Bag I used to do the central coast run with used to hold revs like that... mechanic at depot couldnt care less no matter hwo often I complained.. the truck had fallen over at sometime in its life, so i just gave up caring
Your twin steer sounds sweet though! What year is it?
Hi mate thanks for sharing. It’s a 76 model. Originally a 903. There’s a 4 parts series of videos of me doing it up
Hi Steve how much would a leader 8 wheeler be worth has motor problems
Hi mate. My mate bought a twin steer leader for 3-4 grand I think off his brother. Just cab chassis with a v8 cat. Had engine problems too at the time but was a few years ago now. They aren’t worth much I don’t think. Exactly how much I’m not sure
Good old indian/turks parking there trucks everywhere
They old Cat 308/13 tracks Steve???
They were off a case 13 ton excavator mate
Already quieter than the "White"
🍺 Cheers and 🍻 Beers from Ole Mechanic Steve in Chicago in the U.S.A. I believe we are Brothers from other Mothers ❤
Thanks as always Steve. Plenty of beers here this weekend
