Hi mate this is absolutely amazing! I don’t know how to thank you.🙏 🙏🙏🙏. It certainly means a lot and goes a long way to help me. I’m really glad you liked it and there plenty more to come.
Huh is this a thing, being able to chuck a couple bucks Steve’s way, I’m not a rich man but fk I’m sure I can fund a few cans of degreaser or something 🤷♀️, I’ll look in to how to do it , thanks Bryce! Always a good seeing them overalls Steve haha 👌
Gday Steve. Mate. What a wild bit of gear! Must’ve been pretty hairy with a load of elephants in that old dunger back in the day. You can imagine old mate driving when the roof copped a big thump 😂😂😂. Pretty interested in this one 😊
Gday Mick. Yes they did it hard in those days. Australia wide too I believe they drove it. This is one of many that existed. The rest got scrapped unfortunately. I’d love to find a photo of it in the days where it was working.
You'll soon get that sorted. Looks like the Elephants rolled over on the truck. When it runs, it would be a good 'un to drive around the property in company with that little Austin Tipper. So grim you just have to keep them running.
In our area all the double truck frame rails wind up looking like that do to road salt in the winter. Many a nice trucks get scrapped for that reason. When the video first started I was trying to remember that truck, I had forgotten about the one right up behind the house. From what we can see I’m actually surprised at how good the inside actually looks, I’d say there is hope. I’m a believer in anything can be fixed but a question of if it’s worth it. I’d say if you can get it to turn it will go.
Yes mate I believe a lot rust there due to salt. If I can unstick it, it will have a chance. It’s worth it to me if it costs nothing because I thrive on getting them going. Time will tell
Great video as usual and looking forward to part 2 :). But you have to look after your back and avoid heavy lifting where you can - take it from an old truck mechanic with a knackered back :(
Hey up steve once upon a time in the late 80s was in the xy driving into Canberra town centre on that main road with my red dog as we were pulling up for a red light in the middle lane on our left we caught a low loader with three elephants on board (all just standing a chain on ankle) hot day windows down red dog had smelt them, managed to grab her as she was disappearing through the window in full persuit with the blood curdling hunt sounds, elephants trumpeting lowloader rocking like it was going to roll. Ended up ok as lights changed and got out of there still holding red dog's back leg, luckily xy was auto, found out later my second hand red from the pound had a former life as a piggin finder she must have thought she was onto three of the biggest. Thanks for the video mate brough back a memory
That’s very interesting John thanks for sharing. Yes that’s how they carted them, just standing like that. It could have gotten a lot worse of the dog got out. Geez mate.
Even with the Tech issues, still a great Vid Steve. This Truck would grab my attention no matter how long or where it was, parked, stunning thing! Looking forward to Part 2.
Thank you John. I’m upset it didn’t record because I was talking about it and working on it. Anyway, it will only make me better. Certainly is a stunning thing mate
That looked like some “project”. I’m really looking forward to part two. I absolutely love watching you tackle these engines - you have an amazing talent, combined with knowledge, patience and an altruistic desire to bring us all along on your journey. You’re truly inspirational. I sincerely wish I had the means to to financially contribute to your great content but my health took a serious nosedive a couple of years ago and I can no longer work, relying on being hooked up to a variety of machines at home to keep me going. Thanks Steve; take care ! (and look after your back !)
Thank you mate that’s a really nice compliment and comment from you. I try to provide good entertainment and share what knowledge I have. Some certainly appreciate it. It doesn’t matter about finances mate, as long as you enjoy it and the main thing is that you look after yourself as much as you can. It’s my pleasure mate and plenty more to come
Wonder what the sump holds with the top end looking like that ? If you get it to turn , it will probably run . It'll be good to watch . Thanks Steve . 🌵
Steve, if you get a chance could you send me a few pics of the henrickson walking beam. That truck hauled some serious weight, especially when it is moving around. Would love to see the elephants on the truck. I'm sure she could tell many stories. You always have my support. Your friend in Connecticut
Thank you Jim. Remind me on the weekend mate. It did haul some big weight. I’m not sure if there are any photos of it around but will certainly share when I find one
Thanks again Anthony. Your support is unbelievable mate. Yes it will go, I don’t give up unless there’s a high cost involved that Isn’t worth it. If it’s just labour and a few bits and pieces, it will go

I speak to Bruce on the phone sometimes. His channel is leaps and bounds in front of mine but I still enjoy it. I’m really happy that you’re entertained and enjoying what we do. Thanks again mate🙏🙏🙏
Looking forward to you working your magic in part two Steve. You might have to whisper a bit louder for this boat anchor though. This actually looks like a great 'fixer upper' for someone. Except for the doors and the bonnet it looks like its all there. That drive train looks like an interesting setup too. Once you get the engine to fire up, a couple of new timbers on the rear frame, a bit of air in the tyres, and she's a runner mate. 🤣
That stuff in the cylinders will buff out I figure Steve. 8^) But being IH, likely it will run fine once everything's freed up and the 9 gallons of water are out of it. BTW sure the elephants might have dented the roof, but are you sure nobody ever tossed that head assy up there? 8^) Cheers from Canada!

An elephant hauler? How on earth do find these things? I’m old enough to remember when an old style circus came to town with lions and tigers. And of course the African lion safari. Good times.
@ yeah okay mate. The African lion safari is not far up behind where I live. The animals that were there were from the circus that this truck belonged to. The same family. I still do a bit for them when they need it. Good family
Keep up the good work Steve hopefully you can restore that old truck or at least make a roundabout out of it for your property. I’m surprised you don’t have an extra engine that you could just throw in the thing from something else.

Hi Rod. Yes mate I’m sure it is rare. There were a few blokes that wanted it before I brought it home. Not exactly sure of the year. I’ve always thought it was the 282, but certainly could be wrong. I was the same at 17 mate. Driving that 1924 Benz I have here in the quarry too
