I love how Ugly sonic doesn’t hold ill will towards fans for essential “canceling” him from a potential film franchise and a break in his career. Hell he’s even attending a fan convention. I like to imagine “New” sonic gave him a pep talk and to not let that get in the way from making it. True professionalism right there!
Given how cordial the VAs for each Sonic are to each other, with Ben Schwartz and Jason Griffith welcoming Deven Mack who will voice Sonic in Sonic Prime, it's fully possible the actual Sonics are all chill with each other. This is truly the year of Sonic lol
It's actually a direct mirror of what happened with the original Peter Pan voice actor Bobby Driscoll. Really surprised they would spotlight it like that.
Correction, he was the live action child actor. He outgrew the role and after developing a case of acne got terminated from Disney. He got addicted to narcotics, went to prison and his dead body was eventually found in an abandoned building.
@@nosja1214 i was surprised Disney approved that storyline because it is so close to the Driscoll tragedy. And while he was found in an abandoned building after OD, no one at the time knew who he was because of his condition and he was buried in an unclaimed people's grave in NYC. It was only later from dental records that his family knew his fate, allegedly.
Two reasons for that: 1. They didn't ask Paramount permission to use him, so they had to cut some corners. 2. A lot of the differences in his design feel like they're there to make him look more washed up and depressed, like giving him bloodshot eyes with bags and a bigger gut.

I saw Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers on Disney+ yesterday and it literally feels like a loose sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" with Roger Rabbit making a cameo. In a way you are eliminating cartoons by altering their look instead of eliminating them like Christopher Lloyd did in the original film. Peter Pan's story felt like throwing shade to the late Bobby Driscoll who is the original actor that provided the performance capture and likeness for the 1950's Peter Pan film. Driscoll's career went downhill after Peter Pan which was very sad and became even worst for him. His untimely death at 31 years of age says gone too soon and had so much to offer. At the same time you get the in-jokes and making fun of Hollywood, voice casting, addictions, sequels/reboots, etc. There is a point to every single thing they do and most of it is funny as hell and very satirical.
They made an awesome cameos throughout this film such as Roger Rabbit and Ugly Sonic. Also, I agree that this film can be a loose sequel crossover like the movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.”
This movie is much better than it had any business being. The best crossover of properties since Roger Rabbit. Ready Player One and Space Jam 2 have a lot to learn from this...

@@ribottostudio Look at the reply above 👆. I knew they were pulling from the original dark past of Peter Pan/Bobby Driscoll, I just called it a coincidence just to avoid any problems.
This Movie feels like a Massive tribute to animation in general! It’s freaking silly but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s okay. And honestly in this day and age it’s rather welcomed even if the subject matter is questionable as hell.
I loved each twist and turn of the movie, all of the references big and small, really shows how big Disney's arsenal is. You guys looked like you enjoyed it, so glad I could watch along!
Jim Cummings reprises his role as Fat Cat again the modified version and of course reprises his Darkwing Duck role from the show that is a spin-off from Duck Tales where you had a cameo of Scrooge MacDuck in the film. J.K. Simmons kind of playing a spoof to Jim Gordon paying homage to Gumby was hilarious. Will Arnett voicing Peter Pan was lol with getting to see ugly sonic who works for the FBI is just even more hilarious. This felt like Who Framed Roger Rabbit meets Last Action Hero where it's basically Bonkers and the character of Bonkers makes a cameo in the process. Some of the original cast from Rescue Rangers reprises their roles such as Tress MacNeille who voicing Gadget from the film and Dennis Haysbert this time voicing Zipper.
The only thing that is kinda disappointing is that the 2D characters are not actually handdrawn, but 3D models with a cel shading style on it, and you can see it. But at least they tried to replicate the style. Roger Rabbit still looks better though.
Well to be fair if they went fully 2D it would’ve been way more expensive and way harder and longer to make so it is understandable why they went with this approach.
Apparently, the way they were able to get all those cameos is by having them appear as a "parody " and really REALLY good lawyers that help them ride that fine line
The fact that Lerry Fong did the cinematography for this movie makes the Ben Affleck's Batman cameo that much greater since he did BvS and other Zack Snyder films. Haha

As someone who grew up on Rescue Rangers and that whole Disney afternoon, I absolutely LOVED this movie. Watched it twice already. I've watched the Easter egg break downs, and I'm sure dozens were still missed. And as Roger Rabbit is a personal favorite of mine this is the perfect companion piece. Always love seeing Roger. I feel like this was more for my generation than kids.
I could not run home after school fast enough to watch Rescue Rangers and Tailspin. Loved that they did this. Also, John, I have that same shirt! Mine is a bit faded, but love that we have something in common 👍
I am in the demographic who grew up adoring rescue rangers and all the other Saturday morning cartoons. The cameos in this were incredible. Cummings, Oppenheimer, Fleischer back as Roger Rabbit, Paul Rudd, just all of them. And holy cow Tress Macneille has lost NOTHING even after 30 years since last voicing Gadget. Eric Bana was amazing. I loved Dennis Haysbert’s addition too, that was great. I would be 1000% down for a legit reboot, personally, though I can take or leave both Samberg and Mulaney.
I think all the animation was digital, the "hand drawn" characters like Chip were cell shaded to appear that way. Very "Paperman" which is one of the Disney shorts.
This movie was the biggest surprise of the year. I enjoyed it so much as an animation fan, and kid who grew up in the 90s around the time of these shows.
I was surprised to actually love this movie 🤣 it was like the sequel that Roger Rabbit never got. And I can't believe they went there with Sonic 😂 Disney was great making this happen!
My 6 year old hid her head each time ugly sonic was on the screen because in her words "That sonic is creepy." My 11 year old though laughed about 3 minutes straight that they used him. They loved it even though they didn't get some of the references. Very good movie!
One of my favorite cameos in this movie is a voice-only one: at the very beginning when Chip and Dale get the call asking if they want their own show? That's Tad Stones, one of the key producers behind Rescue Rangers (in addition to being a writer for it). He'd also go on to do Darkwing Duck. Thought that was an awesome addition.
I feel like there's gonna be two camps: the general audience who LOVES THE CAMEOS. Plot what plot the cameos were GREAT this is THE successor to Who Framed Roger Rabbit we NEEDED. And then the film/animation buffs who are either weirded out by the animation of CG cel shading, the fact that Peter's backstory is the same as his dead VA (it's actually kinda sad), and peeved there's no actual story to this film. There's no in between.
I had to watch this because of the Lonely Island connections, don't think I even saw the trailer either, but I didn't think it would be nearly as enjoyable as it was. Loved the uses of all of the cameos. Felt like a scavenger hunt, but in a good way.
This was a charming surprise. I watched a lot of the Disney Afternoon in the younger days and revisiting these characters was lot of fun. Most of all, this was nostalgia done right unlike the most recent Space Jam reboot. I personally hope they don't make a sequel to this because it was a unique experience (like you said since Roger Rabbit way back in the 80's), and there are more Disney Afternoon properties to exploit. My vote would be Darkwing Duck or Gargoyles.
I really enjoyed seeing you guys enjoy this so much. And the fact that you hadn't seen the trailers made it even better. I was hoping to catch you at the premiere because I'm a fan of your Marvel TV reactions. I saw Coy but didn't introduce myself. Stay dangerous!
I think the most horrific part is that every cartoon we see after their own movie is the same character, but trapped in a career of bootleg film making. That's so sad.
Chip n Dale The Secret Life of Pets Sing 2 Monsters University I love how kids movies are incorporating rock and metal in to their scenes more and more.
Between Ducktales and this movie I feel Disney is gonna do a Darkwing duck thing next I loved how Main Street was basically the worst place where all the illegal activity is
The fact that they got EVERY POSSIBLE STYLE OF ANIMATION in this movie is actually insane. I was just thinking, "okay, hand-drawn/cel shading and cgi sure... wait, claymation? MUPPETS?! ANIME?! What is this movie?!" ...and then I saw South Park's Randy Marsh in there... jesus. I was NOT expecting this movie to be as crazy and fun as it wound up being.
I just watched this movie for the first time two days ago and I almost cried at the end. And reading these comments I'm glad I'm not the only one that liked it.
I think, besides the actual inclusion of Roger Rabbit, and the presence of the tube of Dip, the train tracks with the "wrong side" sign is probably a reference to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, since they seem to be in the middle of a dilapidated old warehouse and covered in brick debris, leading directly to "Main Street." Also... Paul Rudd is a direct reference to the MCU, albeit in a very tongue-in-cheek way that only makes sense for Paul Rudd to be the cameo.
I think we can all agree that Ugly Sonic is the character with the biggest comeback in all of Hollywood history ! He's gonna trend so hard with this movie ! Now I need him to actually interact with Sonic and the gang in Sonic 3 ! Also, they actually did make a dig at Marvel with Paul Rudd's infamous Aunt Man.

And then the film/animation buffs who are either weirded out by the animation of CG cel shading, the fact that Peter's backstory is the same as his dead VA (it's actually kinda sad), and peeved there's no actual story to this film.
There's no in between.
Oh God, really? That is sad.
I'm in the general audience, btw.
I had to watch this because of the Lonely Island connections, don't think I even saw the trailer either, but I didn't think it would be nearly as enjoyable as it was. Loved the uses of all of the cameos. Felt like a scavenger hunt, but in a good way.
"Uncanny valley" hehehehe This movie is very clever, Hollywood actually thought long and hard about a script for once.
Damn. We all did exactly what we were taught not to do with Ugly Sonic. Not to judge a book by its cover. Damn lol
Came here for Ugly Sonic. XD
An interesting perspective from a fan and a newcomer.
My favorite part was that chip was listening to lamb of god.❤
Is it me or is that shot of them climbing down the walls at 11:13 remind you of miles and Peter doing the same thing in into the spider-verse
EXACTLY! Chip N' Dale is how Space Jam 2 should have been done
I love the Kyle Gass cameo in the spa too!
Loved Tress MacNeille returning as well
Chip being so calm and listening to Lamb of God was one of my favorite parts 😂
Chip n Dale
The Secret Life of Pets
Sing 2
Monsters University
I love how kids movies are incorporating rock and metal in to their scenes more and more.
I love that the series co-creator and co-writer LOVED this film, he praised it on Twitter. That must be the best news for the team behind the film :)
The show Chip N Dale’s Recuse Rangers came-out only two years before Who Framed Roger Rabbit did.
I could see Jake Peralta in Andy Samberg's performance the whole time and I loved it.
I know everybody is talking about ugly Sonic, but "E.T. forgive bat" was my favorite part
I was already sold on this when I heard Mulaney and Samberg we're teaming up. But this might just be my favorite thing I've seen all year so far!
26:55 You could say Dale did the math wrong but still got the answer right 🤣
You can tell the vfx artists were laughing their asses off while animating this lmao
A piece of my childhood right there .... " Chi chi chip and dale rescue rangers ! "
Between Ducktales and this movie I feel Disney is gonna do a Darkwing duck thing next
I loved how Main Street was basically the worst place where all the illegal activity is
This movie is what people expected MoM to be.
This was actually really….. ENTERTAINING!
I literally paused your review after 5 minutes & watched the movie. Most excellent. 🤓
Now that they reacted to ugly sonic, it’s time for the good sonic movie 2 reaction
15:28 my favorite joke & reaction. Seth Rogen just delivers that line perfectly and I can't stop cracking up
This movie I can’t explain how much i love it it’s my childhood I’m so happy that there back!
A certain Ugly fella got a pop from me 😂
Detective Putty was givin me Omni Man vibes lol
The fact that they got EVERY POSSIBLE STYLE OF ANIMATION in this movie is actually insane.
I was just thinking, "okay, hand-drawn/cel shading and cgi sure... wait, claymation? MUPPETS?! ANIME?! What is this movie?!"
...and then I saw South Park's Randy Marsh in there... jesus.
I was NOT expecting this movie to be as crazy and fun as it wound up being.
I just watched this movie for the first time two days ago and I almost cried at the end. And reading these comments I'm glad I'm not the only one that liked it.
This movie was way better than I thought it would be. I would have definitely watched this in a theater.
🐿
I think, besides the actual inclusion of Roger Rabbit, and the presence of the tube of Dip, the train tracks with the "wrong side" sign is probably a reference to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, since they seem to be in the middle of a dilapidated old warehouse and covered in brick debris, leading directly to "Main Street."
Also...
I am so excited that you guys will reach 1M soon
