I honestly can't imagine a world without Bill Farmer as the voice of goofy. I also don't mind Bob Jackman. I like to think of the George Geef character being a different character altogether.
Watching this reminded me of how Scrooge McDuck has gone through quite a few changes in voice actors even though he hasn't been around as long as Mickey, Donald, or Goofy.

I think so too but I’m partial since he was my grandfather. My brother and I grew up listening to his goofy impression amongst other impersonations. My grandfather was in the sound effects department for WB and also Disney. It was never meant for him to take over the Goofy role only fill in so I don’t understand how he wasn’t well received when it was a temporary plan from the get go.

So happy he played a part in my growing up. "Oh the world owes me a living." Stuart Buchanan: Fun fact, this handsome man also voiced the huntsman in Snow White. Sadly, he only sounds like an impersonator. Not a bad one though. George Johnson: He's decent enough, but the fact that he isn't Colvig is notable. He isn't bad though. But I can see why the audience didn't like him. Bob Jackman: Who are you and what have you done with Goofy? Jimmy MacDonald: He was a decent Mickey, but he was lacking as Goofy, sadly. Hal Smith: He does well enough, I suppose. Tony Pope: Same as Smith Bill Farmer: The main Goofy of my childhood. I can't imagine anyone else as Goofy (Though Colvig is still great) Final Ranking: 1. Bill Farmer is Goofy for me. With Kingdom Hearts being my main childhood game series and liking to watch Disney shows after school, he's my absolute favorite. Especially the later years of his career as Goofy really getting into his element with it and (as said in the video), making the voice his own. Sounded like he was stressing his voice a little less too. Later animations sounded much more consistent, like you could tell he got past trying to emulate a voice if that makes sense.
The original guy created the voice, the guy that's been doing it for over 30 years has made it his own and has been the best replacement. He added a bit of a southern twang.

I loved Pinto’s creation. I mean IMO those early Disney cartoons with Mickey and Donald were absolutely hilarious. Bill Farmer is fantastic too, and he’s the voice I grew up on.
Visually nothing strikes fear into my heart like Monsters Inc Goofy, but sound wise 50's Goofy does it. Like. That's not even remotely the same character. I vastly prefer 90's dad Goofy where he's a dad but he's still obviously Goofy
George Johnson is the kind of VA you’d get if you made a one-off gag starring a ‘suave Goofy’. Close enough vocal mannerisms to be recognizable. But completely different sound.
Pinto’s Goofy is what I’ll always hear in my mind when I think of the character. Bill seems to have gotten the closest to that sound, in the years since.
Everyone in the comments seems to agree that Bill Farmer is the best. And I'm of the same opinion. Bill's Goofy certainly has a special charm and the voice makes Goofy seem more dim-witted without being just plain dumb, if that makes sense. Like, Goofy isn't smart, but he's not an idiot either, just mostly hapless and clumsy.

While I was never a huge Goofy fan, Bill Farmer is MY Goofy. I had no idea he was doing the Mickey Shorts! he really flexed while voicing those shorts. Those shorts made me appreciate Goofy in a new way.

According to John Canemaker, Colvig's replacement in the 40s was named Danny Webb. When you do Pete's voice, it sounds like Colvig did the voice in Klondike Kid and Building a Building.
Bill Farmer’s gotta be my pick for best. He carries that silly Colvig spirit in his performance, but he has so much range that the sentimental moments between him and Max as father and son really hit. Makes Goofy such a well fleshed-out character.

Pinto Colvig is a classic and did a great job establishing Goofy's voice and made him the lovable goof that we all know in love today. In terms of the stand ins during Colvig's era, Stuart Buchanan's pretty mediocre and sounds too dopey for my taste while Danny Webb (he's the one that filled in while Colvig was gone not George Johnsnon) is okay but sounds a bit too deep as Goofy. I can see why they minimized his dialogue during this time. Jimmy MacDonald sounds way too stupid and more like a generic idiot than Goofy. Bill Lee (who did the singing for Laugh, Laugh, Laugh / Jokes and Riddles song on that one album) was also okay for the singing but not very memorable. Bob Jackman's okay for the George Geef shorts but I can't imagine him fitting the traditional Goofy. As for the post Colvig voices, it comes off as no surprise that Bill Farmer's my favorite of those guys. In fact, he's an example of the successor surpassing the original doing a great job capturing Colvig's mannerisms and voice while still making the voice his own with A Goofy Movie being one of these shinning examples. Hal Smith, Tony Pope, and Will Ryan (who did a few specials in the late 80s as Goofy) are okay too with Tony Pope being the best of the non-Farmer successors albeit a tad inconsistent at times. 1. Unpopular opinion here. But I like the George Geef shorts with Bon Jackman's voice. I wish Disney would make Geef into his own character nowadays. Those 50's shorts are my childhood.
George Johnsons sounds more like Goofy when he sings than when he actually talks - I really like his singing though. I highly appreciate Hals performace in Mickey's Christmas Carol, I think he became more accustomed to the role over the years. The best Goofy voices in general are Colvig and Farmer without a doubt.
They redubbed a whole tonne of classic shorts, they went under the name "Have a Laugh". If you go to the Mickey Mouse UA-cam channel, any video with "Classic Short" in the title is a redubbed version. Don't have a huge issue with the redubbing, problem is, they also cut the shorts down from about 6 mins to 2.

Pinto originated Goofy...but Bill established him. He really did elevate him to a new level and actually makes a ridiculous character insanely lovable, and that's a tough thing to accomplish.
I could have bad hearing,but I think Tony Pope and Bill Farmer sound fairly identical. In the case of Bill Farmer,though,his voice has a slightly high inflection (is that the right word?)

Bill farmer has been the voice of Goofy since I was a child. Of course, I also love the original Pinto Clovig too.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't think George Johnson did that bad of a job on Goofy. He sounded fine.
George did a better job as Goofy's voice in Goofy's Glider then Goofy and Wilber.

.the kingdom hearts appearances, and even the lion guard and any other appearances between 1994 and 2016 when the Lion guard had premiered initally with the tv movie of the lion guard tv movie initally airing back in 2015
im not going to count the donald glover lion king in this suggested list because while that film does have a mix of people, some casting choices are good, while other casting choices are bad, the writers and directors on that film should have been slightly more careful when picking the actors for the characters, similar to how aladdin did a good job picking the actors to play aladdin and jasmine,
According to John Canemaker, Colvig's replacement in the 40s was named Danny Webb.
When you do Pete's voice, it sounds like Colvig did the voice in Klondike Kid and Building a Building.

Bill Farmer’s gotta be my pick for best. He carries that silly Colvig spirit in his performance, but he has so much range that the sentimental moments between him and Max as father and son really hit. Makes Goofy such a well fleshed-out character.

I remembered that goofy (Bill Farmer) accidentally slipped and screamed and then Donald (Tony Anselmo and Daisy (Tress Macneille) said shhhh before Mickey (Wayne Allwine) and his friends surprised Minnie (Russi Taylor) for her birthday. The most historic moment in my childhood moment and I can’t get it out of my head
Pinto Colvig is a classic and did a great job establishing Goofy's voice and made him the lovable goof that we all know in love today.
In terms of the stand ins during Colvig's era, Stuart Buchanan's pretty mediocre and sounds too dopey for my taste while Danny Webb (he's the one that filled in while Colvig was gone not George Johnsnon) is okay but sounds a bit too deep as Goofy. I can see why they minimized his dialogue during this time. Jimmy MacDonald sounds way too stupid and more like a generic idiot than Goofy. Bill Lee (who did the singing for Laugh, Laugh, Laugh / Jokes and Riddles song on that one album) was also okay for the singing but not very memorable. Bob Jackman's okay for the George Geef shorts but I can't imagine him fitting the traditional Goofy.
As for the post Colvig voices, it comes off as no surprise that Bill Farmer's my favorite of those guys. In fact, he's an example of the successor surpassing the original doing a great job capturing Colvig's mannerisms and voice while still making the voice his own with A Goofy Movie being one of these shinning examples. Hal Smith, Tony Pope, and Will Ryan (who did a few specials in the late 80s as Goofy) are okay too with Tony Pope being the best of the non-Farmer successors albeit a tad inconsistent at times.

George Johnsons sounds more like Goofy when he sings than when he actually talks - I really like his singing though. I highly appreciate Hals performace in Mickey's Christmas Carol, I think he became more accustomed to the role over the years. The best Goofy voices in general are Colvig and Farmer without a doubt.

Wait, they redubbed classic Goofy shorts in 2009? I had no idea. I'm actually interested in checking them out.
They redubbed a whole tonne of classic shorts, they went under the name "Have a Laugh". If you go to the Mickey Mouse UA-cam channel, any video with "Classic Short" in the title is a redubbed version. Don't have a huge issue with the redubbing, problem is, they also cut the shorts down from about 6 mins to 2.

Pinto originated Goofy...but Bill established him. He really did elevate him to a new level and actually makes a ridiculous character insanely lovable, and that's a tough thing to accomplish.

Despite being born way later then the gen he started speaking, the VHS I had mostly contained a lot of goofy material. So my intro to the voice mostly came from the silent shorts and the goofy movies

1. Richard Edwards voiced Goofy at the end of Mickey’s Trailer as well as a couple lines in The Whalers.
2. Johnson did not voice Goofy in Goofy and Wilbur. It was Jack Bailey.
3. Johnson also voiced Goofy in 1945’s No Sail in a case of a short being made for a few years.
4. MacDonald also voiced Goofy in Californy’er Bust and Lion Down.
5. Cactus Mack provided Goofy’s narration in Californy’er Bust.
6. Gilbert Mack voiced Goofy in the 1955 record Goofy the Toreador.
7. Peter Hawkins voiced Goofy in the 1966 series Disney Wonderland on ITV.
7. One of Colvig’s last roles as Goofy was a Soaky commercial featuring Goofy and Pluto, and the Telephone Pavilion at Expo 67.
8. Walker Edmiston voiced Goofy in the 1974 Christmas Carol record that was the basis for the 1983 Mickey’s Christmas Carol short.
9. Pope also voiced Goofy on the 1979 Mickey Mouse Disco record and in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
