    Jammed with a friend of Alberts named Carmine in Arizona years ago. Seems Albert is truly a very good guy in real life. Also, a kick ass guitar player! Burlington Bill singer songwriter busking from the road and home.

      Albert is underrated unless you know something about country music., He was Guitar Player magazine's top country guitarist for 5b years in a row. When the other British guitarists like Eric Clapton were all playing blues, Albert was doing country as well as it can be done.

    Can't beat a James Taylor arrangement & it didn't quite.

  • @magikoflove
    @magikoflove 2 роки тому +2

    Let's set the record straight on this one. First I just love the way Albert & Peter played this song, but this is not a James Taylor song. This song was originally recorded by Jimmy Jones in 1960. Yes, JT did record this song and I love his arrangement of this song. Now many people will think of this as a JT song because they have never heard the original recording. Their ignorance does not change the facts or the truth of the matter.
    Please due your research and get the whole story prior to giving one artist credit where it is due to another artist. Just for the record I love JT's version of the song and I also love Jimmy Jones version that I remember from my youth. Please, due your research!
    Since Albert Lee & Peter Asher are contemporaries of mine I can tell you with absolute certainty they have both heard the original of this song and the original arrangement is the song that inspired this arrangement. The original also as the inspiration for James Taylor's version.
    Great song & I love all 3 versions!

      I made note of the original writer (Otis Blackwell) and singer (Jimmy Jones) in an earlier reply. I also noted that Peter Asher explained the origins of the song and that, while JT's version is he most well known, it was in fact a cover.

    " is a song written by singer Jimmy Jones and songwriter Otis Blackwell.

    • @JBC321
      @JBC321  3 роки тому

      Correct. Peter Asher went out of his way to mention the original writers before playing the song. He noted how many hit songs were in fact covers of songs by black artists that never got proper exposure.

    • @jamesevans9007
      @jamesevans9007 2 роки тому +2

      @@JBC321 That's correct and besides not getting the proper exposure, many Black artists were cheated out of royalties and other ancillary profits from their work. The one that comes immediately to mind is the person many consider to be the real King of Rock and Roll - Little Richard.

      The other early Albert Lee album I believe is called Hiding, again im working from an old memory so forgive mistakes, he went on to do some really good instrumental albums and than tour with Hogan's Heroes playing some old favorites which made it to CD , if you go way back he was with a band called Head Hands and Feet ,really good stuff that I felt should have been a household name but again they were studio guys that had other obligations, if you ever see Old Soldiers get it you won't be sorry.

    Asher's bass is about 8 levels too loud. Ruins the song. Albert Lee, who is one of my favorite guitar players, does a really good playing and singing.
