This is literally the reason why I hope she's happy with her new boyfriend. I haven't come across any complaints from her or anything negative about him, so I hope he's treating her right. I actually purchased and read her book, and I can say that she definitely deserves happiness. Anyone who goes through so much and can come out on top, does.
@@ChillaChang99 seem like some of them deserved it. Apparently the industry is not all butterflies and rainbows. What's worse is I'm sure once someone is signed, the person who signed them believes they have the right to treat them however they please. I also wouldn't be surprised if she behaves as a diva as a way to protect herself. I've read rumor that Xtina is also a diva, but it seems she also had a rough childhood filled with a abuse from her father (as well seeing her mother experience abuse at the hands of her father). We can't continue to excuse people for diva-ish behavior that they continue to have as they get older as after some point they must take accountability for their own behavior, but I do think it help to understand where the behavior coming from. It's my hope that they come out on top as a better/happier version of themselves.
the craziest part is that she already revealed all of this decades ago through her music. the lyrics of one of her songs relased in the late 90s: "so many i considered closest to me turned on a dime and sold me out dutifully. although that knife was chipping away at me, they turned their eyes away and went home to sleep" for years i thought this was just a metaphor... 😞

The one thing I keep seeing is age gaps in unhealthy relationships. There’s already a power imbalance if you’re barely an adult and someone who’s old enough to be your parent is interested in you. Red flags all over but I’m not blaming Mariah.

She's still a diva in the right sense of the word to me (outstanding singer and one who enjoys the extravagant life she earned). But if anyone has been watching her interviews; interviews of fans, friends, co-workers or listening to her webpage voice notes throughout her entire career (or even Twitter spaces today), they would realize that: • Mariah has a weird but great sense of humour • She's actually very humble, respectful, generous, intelligent and light-hearted. • Her musical talents are pretty insane and she's still very underrated in the industry and public (despite massive success). They never gave her the respect she deserved, especially orgs like the Grammys etc.

Her album Daydream was such a perfect album in such a dark time in her life. Throughout the tracks, you can really tell that she wants to live in a fantasy land where it's always a happy place and then as the tracks progressed, you get a sense that all of it is just a facade. Towards the end, she wakes up in her Daydream in the "Daydream Interlude" and the final track reveals what she's actually going through mentally. Such a brilliant songwriter.
Mariah & Britney both have had- “evil” management, greedy families, evil sisters, listening devices monitoring them, security that stopped them from breathing the wrong way. I live for the day Britney gets to read Mariah’s book.

Tommy is a classic Narcissist. She is describing the same thing I went through for a decade with my ex. I love Mariah. I've been a huge fan of hers ever since I was a little girl, when I first heard emotions. When she came out with her book, it really shocked me. There were things in it that I didn't know, the public didn't know. She has proven that she can hide pain and trauma very well in the public eye. She's been through so much pain and suffering. I wish there was something I could do for her, other than buying her records. All I want is for Mariah and her children to live a happy, loving, long life, and to enjoy the riches life offers you, because not many in the world get to be a famous musical artist, nor do they get to have a great mother who just happens to be one of the most famous and iconic voices of music.💜💜 Thank you for the upload Sloan. Thalia is his current wife. She was the IT girl when I was a child growing up in Mexico 🇲🇽 She was in many telenovelas, had hit records all over LatinAmerica, tho she still has been in the public eye somehow, she hasn’t been the same. She was a happy girl and i know she has been stripped out of her original self. I do feel she’s still with him because for her that was her dream. A lot of the roles she played in telenovelas was that of a poor girl marrying a rich guy. She already was rich & famous when she married him, but not Mottola rich. She’s still well known in LatinAmerica and has continued to produce records, but you can also tell she’s definitely more conservative now, almost like she’s not allowed to be sexy. I don’t think she’s ever going to divorce him unless he does. Idk just my two cents.
He probably didn't want her to escape like Mariah did and maybe that is what her idea of success is just landing a rich guy, even Shakira had to tone things down for her relationship and not make music videos with other men. And we all know what patriarchal cultures expects of wives, that they must keep everything together for the sake of the family even if the man is terribly controlling and abusive.

Mariah was always an inspiration. Vision of Love came out when I was in middle school and she was the first celebrity that looked like “me” as in being biracial and having curly hair. The kids in high school used to call me “mariah” and diva. Her voice is so unique and she will always be special to me no matter what happens. She broke many records and boundaries. I hope she enjoys raising her kids and living her best life.
A dysfunctional family, an abusive marriage, bipolar disorder, she survived quite a lot in her life and came out stronger and wiser as a result. I remember Michael Jackson talking about how Mariah cried in his arms because of how miserable she was with Tommy, maybe Michael called him "the Devil" for a reason. It would've been in Mariah and Tommy's best interest if their relationship remained just a professional one, he kinda acknowledged that his controlling ways got out of control. Mariah is an inspiration in more ways that one, in my experience her music made my life more bearable multiple times. She shares such a special connection with her fans and i knew the worst was behind her when she delivered her acceptance speech for her Billboard Icon Award: "And to anyone who's ever told me a song I wrote helped save their life, I thank you because you saved mine and I'll be eternally grateful."
Reading her memoir made me fall even more in love with her. She is an icon and an inspiration. She’s faced some of the roughest things a human being can face and it really gives me hope

I’ve been in a relationship similar to this , and it is soooo hard to leave . The abuser is terrifying for so many reasons even if the abuse is not physical …. I’ve been out of mine for only about three months now and it was so so hard . I had to make up a story in order to leave my former partner and make my escape . These abusers are so unhinged you just never know what They’re gonna do 😢
Sloan, I had listened to Mariah since she came out with Vision of Love when I was 5, and yet I had no idea about any of this!!!! It does make sense now because Tommy was a powerful older man and Mariah was just 19 and brand new to the business, so the power dynamic was naturally skewed. Thank you for this. Mariah is even more of a survivor than I ever knew.

Or 16? I can't remember) My heart breaks for Mariah and all that she has been through. Bless her heart that she is STILL taking care of her mother despite what she has done to Mariah and her siblings. Like I knew he would never hit me but I was still scared to break up with him in person bec of the screaming n swearing that would happen for hours I even had to end a 2yr relationship over the phone(call not text) n I still don’t regret it bec that’s how scary it can get with emotional abuse. People can be so manipulative & often good ppl fall victim to this thinking they’ve “found the one” & that they’re just loving & caring for an individual until it gets so bad u just can’t do it anymore

Thalia's career is pretty much over now post marriage to Mottola. Thalia has a history of hooking up with older, much richer men. She was in a relationship with a former Mexican president's son (see Alfredo Diaz Ordaz) He was 20 years her senior, previously married and died before they got married. So IMO Thalia is down with entering transactional relationships.

Like humidity😂 It’s funny cause I often describe my 1st experience with humidity in my early 20s as extremely invasive & without boundaries like the air is like a body just laying all it’s weight on you & it’s like yo wtf personal space much? I also wouldn't be surprised if she behaves as a diva as a way to protect herself. I've read rumor that Xtina is also a diva, but it seems she also had a rough childhood filled with a abuse from her father (as well seeing her mother experience abuse at the hands of her father).
We can't continue to excuse people for diva-ish behavior that they continue to have as they get older as after some point they must take accountability for their own behavior, but I do think it help to understand where the behavior coming from. It's my hope that they come out on top as a better/happier version of themselves.

Her album Daydream was such a perfect album in such a dark time in her life. Throughout the tracks, you can really tell that she wants to live in a fantasy land where it's always a happy place and then as the tracks progressed, you get a sense that all of it is just a facade. Towards the end, she wakes up in her Daydream in the "Daydream Interlude" and the final track reveals what she's actually going through mentally. Such a brilliant songwriter.

I love Mariah. I've been a huge fan of hers ever since I was a little girl, when I first heard emotions. When she came out with her book, it really shocked me. There were things in it that I didn't know, the public didn't know. She has proven that she can hide pain and trauma very well in the public eye.
She's been through so much pain and suffering. I wish there was something I could do for her, other than buying her records. All I want is for Mariah and her children to live a happy, loving, long life, and to enjoy the riches life offers you, because not many in the world get to be a famous musical artist, nor do they get to have a great mother who just happens to be one of the most famous and iconic voices of music.💜💜

Thalia is his current wife. She was the IT girl when I was a child growing up in Mexico 🇲🇽 She was in many telenovelas, had hit records all over LatinAmerica, tho she still has been in the public eye somehow, she hasn’t been the same. She was a happy girl and i know she has been stripped out of her original self. I do feel she’s still with him because for her that was her dream. A lot of the roles she played in telenovelas was that of a poor girl marrying a rich guy. She already was rich & famous when she married him, but not Mottola rich. She’s still well known in LatinAmerica and has continued to produce records, but you can also tell she’s definitely more conservative now, almost like she’s not allowed to be sexy. I don’t think she’s ever going to divorce him unless he does. Idk just my two cents.

The kids in high school used to call me “mariah” and diva. Her voice is so unique and she will always be special to me no matter what happens. She broke many records and boundaries. A dysfunctional family, an abusive marriage, bipolar disorder, she survived quite a lot in her life and came out stronger and wiser as a result. I remember Michael Jackson talking about how Mariah cried in his arms because of how miserable she was with Tommy, maybe Michael called him "the Devil" for a reason. It would've been in Mariah and Tommy's best interest if their relationship remained just a professional one, he kinda acknowledged that his controlling ways got out of control. Mariah is an inspiration in more ways that one, in my experience her music made my life more bearable multiple times. She shares such a special connection with her fans and i knew the worst was behind her when she delivered her acceptance speech for her Billboard Icon Award: "And to anyone who's ever told me a song I wrote helped save their life, I thank you because you saved mine and I'll be eternally grateful."
Reading her memoir made me fall even more in love with her. She is an icon and an inspiration. She’s faced some of the roughest things a human being can face and it really gives me hope

I’ve been in a relationship similar to this , and it is soooo hard to leave . The abuser is terrifying for so many reasons even if the abuse is not physical …. I’ve been out of mine for only about three months now and it was so so hard . I had to make up a story in order to leave my former partner and make my escape . These abusers are so unhinged you just never know what They’re gonna do 😢

Sloan, I had listened to Mariah since she came out with Vision of Love when I was 5, and yet I had no idea about any of this!!!! It does make sense now because Tommy was a powerful older man and Mariah was just 19 and brand new to the business, so the power dynamic was naturally skewed. Thank you for this. Or 16? I can't remember)

Like I knew he would never hit me but I was still scared to break up with him in person bec of the screaming n swearing that would happen for hours I even had to end a 2yr relationship over the phone(call not text) n I still don’t regret it bec that’s how scary it can get with emotional abuse. People can be so manipulative & often good ppl fall victim to this thinking they’ve “found the one” & that they’re just loving & caring for an individual until it gets so bad u just can’t do it anymore

not everyone acts the same in all relationships, stop making Mariah seem like some little angle lol I had a very toxic relationship with an ex girlfriend, youd think I would act the same way with my now wife aka mother of my two children but I do not, certain people just happen to bring out the worst in you while others bring you peace. So while maybe Tommy had some toxic thing with Mariah, that doesnt mean hes the same way with Thalia.

It's bizarre that Everyone always talks about and feels sorry for Mariah. While I love her, one can't ignore the fact that she essentially had an affair with a married man, and split a home with two young children. Tommy's ex wife should write her book detailing her pain

Thalia married Tommy because of his power & $$money! She always been with older men for the $$🤑🤑 & to get ahead in her music/acting career. Unfortunately she didn't make it in the music industry here in the U.S. but Tommy controls her & even to what she wears or the people she surrounds herself with. Thalia lives in her nice mansion but she might be a prisoner in her own home! 😒

Mariah didn't like this relationship/ business deal and she wanted out ...but on another note it looks like Beyonce loves it the way Mariah had it ...being locked down to her man while he is running a business using her career and talents building up her wealth and stardom keeping her locked in is what Beyonce wants.... And yes, all of my parents generations were like: "look at her, getting married for the money, for the fame, shameful Btch and so on and so fort". And the same was said about Celine Dion! I don’t care what ppl say about Mariah, that she’s shady or she’s a driva or acts like she’s better than everyone, she’s still a person and I believe everything she’s been saying and it just feels so genuine. I have a heart for ppl who who even do wrong or maybe not the best person or liked by everyone cuz even the not so best ppl deserves love depending on the situation and for Mariah I feel no matter how ppl feel about her I can respect the fact she opened up and felt the need to be somewhat vulnerable.
MC says in her book that Tommy pressured her to marry him and basically forced her, promising her that it would get better once they got married. His control and abuse was 100% to break her down and own a superstar work-horse so that he could have complete legal control over her once she became like Brittany Spears and could live off her for the rest of his miserable life. He didn't expect Mariah to survive on her own, or to even have the balls to leave in the first place. I would have paid big money to see his face the moment he realized she was getting it good from Jeter behind his back!!!! LOL.

Like humidity😂 It’s funny cause I often describe my 1st experience with humidity in my early 20s as extremely invasive & without boundaries like the air is like a body just laying all it’s weight on you & it’s like yo wtf personal space much? But there’s no escape. I’m from LA where our heat is more dry but Floridians have Stockholm syndrome for humidity or something cause that’s the only thing that explains not leaving immediately lol.
