Hi there! I want to personally thank your family for making these toys. My mom and grandma were fans of Toy Story along with me. I remember getting Woody back in Summer 2010 and Utility Belt Buzz that Christmas. My mother and grandmother are sadly no longer with us. But I still keep them. I just recently bought a Toy Story signature collection Buzz Lightyear off Mercari. I wanted to get him before he goes even higher in value. These Beautiful and amazing toys have been a huge help through my grief and my anxiety. This hobby brought my wife and I together as well. Thank you again.

Mr. Chan, I just want to thank you, your uncle, and your entire family for everything you guys have done, not just with your incredible work on your Toy Story toys, but for everything you guys have made since 1984. You gave us nearly 40 years of fun and adventure. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without all the incredible work you all did. Thank you so much. ❤
This is sad to hear. I would've liked Thinkway Toys to produce toys to promote Pixar's Lightyear, but it's such a devastating shame for them to disintegrate into nothing.
@@todayigrewupOh man I knew I should've bought the Signature Collection RC , Jessie , Bullseye, the aliens from Pizza Planet , and Rex back in 2015. Hopefully I will find them in good condition at a flea market one of these days.
Considering they appear to still have a social media presence (albeit a dormant one) I think the company does still exist, they likely just: -lost the Disney/Pixar license (and) -operate under a new name, or privately
I worked as a toy concept artist at Thinkway for 19 years. We parted ways in 2019 when they ran out of work for me. Before Thinkway, I worked at Disney Canada for 13 years and was involved in the original Toy Story toy line. Great times!
I feel like 2020 definitely hurt Thinkway Toys. I don't know what happened to them but I truly hope they return. Maybe they're planning a relaunch, who knows. All I know is it sucks having the best Toy Story toys on the market go away and driving the prices sky high on places like eBay. If other toy companies had the same level of love, care and quality that Thinkway had, maybe their absence wouldn't be as felt but since a lot of toy companies nowadays go the cheap route you definitely feel Thinkway's absence. I'm really glad you made this video as it'll draw more attention to their sudden disappearance and hopefully we get an answer.
This is so sad. I never had any Toy Story toys by Thinkway but I'll always appreciate them because they are part of the reason why Toy Story was able to become as big as it was. If no toy companies had made toys for the film back in 1995, I think it still would've been a success but not the massive phenomenon it was
I believe the personal connection Albert Chan has with John Lasseter has something to do with it too, just a hunch. Maybe because John isn't connected with the films or any new media Albert was afraid to take the risk for quality and popularity concerns?? I've heard he is working with John Lasseter and Skydance now to produce toys for 'Luck' That is saying something! Looking forward to see what they come up with on going.
I doubt anything happened to Thinkway themselves. Just this year, as late as April, they still had ties to the Toy Story franchise. Their website changed in May to no longer include their license history... and I'm not sure why. Perhaps they lost the license or they just wanted to streamline their website. Somebody has done a nice job archiving their website on the Wayback Machine though. I advise taking a look for yourself.
I found new information! In the future, Thinkway will not be selling Toy Story or Pixar products, but the Luck series, a movie from the studio where Pixar director John Lasseter currently works, called Skydance. Also, it seems that Thinkway will be active under the name Toikido in the future, so thinkway is not bankrupt. However, please note that Pixar products such as Toy Story and Lightyear will no longer be produced.
I saw that. Yes it’s sad they will no longer do Pixar or Toy Story that means the toys are going to be even more rare in the future. They are already all super expensive on eBay.
@@todayigrewup I agree. Currently, normal talking figures are sold at a low price, but the Toy Story Collection series is generally more expensive. And also the bond between Albert Chan and John Lasseter is a wonderful relationship.
I remember Thinkway Toys. They created Pixar toys like the ones from Toy Story and WALL-E. Believe it or not, Thinkway Toys also made an employee desk accessory of the Pixar logo with the hopping Luxo Jr. and the remote control of the Luxo Ball. My mom almost bought it off of eBay a long time ago, but someone else already bought it and made a video about it on UA-cam when they discovered this old video of another person reviewing it.
It's very sad that think way toys doesn't make the signature collection toys anymore. Some of those toys from the lineup like Buzz Lightyear or RC have become very rare and ridiculously expensive. I'm really hoping that in the future there would be a new toy company that would save the license to make new Toy Story toys and make an awesome successor to the Toy Story signature Collection.
Answers before the video: I HAVE NO IDEA! 2: contract negotiations fell through. Or they went bankrupt somehow. Edit: I think they went private, maybe they'll be back after the whole lightyear craze is done and then maybe make a comeback, or after Mattel's toy story contracts or licencing deals expire.
It’s very sad to see thinkway go down and lost the license to Disney and a bunch of more franchises, I do hope they come back but the chances of that seem slim right now
If they truly are gone..they will be missed...I got collection Woody when I was 5, that was 10 years ago...my former friend gifted me her collection Bullseye....those are the only thinkway toys I have but....they made awesome ones from what I've seen online, and in person with Woody and Bullseye... If they are gone, it seems that thinkway Toy Story lads are suddenly more rare than they already were. I'm really going to miss them if they're gone...
To be honest the first woody and buzz that thinkway made that most adults had as a kid are not ugly or scary like some later coming toy story toys they are cool
Considering how much we’ve seen from Mattel these past few years, it’s pretty safe to say Thinkway no longer has the license to the Pixar characters, which considering those were their most profitable items they might’ve just gone under at this point. Which is such a shame, they were basically the beginning of Toy Story merchandise and their TS3 figures were by far the most accurate figures ever made. That being said, their 2019 and 2020 figures were pretty awful…
Definitely agree on the lack in quality of their last figures but it's also likely that the drop in quality was due to the business declining and budgetary constraints.
Thanks for talking about this, literally all information I found about this company is just blurbs on their site and fan wikis talking about what they have done like it's still happening. I was lucky enough to get the collectibles I wanted from them in the past I but always held out hope they would still be there for anniversary releases, sad to see them go. If Mattel is the master license holder now they have a golden opportunity to do a Collector line of movie accurate releases and I hope they take it.
I also had a very strange feeling about this. Why they just... disappeared? Just a question: Where did you find that ThinkWay Toys manufacturing footage?

All I could really say is thank you Thinkway Toys for making such amazing toys of these fantastic characters over the years and it's not just for Toy Story, in my case it's also Wall-E, I don't know where you'll be in the future but I'm hoping it's not too soon or far away when it comes to another license…
I do believe Mattel has the Toystory toy license now. Judging that Toystory 4 was the last time we saw the Toystory collection but I’m disappointed that Mattel is rising with cheap toys.
My heart broke watching this, video all the good memories going to toy R us seeing toy story toys minion inside out, coco all the Pixar shows and even more toys, this brings back so much memories happiness going into a Toys R us as a kid, and getting toys, specially thinkway, hopefully one day they will return, but for now Rest In Peace thinkway toys.. 😥😢
And not to break the news more, but toy story is also done I think. Because a year ago, they were talking about they were planing on making more Pixar movies that are not toy story, they wanted woody to have a good ending in toy story 4 could be true or not.. I don’t know what the years will bring us 😔
Nope look at how much money that movie made! Over 1 billion dollars in revenue the most money a Toy Story movie has ever made. Success is based on box office numbers. Extremely profitable for the company and that’s why they are making Toy Story 5. They know it’s gonna make serious money.
In a way, they did lose the license. Mattel seems to be the new home for the Toy Story franchise given their recent products (Action Chop Buzz, Roundup Fun Woody, etc). Now the question remains: Will the Toy Story francise become what the Star Wars currently is with year around products on the shelf or will stay like how it is now with just Woody & Buzz in one shelf space that you can maybe find in the Fall or Summer? I personally hope Mattel allows a space for other characters like Rex, Hamm, Trixie, the Aliens to become common 12 inch scale toys you can find on store shelves all year long.
Disney pulled the Toy Story license around 2021 or 2022. It's currently March 2023 when I'm commenting this and the Thinkway website says "500 server error" so I'd say it's safe to assume they're gone for. Frankly I don't think they could've stopped it. They stopped making Minions and Star Wars toys around 2016, stopped Batman toys around 2013 so Toy Story was really their only flagship. I don't think it helped that Toys R Us (The only distributor of the Signature Collection line from 2012-2018) went bankrupt in the US and UK, and the fact that the also now-defunct Disney Store never stocked Thinkway products in the last decade. Truly sad to see them go though as they made excellent products.
Quite a shame, I think that the last 3 years were terrible for them. But with the new 12 inch figures and even the spotlight series, I dont think its out of the question for Mattel to tackle the replica territory
This is a real shame. We can talk about their latest Buzz Lightyear figures not being the same quality as their older figures all we want, but at least Thinkway was still in the game for Toy Story and other properties. Personally I don’t see any other toy company capturing the same magic of Toy Story that Thinkway did. This company gave a whole new meaning to Disney magic and brought it into our childhood. I myself as a kid have collected a lot of Toy Story toys from this company over the years and to see this company disappear hurts a lot. At the same time, I think other companies should have a chance to bring Toy Story and other properties to life. I’m glad I’ve gotten the chance to purchase Thinkway’s products during their run
Thanks for the video mate. I only came here because i have been looking for the instructions for a Thinkway Millennium Falcon drone i have. Thanks for the insight. Shame about what happened to them.
If this is a licensing problem, which I think it is, I wouldn't think much of it myself. They actually lost the license around 2004 and got it back by 2009, and I think they also lost it after 2015 but gained it back by 2018 but I'm not entirely positive about that. This definitely is very concerning though. My thought is that they're probably downscaling their company significantly, or they're going out of business. Either way this is pretty sad to hear since I love thinkway minus their Toy Story 4 toys.

I wish Thinkway Toys got the Halo license because they could've probably made a badass animated buzz lightyear sized master chief action figure. RIP Thinkway and Toy State both toy companies made my favorite childhood toys.
Thinkway toys really did try to make toy story characters not just for a little children but for all ages who watch the movie that’s what the company did. They really try to include everyone to make all their favorite characters come to life in the real world. It’s just..the camaraderie in the company along with the toy story community fan base makes everyone’s dreams come true.

Well, by what you posted in this video of Thinkway Toys, they must of “shut down” went out of business. Best toys ever made for Toy Story! Just think if they had the license for Lightyear movie - we maybe would of had better quality of toys. I really wish I had that utility belt Buzz Lightyear.

Honesty after the pandemic and shortages of all kinds of materials and labor…. I wouldn’t be shocked if ThinkWay was struggling to meet demand or still manufacture toy story products so knowing woke Disney probably ripped the license from them and took their business elsewhere which might’ve been the nail in the coffin closing them for good. I hope this isn’t the case cause I love ThinkWay
People haven’t dealt with a tragedy like this since toys r us disappeared I think much mego corporation and Knickerbocker Those toy companies aren’t popular like Hasbro or Mattel
Hopefully Disney can give the rights to think we toys again to make a wave five And I want to see Mrs. potato head Weezy Gabi Gabi Rocky Jubel Zirgan combat Carl

They Made Minion toys in 2017 For despicable me 3
Quite a shame, I think that the last 3 years were terrible for them. But with the new 12 inch figures and even the spotlight series, I dont think its out of the question for Mattel to tackle the replica territory
From what I heard inside Mattel they have no plans to make full scale Toy Story toys.
There still Comeing in stock in UK Scotland But sad for the USA rip a Toy Story toy Company one of the Best
Oh wow didn’t know that
This is a real shame.
Hasbro or their Hasbro Pulse projects would be a really good plan to get the definitive versions of these toys
When ts2 came out all the the ts1 toys were repackaged but ended up in the clearance isle.
Yeah I remember
Imagine that thinkway produced 1 billion Toy story collection Buzz lightyear and Woody on each, they won't be rare like current days.
Yeah they couldn’t make that many
If this is a licensing problem, which I think it is, I wouldn't think much of it myself.
Yeah for now they are done with toy story let’s hope they come back again if another Toy Story releases one day.
Oh come on the Signature collection toys for Toy Story 4 were still really good
@@tstdystopmotionsdepende por qué luego sacaban como el Woody de peluche,o el interactivo dónde los botones estaban pintados osea desde ay ya se veía su decadencia y de hecho el único que hablo sobre eso fue Danhood.
Aww, it’s such a shame that their company disappeared and i would always wanted a Thinkway Woody and a Thinkway Buzz. Well, i guess it’s to late to get them 😭
Yeah eBay prices are too crazy but maybe one day you can find used ones for good deals
That’s true and I’ll always appreciate thinkway toys for what we do have
I just emailed them about a replacement hat six days ago and they haven’t responded and I don’t think they will 😭😭😭
Yes I think they are officially done with Toy Story now. Sorry partner
I actually emailed them last year, because I wanted some replacement parts for my Buzz Lightyear, and they told me to go talk to Disney about it
That’s weird because Disney doesn’t carry thinkway toy parts so that makes no sense
@@todayigrewup well I mostly wanted replacement stickers. So I’m guessing they suggested contacting Disney since I’m assuming the stickers are pretty similar
Man, I really do miss them, I have lots of their Toy Story and Despicable Me toys, with more coming in the future from places like eBay and thrift stores, I hope Albert is doing ok right now and hopefully he still has all of the molds for the toys so maybe one day thinkway could come back, but that’s highly doubtful, but still, Thank You Thinkway Toys, For Everything
My childhood belongs to thinkway toys, literally my most beloved toys were from thinkway and i didn't knew it, until now :')
love your videos keep up the good work
Thank you so much partner 🤠
Well, by what you posted in this video of Thinkway Toys, they must of “shut down” went out of business. Best toys ever made for Toy Story!
Just think if they had the license for Lightyear movie - we maybe would of had better quality of toys.
I really wish I had that utility belt Buzz Lightyear.
That would of been amazing but it didn’t happen sadly
they got too expensive but i still have my prickle pants and lotso
I think costs went up for the toy makers too making things harder to make a profit on.
It’s a shame that unless Toy Story 5 is confirmed they are done Welp No Prototypes for thinkway
Afortunadamente si va a ver toy story 5 si es que no se retrasa como Toystory 4
great video TodayIGrewUP keep the great work
With Toy Story 5 coming out next year, I wonder what toys would be produced
I hope that they aren’t gone. It would be really sad for my favorite Toy Story company to be gone.
They are done with making Toy Story for now
@@todayigrewup I have looked at their website and they TALK about toy story but with names or the actual name, for example:”One spent 15 months in the international space station”. This makes me think they lost the license to Toy Story
The only toy story toys are in stores are the woody and Buzz that came out last year
Is there a way to contact Albert Chan?? Maybe he has the answers!
I wish I will try
Thinkway toys might have a successor like Hasbro or Mattel Considering They make Further Toy Story Toys and Potato Head
We are hoping for the best when Toy Story 5 comes out.
The new toys for Luck by Thinkway are available on Amazon uk
That’s really interesting thanks for sharing that information
Fun Fact:Thinkway Toys also helped make the Toys for the Minions/Despicable Me for Illumination
That’s so cool I do remember that
So no signature collection toys can be found at Target currently?
No they stopped selling them in 2020 after Toy Story 4 movie promotion ended in 2019
@@todayigrewup Bummer.. Thanks for the clarification!
You’re welcome
im gonna miss them :( they sold some of my toy story collection :( im 29 & still love toys
You’re never too old to have fun. They gave us the best Toy Story toys we could have even today.
@@todayigrewup my signature collection woody broke on the third after 10 years & i was as devastated as andy was when he ripped his arm in the second movie :( since thinkway shut down i had 2 get a new one from ebay. his voice is too deep & doesnt sound like my old one. im really disappointed & bummed out
Thinkway Toys make the best Toy Story toys, especially the signature series
Yes agreed 🤠
They just disappeared and were never heard of again 😕
They stopped making Toy Story for sure
There are diffent toy story toys companies exist(Disney store, mattel, hasbro, Takara Tomy). For me, Thinkway toy is the best.
Yes there is 🤠
Did thinkway stopped producing Toy story at 2020?
Yes
I think they clearly lost the license sometime after 2020. Maybe they are going bankrupt even today, since it’s a slow process and can take a while. Maybe they will survive this and can operate as Thinkway Toys or they will rebrand
The future will tell. I do miss them and hope we see them again one day for the Toy Story market.
@@todayigrewup Oh absolutely, their Toy Story Collection figures are insanely well made and one of the best premium quality toys that I ever saw, if not the best. Thinkway was always about quality, fun and interaction and I will surely miss that. I really hope they will return one day…
Not going bankrupt they are still making new toys
wait so thats mean...the last buzz lightyear batch in my country was complete the last and they aren't comming more?
Listen dude I don’t think thinkway toys is truly gone because they still have their website and they would terminate it and they might have moved to a new headquarters
this is so sad but true, great video!
Thanks for watching partner 🤠
When toy story five whenever it release the past Thinkwaytoys come to haunt them all will the entire company have some new employees hired and reopen all of the entire toy story community fanbase waits for the answers
Can’t wait to see what merch they come up with for Toy Story 5
Thinkway is still making new toys, they are making toys for Lasseter's latest movie Luck by Skydance Animation.
Good to know! Thanks
I was in love with their toy story toys and I'm still is. Did thinkway toys went out of business
They stopped making Toy Story since they lost the license to make them from Disney.
So sad that thinkway doesn't produce Toy story toys anymore 😓
Yes those days are over
"They have not failed to disappoint" 0:30
doesnt that mean that they're really good at disappointing?
No one is perfect but as far as my Toy Story Collection goes they haven’t disappointed me, I love my collection toys.
@@todayigrewup No yeah I agree but I think you meant to say "They have not failed to deliver" or "They never disappoint"
the way it's said here means that they are consistently disappointing haha
but yeah I get what you meant
You’re right I think I did say it wrong. My tired 2am brain. At work. Haha
@@todayigrewup No but
"Not failed to ___" means that they always do that
If I say "I never fail to lose", that means I always lose
so if it's "Never fail to disappoint", that means that they always disappoint
I did find it very weird why Thinkway Toys didn’t respond to my last email. I’m going to miss Thinkway. 😕
Yes I think they are completely done with Toy Story
They even said they won’t be making a toy story 5 rip toy story.
Maybe they might be planning something big for toy story that's hidden to the public
Maybe if Toy Story 5 comes out. We can only hope.
😢😢😢😢😢 please come back thinkway toys
Let’s hope for 2026 for Toy Story 5
im 29 & i still love it & toys
I've done a little digging in the internet through my phone and I've got some good news and bad news. The good news is that Thinkway toys are still in business, but the bad news is that they somehow lost the license to Toy Story. (Disney going down the toilet possibly) here's what I gathered.
Supongo que la recuperarán para Toystory 5
I hope they come back soon
😩
I don’t see it happening anytime soon 🥲
I found a Rocky Gibraltar Movie Accurate(The one from the 3d printer you guys showed)For 205BRL(40$)
I'll probably buy it, I just don't know when
That’s a great price!
Did thinkway dissolved?
They are no longer making toy story toys but I do believe they are still a company making other products
Probably because of bankruptcy one of there toys or one the last post they have it actually maybe because the car thingy has small parts that contains choking hazard
Yeah if they are in business they are definitely done with Toy Story
Thinkway made such Awesome Toy Story toys like Toy Story Collection/Signature Collection. 😕😟
Yes I will always cherish my thinkway toy story toys in my collection
@@todayigrewup I'm also going to Cherish my TSC/TSSC toys too, Although some of my TSC/TSSC toys are in Good Condition and Some of them are in OK Condition.
Trivia: in may of 2010 a plane crashed into thinkway toys' headquarters in markham ontario
Yeah also their prices in 2019 for signature collection went up to $89.99 it must mean the production costs really went up too.
People haven’t dealt with a tragedy like this since toys r us disappeared I think much mego corporation and Knickerbocker Those toy companies aren’t popular like Hasbro or Mattel
That’s why they weren’t popular so that’s why they disappeared
I think due to the community disappointment, maybe Mattel will make movie accurates for Toy Story 5, I mean who knows
As awesome as you are it pains me to watch this as toy story toys would be nothing without this business 🙁😞
You’re right it really wouldn’t be
Well, seems like Mattel and Hasbro will have to do toy story toys now. Especially movje sized dolls
Yes but they don’t like making movie sized toy story toys, the last Woody and Buzz they made this year were only 10 inches tall. Way too short.
@@todayigrewup Mattel used to make movie size toy story toys back in 1995 - 2015
And Hasbro did that around toy story 2 came out 2000 to 2008
Hopefully Disney can give the rights to think we toys again to make a wave five And I want to see Mrs. potato head Weezy Gabi Gabi Rocky Jubel Zirgan combat Carl
I don’t see that happening but we can only hope for the future
They passed away
First
WHAT??? They have passed away 😳😳???
@@sfgames120 no
@@sfgames120 the company
I think they are still a company they just don’t make Toy Story anymore
Always help thinkway toys by buying anything you can find in stores
Yes that’s what I always tried to do! That time is over though.. 2019 was the last time everyone should of bought the signature and other Toy Story 4 toys when they came out.
Thinkway toys come back😭😭 we want to see more toy story toys and Lightyear toys
I wish 🥲
Thinkway sadly shut down. If you Google their address it has permanently closed and is being replaced by a long term care facility.
thanks for insrping..
Thanks I try my best
Even if it means that thinkway is really gone im glad i got to get there products while i could
Yes same here
