I loved that one time where a teamfight happened on mid while I was on top lane, and has just activated ult 2nd phase because I killed their mage. I rushed to mid and saw the enemies low on hp pushing the tower with very low hp. Easiest and most satisfying maniac EVER

He has two crowd control skills but not as useful as cc fighters like minsitthar or paquito. He has sustain from his second skill but fighters like exborg, thamuz and terizila are far better choice for frontline sustain fighter pick. And after his second skill, Martis cannot survive the team fight anymore. He can’t initiate team fights and when is second is on CD, he can only do basic attacks. Buff does make him better but is not viable. He doesn’t belong in any specific fighter class. Like I said, jack of all trades master of none
Wanna know what would fix that 1 simple thing, including his chains from his hero design into is attacks by making his basic attacks aoe when he reaches full stacks of his passive and at full stacks he gets 20 percent life steal this one simple change would increase both his damage and sustain

Martis has been getting a load of buffs recently so I have been using him myself a bit but never know why he isn't that popular. I can't see any problem with the hero. I guess he's really excellent the way he is. I usually build full damage on him now and I rarely build any tank items on him because I usually find myself unable to make good use of it or play good but I'm not entirely sure about it. So maybe he can be played well with some tank items as well.
To make him meta, they should bring back his old second skill where it has a fast and longer dash, his skill 2 right now is too slow that’s why he is not that viable
@@xenon3741 Hmmm...I kept thinking if it was because of the second skill just like you mentioned like I have been feeling like it takes pretty longer for him to execute it and by that time, his enemies can pretty much outburst or do a lot more in the duration while he wouldn't be able to dish out much damage from it. Also how he may not benefit from passive much because Martis is a skill based hero could be another thing. But it's a really good passive though.
for hero that has 2 dashes in his second skill, he is too slow. He easily outclassed by masha, grock, chou, yuzhong, edith, etc. xp lane hero meta is filled by good burst damage and good sustain hero, which i think martis is incredibly bad in. The only thing that saving him from being unplayable is his cc immunity and his ult burst.
You know why he is not popular? He doesnt have a damage at late game, he is slow at late game. Most of her dis advantage is late game and most of hero are late dependent so martis has disadvantage on late game. Think he is not popular for most solo players because of his weakness when going solo he needs more speed on his second skill and a faster movement of his second skill he lacks that. He can be played well but he can't carry a whole team.
Elgin Made a Small Mistake. As you can see the enemy composition has alot of Magic users "Kadita,Baxia,Js, and Esme" And as you see his build he didn't have Athena shield or Radiant armor so that's why he gets beaten up easily.
He should sell Dominance Ice since there's no Attack Speed reliant heroes. Then, change into Radiant Armor. Antique Cuirass is great against burst type heroes so he should keep it
Me as a Martis main, I'm happy that Elgin made a video about him. He got a lot of buffs in the previous updates but he still in a 50-50 situation when it comes to teamfights (late game). Yes, he's a full package fighter because he has cc/damage/immunity but compare to those popular heroes, the damage output he can deal at most can only be seen when you used your ult properly. No need to rework, his skills are very usefull in most of teamfights, yes he got a lot of buffs and adjustments but the data and the players who're using him shows that he still having a hard time placing himself in the meta. Well for my case, he's strong when my team got a very strong front and backline, I can be aggressive whenever I want cuz that's how I want to play my Martis.
Yuzhong has everything martis has except attack speed and he’s still a much better hero. Same with the current grock a whole tank moonton doesn’t focus on buffing heroes that are out of meta they just buff populate heroes for to sell the skins

sometimes, having a slow animation for the second skill help, slower animation meaning longer cc immune and thats one of his key aspects, he can immune so mush cc 2 times. from the first phase of the 2nd skill and its second phase
I love this kind of match. I was actually at the edge of my seat. Not a one-sided match but a close one. The determining factor is the Demon Hunter Sword. It takes high IQ in games like this when your enemies are hard to kill. Good thing Elgin changed his item. Yup Martis maybe climbing up to the meta with this buff... :)
I'm a Martis main, not only I use him as exp laner but also roamer. When I play him as roam, I use Dire Hit and semi-tank build with only two defensive items depends on the enemy conposition. As roam, I build Twilight Armor as 2nd def item for true damage.
two attack items on martis is actually enough, i recommend using emblem assassin with agility 3, invasion 3, and killing spree. shoes though boots, bloodlst axe for the first atk item and the second could bod, war axe, or dhs. antique cuirass and athena shield is a must have item. remember that his second skill is cc, immune, and dmg reduction up to 60%. the point is antique cuirass and athena are demage reduction item plus the second skill it help alot.
Bloodlust trash for martis, his 2nd skill doesn't benefit much Use this build: 1. Defence shoes 2.DHS 3.Malefic roar 4. Dom ice 5. Athena 6.bladr Armor or antique cuirass

Tips for matis users:when fighting. after using second skill. Don't use it's second phrase if the enemy is not running or if you're not dying. It will basically reset the whole skill after the cooldown.
I think the Tank Meta and buffed defence items have something to do with the decline of Fighter specific heroes. Also from my experience, the least used fighters are either terrible in late game or easily ganked.

i feel this, so when i use martis i focus on breaking tower than clash hahaha late game clash he is kinda weak.... i feel like he cannot initiate unless he use tank build hehehe
give him dmg reduction when he uses his 2nd skill till the 2nd phase of 2nd skill is used or it goes on cooldown. You just rush in with 2nd skill and if anyone is able to dodge that, you are pretty much dead. And make hive him true damage on basic at 4th stack of his atk speed passive. Then there will be some use to his basic attacks in late game.

So you can now use your 1-2 skill combo then basic attack to reduce defence then use ult.

The ult needs perfect time, so the KS kings will make your life painful And the passive is pretty much perfect imo His second skill feels good in a time fight because you keep playing with the enemy and they can't do anything, it's like akai
The only thing that makes Martis a viable pick is his teamfight capabilities. His AOE CC and high burst dmg from his ult cal allow him to clean low hp and tank dmg from enemies. Though, he is pretty weak in a practical sense. He has no sustain and his basic attacks aren't able to deal enough dmg to enemies in the late game. Not to mention, his skills dmg are too slow. Meaning, an enemy can easily replenish their HP pool inbetween his skills due to how slow they are. I would suggest a revamp. One that I personally would like. Remember those chains that you see on his intro? Yes, those. His new form will make use of those. I used to pester moontoon on making Martis' passive increase his basic attack range and at max stacks, have a slight pulling effect. But, I guess they decided to use that on the new hero. So, I'll go with this then. His passive will still retain the attack speed buff but now, it will have a new effect called "Life Drain." Similar to Alice's ULT, within a range, he will suck up the life essence of any enemies and creeps nearby. This will fill up an energy bar. If this energy bar is filled, his HP regenerates based on his lost HP and enhances his dmg until the energy bar depletes. Life Drain activates upon max stacks of his passive. His first skill will get a small dash. Whenever he casts his 1st skill, he will dash right into the middle of his first skill to close the gap between him and the enemies. His 2nd skill to be faster. It's already a pretty decent skill. His ult will still be the same but, will now be a two stage process depending on the distance between him and the enemy and have more range and a CC effect. This is where I will apply the chains on his sword that you see on his intro. Within a range, if his enemies are too far, he will yeet his sword towards the target, stunning him/her for 0.8s and damaging him/her. He will then drag himself towards the target to land the finishing blow.
Gotta love the yeet part lol, although he can *literally* yeet himself to the enemy regardless of distance once he's casting his ult 0.5 sec before his marled enemy changes location (except yin cause reasons)
It's because of new heroes overloaded with shits like Paquito,Yin and Yu Zhong who has all sustain,damage,dashes with movement buffs,heal/shield,stuns/knock-ups you want on a fighter. If you had all this whats the use of using heroes such as Martis.
When I use martis, I prefer Bod and the rest is tank Items with the concussive blast emblem, I’ve used it against many meta heroes like paquito, esme and gloo and it’s effective especially lasting long in a clash is really helpful, I just use ult on a sure kill enemy
Try using demon hunter bro I think it's quite worth it since his passive is like a free inspire, when I play him I always use 1 dhs and rest are tank items
Martis really needs to have another skill dash(Initiate)/passive effect something like battle freak where he gain's movement speed and his next attack will deal an extra true damage based on 100% extra physical atk(Similar to his ult if he get's a kill and blade of hepetasis) if he's not dealing damage for 5 sec(Taking damage will not remove the effect)
The problem for martis actually is: his 2nd skill speed. I think with so many hero getting a revamp or adjustment, which is hugely benefits most of 'em, it's quite safe to bring martis original 2nd skill casting speed.

Martis is really good specifically at start of the match to the mid game but late game he cant do any thing so martis needs a big buff on his late game ability
DHS+War Axe is pretty much enough for his damage, BFBP is a really good def item for him. You can also take either Malefic, Hunter Strike or BOD as his last item since two def items is already more than enough
I like how Martis skills work. He even counter cc heroes. When it comes to ranked game, i always pick Martis for chance to use his cc skills, burst and even his anti-cc.
As an ex martis main, I would say that Elgin played Martis pretty well considering how underused he is. Though can't help but point out some mistakes he made, for starters when there's a Johnson on the enemy team I usually have my s2 ready to slam into the car so I can not only deal with the mage hiding in the car, I also protect my teammates from them. Next you can see him pressing his s2 again even though he doesn't need to, and his s2 continues to recharge if you didn't use his s2 again. Over all he plays pretty well, and the build is pretty good, would recommend martis as a hero, but he's very situational as he's not good at every situation.
Not taking anything away from eljin but eljin played with his squad it's easy to use martis if your teammates knows when and how to back up and follow up,this is thesame scenario when I had a 7 winning streak on mythic rank games using badang I was playing with my squad one of them is using tigreal and and the other one is using ruby and they are really good in setting up a teamfights which makes it easier for me to land my s2+ss combo this will give the opposing team a hard aoe cc and burst damage so the karina and moskov on my team can finish them off easily

no he won't. small buffs and adjustments aren't enough to put him on s-tier or in the meta. he can't keep up with SUSTAIN exp laners all throughout the game. it's also not an issue of "it depends on the player." you'll only win against a sustain fighter if he/she sucks at playing.
As a guy who can fucking read. No, he did not get enough buffs considering he needs to build more damage items - sacrificing the total damage multiplier for an extra damage multiplier meaning you need mlre damage items to match the damage he had before when using damage AND tank items instead. He sucks at mobility, his combos are too slow and he's only scary in team fights and early game duels. He loses too much in late game whilst having too little to contribute from then forth. And considering the tank meta right now, games do last way longer enough to let MMs and other late game heroes outclass martis. He can't be tanky and do good damage anymore, he has been nerfed. The only thing buffed is his KILL STEAL abilities.
I think the main problem with martis is his CCs are slow so it is kinda easy to escape from him. He can not use his 2nd skill effectively unless the enemy hero is very close to him .
Try adding a cresent moon on your buIld with martis, ive used martis quite a lot in the past but didn't keep up with the meta, you could go sith the standard fighter build for him and add a cresent moon on it or go full crit with him which bursts the enemies but is very squishy, also a tip when using 2nd you don't have to use the second cast every time because when it goes in to cooldown it only takes around 1 or 2sec and best to use as a way to cut off enemies when trying to escape
Tip: If you are fighting Esmeralda build Sea Healberd first. Then maximize his skill but make sure you hit Esmeralda with all of your skills for maximum Stack, Attck Speed, and Damage.
Imo It's hard to get value from his ult by getting multiple executes because he's too squishy. The one champ I could compare him with is Darius and he is very tanky unlike martis he can survive the whole teamfight so he has alot of chances to get an execute from his ult.
Martis is strong at early to mid game, but he lacks damage and sustainability especially in the late game. He is a initiator meaning he needs to get close to the enemy, but how can he get close if he's dead already. I think he needs a small stun on his first skill rather than just a slow, faster 2nd skill with lower cd. They can also add more physical attack or penetration on his passive and not just attack speed.

@@nt0027 Chou is really good when it comes to vs 1. U have to play defensive and wait for allies to help if u can't really do much against pro chou. This game is about team play after all. Good thing is that chou is only good at locking one enemy. He can't really carry the team just he can changed the tide of the battle if ur team make mistakes. But in late game he is acting more to support or sometimes even split pusher depending on the situation.
When using martis I have this habit of not using the second phase of his second skill unless needed to avoid a cc or disengaging. Its a very helpful thing if you master it.

Some players just aren't interested using other heroes because they tend to use the hero that streamers recommended and using. In fact, Martis can really stand out, his immunity to cc is much useful because most of the players in ranked game preferred to use cc heroes for easy ambush and let the damage dealers move freely, meanwhile Martis is not just immune to cc, he can also cancel some of the enemy skills so he can really do much during team fight.
Martis need late game scaling If Martis upgrade his ulti he will gain new abilities and effects First upgrade on his ulti he gain Ashura boost, each time he cast his skills his dmg will be increase by 8% and can stack up to 4 times just like his passive Second upgrade his second skill range and animation increase like the old Martis Final upgrade he gain basic attack immunity when using his second skill, this might help him a lot to counter marksman in the late game
And martis basic atk doesnt sustain crazy like aulus. If you focus on spell vamp and u dont have basic atk dmg, focus on basic atk or phys atk and u dont have spell vamp to sustain, really needs new passive or smth

They made him a mix of skill-reliant and a basic attack reliant hero at the same time, which is ridiculous. Old Martis is just better. Heavily combo reliant and with high sustain.
Just a little story: I bought Martis last week and I played him for 15 times as of now and out of that 15 games, I got 3 maniacs and a savage... So according to my experience he is really good so it kinda make me wonder why he is underrated

If people argue his mm build late game he just doesn't have the mobility to cope up with late game marksmen (cough cough, wanwan, irithel) for me personally matching against a wanwan using martis will give you eternal depression for sure. Im a martis user too. I think its better if they change its damage type from extra physical to total physical. His damage from his skill doesnt deal much. Mostly he rely from his basic attack because of its passive having attack speed.
I guess Martis is OP now after using him several times but the problem why he's still unpopular for me, is becuz of its godly KS thats pretty annoying to your teamates. Specially when your playing 5 man your teammates will have a hard time to get some kills specially to your team jungler which is an important component of the team..
Basically martis has this passive effect on his skill where he can get attack speed by casting it. Sustain damage hero, very good in mid game if you asked me, 2nd skill is pretty overpowered as well as ult. 2nd skill is immune to cc's which makes it op and 3rd skillis not affected by any def items since its true damage, its like the towers, the damage is true damage so it is not affected by any def item. Overall pretty good

As a martis main you shouldn't use your 2nd twice just one 2nd skill then 1st in order to maximize his stack coz. if you use the 2nd skill twice the cd will be 5 to 6 seconds unless using it just once the cd will be 0 to 2 seconds only... Prioritize the items that has attack speed and true damage, always gain 4 stacks and, reserve you 2nd skill to cancel any cc...
the only way i can think of martis getting to the meta is either him getting buffed to absolute absurdity or at least one of his skills getting a complete overhaul kind of like how Hilda's passive and skills got a drastic change recently

Me as a Martis main, I'm happy that Elgin made a video about him. He got a lot of buffs in the previous updates but he still in a 50-50 situation when it comes to teamfights (late game). Yes, he's a full package fighter because he has cc/damage/immunity but compare to those popular heroes, the damage output he can deal at most can only be seen when you used your ult properly. No need to rework, his skills are very usefull in most of teamfights, yes he got a lot of buffs and adjustments but the data and the players who're using him shows that he still having a hard time placing himself in the meta.
Well for my case, he's strong when my team got a very strong front and backline, I can be aggressive whenever I want cuz that's how I want to play my Martis.

I'm a Martis main, not only I use him as exp laner but also roamer. When I play him as roam, I use Dire Hit and semi-tank build with only two defensive items depends on the enemy conposition. As roam, I build Twilight Armor as 2nd def item for true damage.
That item adjustment moment was historic.
two attack items on martis is actually enough, i recommend using emblem assassin with agility 3, invasion 3, and killing spree. shoes though boots, bloodlst axe for the first atk item and the second could bod, war axe, or dhs. antique cuirass and athena shield is a must have item. remember that his second skill is cc, immune, and dmg reduction up to 60%. the point is antique cuirass and athena are demage reduction item plus the second skill it help alot.

Tips for matis users:when fighting. after using second skill. Don't use it's second phrase if the enemy is not running or if you're not dying. It will basically reset the whole skill after the cooldown.
I think the Tank Meta and buffed defence items have something to do with the decline of Fighter specific heroes. Also from my experience, the least used fighters are either terrible in late game or easily ganked.

The only thing that makes Martis a viable pick is his teamfight capabilities.
His AOE CC and high burst dmg from his ult cal allow him to clean low hp and tank dmg from enemies.
Though, he is pretty weak in a practical sense. He has no sustain and his basic attacks aren't able to deal enough dmg to enemies in the late game. Not to mention, his skills dmg are too slow. Meaning, an enemy can easily replenish their HP pool inbetween his skills due to how slow they are.
I would suggest a revamp. One that I personally would like.
Remember those chains that you see on his intro? Yes, those. His new form will make use of those. I used to pester moontoon on making Martis' passive increase his basic attack range and at max stacks, have a slight pulling effect. But, I guess they decided to use that on the new hero.
So, I'll go with this then.
His passive will still retain the attack speed buff but now, it will have a new effect called "Life Drain." Similar to Alice's ULT, within a range, he will suck up the life essence of any enemies and creeps nearby. This will fill up an energy bar. If this energy bar is filled, his HP regenerates based on his lost HP and enhances his dmg until the energy bar depletes. Life Drain activates upon max stacks of his passive.
His first skill will get a small dash. Whenever he casts his 1st skill, he will dash right into the middle of his first skill to close the gap between him and the enemies.
His 2nd skill to be faster. It's already a pretty decent skill.
His ult will still be the same but, will now be a two stage process depending on the distance between him and the enemy and have more range and a CC effect. This is where I will apply the chains on his sword that you see on his intro. Within a range, if his enemies are too far, he will yeet his sword towards the target, stunning him/her for 0.8s and damaging him/her. He will then drag himself towards the target to land the finishing blow.

The problem for martis actually is: his 2nd skill speed.
I think with so many hero getting a revamp or adjustment, which is hugely benefits most of 'em, it's quite safe to bring martis original 2nd skill casting speed.
If it's faster, then the immune duration and Damage Reduction will be reduced too.

DHS+War Axe is pretty much enough for his damage, BFBP is a really good def item for him.
You can also take either Malefic, Hunter Strike or BOD as his last item since two def items is already more than enough

I like how Martis skills work. He even counter cc heroes. When it comes to ranked game, i always pick Martis for chance to use his cc skills, burst and even his anti-cc.
As an ex martis main, I would say that Elgin played Martis pretty well considering how underused he is. Though can't help but point out some mistakes he made, for starters when there's a Johnson on the enemy team I usually have my s2 ready to slam into the car so I can not only deal with the mage hiding in the car, I also protect my teammates from them. Next you can see him pressing his s2 again even though he doesn't need to, and his s2 continues to recharge if you didn't use his s2 again.
Over all he plays pretty well, and the build is pretty good, would recommend martis as a hero, but he's very situational as he's not good at every situation.
Not taking anything away from eljin but eljin played with his squad it's easy to use martis if your teammates knows when and how to back up and follow up,this is thesame scenario when I had a 7 winning streak on mythic rank games using badang I was playing with my squad one of them is using tigreal and and the other one is using ruby and they are really good in setting up a teamfights which makes it easier for me to land my s2+ss combo this will give the opposing team a hard aoe cc and burst damage so the karina and moskov on my team can finish them off easily

No, he did not get enough buffs considering he needs to build more damage items - sacrificing the total damage multiplier for an extra damage multiplier meaning you need mlre damage items to match the damage he had before when using damage AND tank items instead.
He sucks at mobility, his combos are too slow and he's only scary in team fights and early game duels.
He loses too much in late game whilst having too little to contribute from then forth.
And considering the tank meta right now, games do last way longer enough to let MMs and other late game heroes outclass martis.
He can't be tanky and do good damage anymore, he has been nerfed.

I think the main problem with martis is his CCs are slow so it is kinda easy to escape from him. He can not use his 2nd skill effectively unless the enemy hero is very close to him .

Try adding a cresent moon on your buIld with martis, ive used martis quite a lot in the past but didn't keep up with the meta, you could go sith the standard fighter build for him and add a cresent moon on it or go full crit with him which bursts the enemies but is very squishy, also a tip when using 2nd you don't have to use the second cast every time because when it goes in to cooldown it only takes around 1 or 2sec and best to use as a way to cut off enemies when trying to escape

But in late game he is acting more to support or sometimes even split pusher depending on the situation.
When using martis I have this habit of not using the second phase of his second skill unless needed to avoid a cc or disengaging. Its a very helpful thing if you master it.
The Problem With Martis Is That He Can't Sustain Anything. Even With A Lot Of Sustain Items Like Bloodlust Or Oracle, His Kit Is Perfect For Teamfights Yet He Almost Always Dies.
Some players just aren't interested using other heroes because they tend to use the hero that streamers recommended and using. In fact, Martis can really stand out, his immunity to cc is much useful because most of the players in ranked game preferred to use cc heroes for easy ambush and let the damage dealers move freely, meanwhile Martis is not just immune to cc, he can also cancel some of the enemy skills so he can really do much during team fight.
I personally see him very fit as a tank. Pretty annoying I'll say, and very effective when I use it

As a martis main you shouldn't use your 2nd twice just one 2nd skill then 1st in order to maximize his stack coz. if you use the 2nd skill twice the cd will be 5 to 6 seconds unless using it just once the cd will be 0 to 2 seconds only... Prioritize the items that has attack speed and true damage, always gain 4 stacks and, reserve you 2nd skill to cancel any cc...
the only way i can think of martis getting to the meta is either him getting buffed to absolute absurdity or at least one of his skills getting a complete overhaul kind of like how Hilda's passive and skills got a drastic change recently
