- Learn how to do the German twisted cast on, also known as the old Norwegian cast on or elastic long tail cast on. This CO method has a little more elasticity than the standard long tail CO making it a good CO for top-down socks or any ribbed cuff.

Just purchased this sock pattern, will start it soon.
I also love this cast on. But I change the motion of the thumb a little so it's much easier to go through the loop. Rather than trying to pass through the tiny hole I twist the thumb down back and up again counter-clockwise to open the loop.The motion is so much more fluent that way and it doesn't change anything on the cast-on stitches themselves.
