Nice one! This does sound similar to some of the BCC (Black Country Communion) material too, which is another fantastic blend of UK west Midlands metal with traditional blues. Great piece of music.
@@FluxDiablo Closest thing that comes to my mind is some of the tracks off John Paul Jones "Zooma" from 1999, funnily enough around the same time The White Stripes dropped thier debut. Check out "Nosumi Blues" if you haven't heard it, It's sublime.
I could see this working perfectly in a Rob Zombie movie while somebody is rolling up on someone else’s house, this playing in their ride WAAY HEAVY!!! ✌🏻💙🎶
There's some slide (a little bit) in More Human Than Human , so no wonder Zombie comes to mind right away. There could be more, for sure. Once one notices something, one may start finding it everywhere when it was overlooked before. Whatever some sound is named or declared, this here is good stuff anyway.
@@michaeljarvis5489very true. Since I got my shovel guitar and started playing I notice slide in songs I’ve listened to for years and never knew it was in there. ✌🏻❤️🎶
I saw the title and thought, "WTF?". But, whatever comes from Justin's fingers is magic and hits the gut - just right. BIG thanks to the boys in the band - that synth worked perfectly in this context and the bass and drums, right on point.
For the sweet love of mercy, you MUST do a full album of this! And if you want a vocalist, get Nathan James from Inglorious and Iconic. He would be perfect for this kind of music.
@@joshuawills5242 I'm often dubious when people mention listening to stuff at higher speeds. But on this occasion i'll hold my hands up & stand corrected. It does sound pretty damn good at 1.5x lol😂
People always said it was weird that I love old country and metal. Never really cared what they said or thought but the older I get the more I realize there's a lot of other people out there that just love good music 🤘💀🤘
Thank you Justin ........just what I needed to hear... I feel like I'm in the SWAMP today, it's damn near a 101, & I am sweating like a beaver trying to build me a damn.... But you've got me all relaxed now, and putting all that hard work aside to just chillax, finally got off my feet and listened to your jam..... Your tunes keep the spirit of the "down south blues alive", I'll hang out at the SWAMP anytime your around....keep up your jams, thank you, I am a great great fan.......
I'm in Berlin now, second day of stoner Desertfestival. This performance would have a place here - southern blues meets heavy brittish rock from Birm Sabbath
My fave metal band is very, very bluesy, they are called Eyehategod. They also have a heavy punk element, but when they aren’t bashing out a fast paced punk flavored turnaround they are churning slow, nasty, Sabbathian blues riffs from hell. They’re from New Orleans as well, true delta territory! 🤘
And boom. There it is. A new sound. I really think the inclusion of keys in the arrangement is what sets this off. You've got something unique here. I hope to hear more!
This reminds me of LILY OF THE VALLEY , makes me feel like it's 2020 again , that was a good year for getting sloshed while listening to your songs like son of a witch, while my guitar gently weeps, blood moon, tennesee whiskey, etc thanks for another great one to add to my favorites, this year has been a great run so far.
You made exactly what I’ve been hearing in my head for years come alive. My favorite guitarist bringing metal back to its humble blues roots. Thank you Justin!!!
Metal + blues = perfection. I felt a lot of heavier grooves and ideas in previous tracks (I also did a "heavy" drum cover of Quicksilver if you wanna check it out;) and it feels like it all comes together perfectly in this tune, it's the sound I've been wanting to hear for a long time but couldn't because I'm not nearly good enough at guitar to create it ahahaha. Can't wait to hear more tracks in this style, even a whole record, or two, or even some more!
I put my stamp on that. Nobody ever heard old holler boys playing Old Time, didn't hear the metal in it. I've listened to pickers all over the Deep South, and it's easy to see why folks went for bands from Skynrd to Sabbath, down here. But Grandpa still has all the tricks, y'all.
Sooooo good! I love metal, I love the blues, and I love listening to you,Justin Johnson!!! Big fan! You and Stevie Ray Vaughn are my favorite blues guitarists!!! 🥰🎸🤘
So incredibly good. My favorite thing you have done honestly! The talent in finding the unique and molding it into something flat out perfect is on full display. Props to you! Great great work!!
This is Gators in the Swamp ! U did a video 3 yrs ago.Evidently different after the band kicks in but still , Gators in the Swamp ! Great music, keep rollin' on, Justin.
i guess that answers the 'but does it djent' question. metal blues slide shredding? i'm here for it. love it. would love to hear more of this on the mavis mule. dream guitar right there.
Ah yeah. Would love to know more about the band you jam with - the drums and bass are on point with this one. That's not to say they aren't always on point, because they are.
Justin, did you meet the devil at the crossroads and make the deal to dance across the fretboard so effortlessly that it tickles one's eardrums magically!?!?
Black Sabbath if they came from Birmingham, Alabama rather than Birmingham, England.
😂😂😂

Metal and blues really need to come together more often. All the right pieces are there for amazing stuff.
They are always together, bro.
@@savin2807 well.they do a shit job of acting like it
@@savin2807 Definitely rooted, but putting blues on display like this in metal is not done as often as it should be (handful of exceptions out there)
Stoner Metal is usually pretty blues-heavy, always a good way to go :D
This be *Modern* blues. It might not sound traditional, but it’s another Monday in *The Brotherhood of Pain.*
Definitely getting “When The Levee Breaks” vibes. Very cool!
MORE, give me MORE . My two favorite types of music together. So coooooool . All of Justin’s music is over the top. So glad I found him music .
Yeah, this is the sound we so crave for. Please make an Johnson Metal Delta Blues album!
I second this motion for a Metal Delta album!! \m/ \m/
Hell yeah me thrice it down
All in favor?
AYE
There, the “ayes” have it, the motion carries. The album must now commence forthwith.
I would love to hear a metal band play during a blackout using resonator instruments. The show must go on.
I mean, the blues is one of the reasons why metal exists, so... I loved this.
Dark Country approach... awesome tone!!!
Being both a metal head and into delta blues, this is the bomb! Would love to hear more of this heavy sound.
can't let that heavy metal sound disappear it must make a big comeback. and better.
Yessss, both of my favorite music styles combined

@@LoneWolf-McWeed *Lynyrd Skynyrd*
Love this heavy Southern metal!! Awesome
The fact that the guitar is barely distorted and still got that metal tone is proof enough that you dont always need to have the gain at max
Wow this is just amazing, have not heard anything like this from Justin can't believe the sound coming from the resonator.
Can't get enough of this track. it's the perfect mix of Delta blues and metal. If you make a whole album like this it would sell
I don't know how you would call this genre but it is absolutely gorgeous. Please keep it up, cannot wait for another drop of something alike 🤩
I guess it'd be Delta Metal.
I think this qualifies as swamp metal
This the light end of the stoner/sludge metal vibe.
Cool AF Rock? You know, the thing with heavy blues influences that was the father of metal?
primus esque at points, the riff progression reminds me of "Shake Hands with Beef" or "My Name is Mudd"
Stoner rockish more to my ear rather than metal, but you're still an icon Justin. Beautifully played - well done.
Yeah very CLUTCH sounding.
Perhaps you should call it 'where the desert meets the swamp' haha
Robin Trower...
Play it at 1.5x speed, definitely closer to metal for most of it. Enjoyable no matter the genre and playback speed though X)

This tune and sound is so addictive that I don't have the words. I'm both a metal head and a blues man, and this nourishes what's left of my soul.
we did it, we've done a full circle: first we evolved blues into metal and now we made a metalized version of a blues song, marvelous

Music from the Hideout. Never disappoints!
Love the drummer. Deep grove that even I couldn’t fall out of. I never thought I was a metal fan. But if this is metal, I’m a metal fan.
