Myself and James (Chipsturs) had a chat. The majority of the content we cover has been around for years online, and we just do our own takes on information we gather from research. Nobody is copying anyone else, and we'd prefer it if you just sat back and enjoyed the videos.
I found this channel after not watching it for around 4 years and that intro gave me heavy nostalgia. Even though I haven’t heard it in years, I found myself saying it along with the video.
You forgot to mention the animal crossing reference before it was released. When you collect a statue of a white dog with a guitar that resembles brian griffin titled Totaka k.k. and if you look at what game he is in it seas to be released. The white dog is actually k.k. slider from animal crossing released the following year of melees release.
I used to play this game so much as a child. I literally found most of these easter eggs by accident. If only I could relive those memories...almost puts a tear in my eye. Thanks Chipsturs. :)
this game seriously used to scare the shit out of me! it traumatised my childhood! Yet I have no regrets :P I think even now I get just a little scared when I play D:
Does anyone know anything about Story 5 Meeting playing at the Great Temple when you play as Link and fight Marth? As a little kid I remember playing on that stage a lot as Link fighting Marth, and sometimes that song would play.
Not on my version but don't worried some people have the same as you. The people that have the third eye on daisy is just that their game is little glitchy. Glad my isn't like that
Differences in Brawl: 4:17 The camera does not go far enough to be able to see the sign. The only was to see it is to use cheat codes to hack the camera or to use the Devil assist trophy to make the camera go far enough to the right. 6:23 It is now done by repetitively pressing the down taunt button. It also works on Lylat Cruise. Wolf can also do this, but only on Lylat Cruise. 7:05 There's something similar to this. A black DS lite can be found in one of the backgrounds in trophy hoard.
I've had this game for a while and never actually played it, but two nights ago I had friends over for dinner and they brought their 3 young daughters with them so for entertainment, they wanted to play Super Smash Bros Melee :) it was actually quite enjoyable to watch them play and I think I may pick it up and give it a go soon. another great episode James :)
You forgot to mention at 7:20 that the other consoles are viewable when you switch the games language to Japanese in the options menu, then go to the trophy table
I just wanted to say thanks to you. You are one of the admittedly small group of people that I have subscribed to and keep coming back to. And yeah, I just wanted to thank you for making enjoyable content for you viewers. I think I speak on behalf of all you subscribers.
Hey Chipstur, I just wanted to say I'm glad you and the new Easter Egg show on DYKG aren't having any silly conflicts. While the shows are similar, I see way too many people arguing that someone can't do something just because someone else had done it. It's always nice to get a different look at something even if that something is the same thing. Keep up what you're doing man.
Both, Daisy's third eye, and playing as the Master Hand, are glitches, not easter eggs.Purposeless programming errors from the developers during the making of the game, so shut up with that already. Easter eggs are made intentionally, glitches are the complete opposite.
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion. So good luck. My favorite is Brawlcuz of the music, stages, and roster. And he forgot the Master hand Easter egg where u were able to play as master hand and when the game ends it freezes...
One of my favorite things in Melee, although it might not be an easter egg, is Luigi's taunt. If an enemy is hanging onto a ledge and Luigi uses his taunt right on top of them, it kicks them straight down.
this game was just amazing, i got this game along with another gamecube controller for christmas, i think around 02'? but geez, countless fights, laughs, awesome memories
In case it wasn't mentioned yet, the secret Star fox taunts are actually done by pressing down on the d pad for one frame. It just seems easier to activate it by pressing left and right quickly because you'll then accidentally input the one frame button press.
Well, remember that it IS the logo for the Super Smash Bros. series. AND Sakurai has actually said that he planned for final smashes to be in the original Super Smash Bros. for the N64. BUT he couldn't implement them due to the consoles limitations. So it COULD be an Easter egg, foreshadowing the Smash Ball, in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. But it's probably just the logo of the series.
This is kind of small, but because Pichu's attacks hurt himself, when he uses his down B, when the lightning hits him, his eyes turn into tearing eyes.
Not really an easter egg but a built in mechanic, although some people might not know; Also in the mushroom kingdom level, you can enter the pipes to transport you to the otherwise. However, sometimes you will come out of the pipe located in the middle of the pit. Act quickly!
good job, you found a lot of them, but you missed the most important one! If you go into versus mode and pick your characters normally, you can hold (B) to escape. If you click on the name selection right before this, you will unlock the easter egg. If you have done it correctly, you will go to the stage selection screen. when you pick a stage, everyone else spawns normally, but you turn into MASTER HAND. Also, do this with 4 people on a team and you will all spawn as the same color.
One time, I told somebody that Melee had a censored trophy that said that Sheik was created when Zelda used magic to turn herself into a guy, and this guy told me that trophies weren't introduced into Super Smash Brothers until Brawl. Shows that he's never played Melee.
If you pause the game while master hand is entering, it will change the sequence. You can play as masterhand in vs mode by using two controllers. P1 selects a player and P2 goes to the name changer. Simultaneously, P1 presses start and P2 presses back. (Been a while, might have one of the buttons wrong)
Nice! Also, in the Japanese version of this game, when you collect the "Daisy" trophy, and zoom in on the back of her head. You can find a third eye behind her head.
Another easter egg is on Event 39 Jigglypuff Live. If Jigglypuff uses Sing while the jumbo screen is zoomed in on it, all of the other Jigglypuff fall asleep and for an unusually long period of time no matter where they are on the stage. This is also Event 39 because 39 is Jigglypuff's National Pokédex number.
Very cool episode! Got bit confused earlier when Did You Know Gaming started their 'easter egg hunting' series. Naturally your videos are way better than theirs.
Admittedly, it is pretty cool hearing Fox and Falco in Japanese. Also, in the sound test if you have it switched to Japanese, one of Fox's samples is him saying "Ki ni tsuruna yo, Faruko." (Don't let it get you down, Falco.) I'm sorry if somebody already mentioned this one, as I haven't bothered to scroll through the comments.
Sometimes if I'm doing something for the first time while smelling a strong scent that thing is forever stuck with that scent. So now whenever I see one of your videos I'm reminded of cooked ramen noodles.
The Goldeneye Proximity Mine is known as "Top Secret" because Nintendo had no rights to anything James Bond and therefore couldn't put "Goldeneye 007" as the name, so instead it replaced the Perfect Dark mine with the Goldeneye's proximity mine and named it "Top Secret" but can easily be told that it is Goldeneye related.
On the proximity mine, in Japan, it says a Perfect Dark is the game of origin. Rare, however, got bought out by Microsoft and Nintendo couldn't get the rights in America anymore, so Top Secret is not a Goldeneye reference.
Everyone already knows this but if you hold down the left trigger when selecting a stage, you will get alternate music. Also if you Play adventure mode on normal or above and beat it at a certain time, you will fight Giga Bowser, after defeating him you get his trophy. Same thing with classic mode but instead its master and crazy hand
You forgot 2 easter eggs that I can think of right now! If you unlocked the Daisy trophy in her back behind the right side of her hair, you can see a 3rd eye! Also you forgot the Master Hand glitch where you can play as Master Hand, This glitch requires two players in ''Melee'' mode. One of the players must connect their controller into the third port and play as Player 3. Player 3 must select "New Name Entry" selection in the nickname menu in the character selection screen, while Player 1 selects "Back" button. Both players must select their option at the same time, and if done correctly, the players should be taken to the Level Select screen. In any stage players choose, Player 3 will be Master Hand. Player 3 will not be able to freely move about, but they will be able to use their moves. Using the laser move will permanently shoot lasers out of Master Hand's fingers. The game will freeze on occasion though.
I think #3 is actually because Rareware made the Goldeneye 007, but because Microsoft bought Rareware, they couldn't show the name. So they wrote TOP SECRET as a hint of to what it is, and because it truly is "TOP SECRET".
I don't know about that. The menu music is awfully repetitive. I like the flare of SSB64's music. It's not trying to take itself too seriously and it never gets annoying.
No, I mean it wasn't made to be "intense" or "serious". It had a more casual feeling which I think is more in line with Smash Bros. than the current direction of the franchise.
Nintendo should totally incorporate a trophy/achievement system for Wii U like they do in Smash Bros. Meaning each achievement nets you a physical trophy, and you can view your collection individually or all together like in Melee/Brawl.
Maybe it's because us British put a lot of influencing tone on our narration, not just a "this is Mario Sunshine" tone. It gives the spoke narration more character than just a mono tone ramble!
i was wondering were you over doing the trophy easter eggs of this game ... however, the last easter egg was awsome!!!x-D so worth mentioning them all:-) nice and interesting
I haven't watched this video in years and i'm not even sure i mentioned that at the time. but that 3rd eye is rather creepy even if it was a mistake. :D
From what I've heard, it's more because Nintendo no longer had the license to anything related to the 007 franchise. Which would explain why it still looks like the proximity mine from the N64 Goldeneye007 game, because Nintendo still owned that material. Kind of how they were able to re-release Diddy Kong Racing on the DS (with proper alterations), because it's still their property.
The proximity mine in the Japanese edition is actually the censor mines from perfect dark, but when melee was brought to the United States, they changed it.
You can get the mario and yoshis statchue in the US and pal version if you have super mario sunshine on the same memory card you can get it. I learned that from the super mario sunshine guide book
I barely subscribed to you the other day, and I saw your video. Then I saw Chipsturs video, and I thought it was awesome. I guess it was a coincidence?
There is also the reflection off of multiple trophies showing Osohe Castle from what was known in the late 90s as Earthbound 64 but was later scrapped, until HAL and Brownie Brown released it in 2006 as Mother 3 in Japan only, and was featured in Brawl with Lucas and his stages, trophies, etc. other trophies with interesting reflections are the Ayumi Tachibana trophy, that has a heavily embossed cat's face, and the Fire Kirby trophy that has an inverted baby face. There is also a hidden rice ball in the Onett stage inside a vase in front of the drug store, which is also present in brawl, only seeable using a hacked camera. For more hidden melee stuff see: tcrf.net/Super_Smash_Bros._Melee
I noticed that you got the PAL version since the Motion-Sensor-Bomb is called Proximity-Mine for you. In Japan it's actually the bomb from Perfect Dark.
There was a weird thing that happened to me on the stage big blue. The original music didn't play instead a 8 bit or 16 bit song played. I was Captain Falcon, and fighting Pichu, donkey Kong, and falco. I never knew if this was a Easter egg or a glitch.
I believe the proximity mine is referencing Perfect Dark (since it mentions Carrington) but as that was the spiritual successor to Goldeneye; it's pretty close anyway.
the daisy trophy has a third eye on the neck and the trophy room is different in the japanese version with japenese consoles. the sound test mode contains a few unused sounds from the announcer. the alternate character colors pay tribute to other characters, for example yellow mario looking like wario and yellow ness looking like a bee.
In the Earthbound stage, if you look in the background then you can find the meteor and Ness's house along with other things. This is pretty noticeable, though, so I'm not sure if it's classified as an easter egg.
5:29 2L84ME is probably a reference of Dixie kong not being added. Please note I have no idea if this is true or if Dixie kong was supposed to be added.
There is a bug/easter egg (it's very strange) I know: Put your cursor on the name selection icon, Press the A and the B buttons at the same time and, perhaps after a few times, you'll be able to play as Master Hand! It's true! One of my friends did it!
There's a master hand Easter egg that you can play as the huge hand... Plug your controller into the controller port 3 (only works in port 3) go to vs mode move your Cursor over the insert name box press b and a at the same time then peed a instantly it should bring you to the level select play any level as the hand
Did you know that in the early versions of Super Smash Bros. Melee On the Daisy trophy that when you turn her and look through her hair you can find a 3rd eye? I know its more of a glitch then an Easter egg, but its still fun to find XD
You forgot to mention that if you change the game's language to Japanese, the background items on the trophy room change for their japanese counterparts. For example, the NES changes for the Famicom, the SNES changes for the Super Famicom, etc.
Myself and James (Chipsturs) had a chat. The majority of the content we cover has been around for years online, and we just do our own takes on information we gather from research. Nobody is copying anyone else, and we'd prefer it if you just sat back and enjoyed the videos.

What about daisy's trophy's little flaw...
The eye is watching you
It was a glitch, it was fixed in later copies/releases. Glitches do not equal Easter Eggs
+Saiyan Gaming (s)he did not say it was an easteregg (s)he said it was a flaw

Dosent locks weird for me
Looks a wee bit like one of its earlier sprites.
It’s the old mew not the newer mew
Yes
I see waluigi...
I've seen the old Mew Sprite but this just looks like a normal Mew. Am I missing something?

this game seriously used to scare the shit out of me! it traumatised my childhood!

I think even now I get just a little scared when I play D:
How come?
Oh fuck, did I comment on the wrong video! I meant luigis mansion :P
Dominic Whiteley ........how does that even happen?
I think that at the time youtube had fucked up commenting while using a playlist.
Weird mistake, but so true! Luigi just humming that menacing theme, looking at the scenery, staying up until 1 am.. D: still was fun to play though
Does anyone know anything about Story 5 Meeting playing at the Great Temple when you play as Link and fight Marth? As a little kid I remember playing on that stage a lot as Link fighting Marth, and sometimes that song would play.

not on my version

You forgot about Daisy's third eye
Ah this takes me back, I watched this guy before I ever had a UA-cam channel, and I watched him all the time back then.

the daisy trophy has a third eye on the neck and the trophy room is different in the japanese version with japenese consoles. the sound test mode contains a few unused sounds from the announcer. the alternate character colors pay tribute to other characters, for example yellow mario looking like wario and yellow ness looking like a bee.
TEEH I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!
Keep up the great work!
Thanks a million friend :D
In the room you missed 2 things: Near the N64 there was a Super Smash Bros box, and the curtains have the smash ball.
6:55 I'M SLIPPY FROG AND I'M FINE!
like the Apollo Justice reference?
so nostalgic
In the Earthbound stage, if you look in the background then you can find the meteor and Ness's house along with other things. This is pretty noticeable, though, so I'm not sure if it's classified as an easter egg.
You are the best easter egg hunter ever! keep up the good work!
This is the way things should be. Far better for us to lift each other up then bring us all down. Kudos to you guys bring such positivity to UA-cam.
You can rearrange the trophies in your collection by holding a certain button before going into the trophy room
Another great episode! Keep up the eggs man! :)
Your channel is growing so fast!
Hey, I realized something in the trophy room. The painting is the smash ball from the series! :D
You forgot to mention that if you change the game's language to Japanese, the background items on the trophy room change for their japanese counterparts. For example, the NES changes for the Famicom, the SNES changes for the Super Famicom, etc.
The reason why the Proximity Mine was under "TOP SECRET" was because Nintendo didn't have any licensing to Golden Eye
Metal Mario was originally a power-up for mario in Mario 64, he wasn't a rival of Mario. I think you may have confused Metal Mario with Metal Sonic
