    Wow you two had a great haul. Thanks for sharing the bottles and experiences. I wish I could have went this year but it wasn’t in the cards for me. Hopefully 2025 will be my first year bc it sounds like an amazing place to visit. Thanks for sharing!

      Yes, we hope you get the chance to go next year!! What a great experience! Even if you don't buy a single bottle, there were so many pours to try!

    Great Video and haul!! My wife and I met you on Friday in line waiting to get in. Thanks for the nice conversation. We stood in the Heaven Hill line Friday and Saturday and got lucky enough to get two bottles of Old Fitz 13 and Heaven Hill 18 (Parkers Heritage sold out about 50 people in front of us). That was brutal but I really wanted the bottles. The festival was fun and like you said there was so much to try it was sometimes difficult to pick what to buy

      It was great meeting you both!!! I am so glad when people stop and talk to us and have watched our little channel. We just love nerding out with other whiskey geeks!! We are all a different breed of fans. lol We hope to be back again next year!

    I live in Kentucky and have been drinking Bourbon for 30 years. I really like your channel and your videos. Good luck to you guys. By the way, I'm actually from Rockcastle Co. I ended up with a few of the bottles of Rockcastle from the 1rst and 2nd series. It's actually really good whiskey. Many people were late to the game on that one. I used to find them on shelves all the time. Seems many more people are knowing about it now. It's getting harder to find. I don't have the bottle you guys got. I'll have to pick that one up. I'm not big on finishes, but I like them when they're done right.

      The Rockcastle we got were festival picks only, I believe...don't quote me on that. It is delicious!

    I think Tipsy sells that 15 Stars First West for $90. I might need to snag it! Nice haul!

      I think you are correct! I know Tipsy has a lot of the 15 Stars but this was our first time trying it! Can't wait to try more expressions, for sure!

    I haven't seen that Milam and Geene bottle. I think I'd really like to try that one. From my experience, I think women are excellent tasters and fantastic blenders. I don't know if their sense of smell is just better or what, but in my experience, if you find a whiskey that women find pleasing, it's always good. Bourbon, Scotch, whatever..if a woman is doing it and they honestly think it's great, it will almost always be great.

      My wife would agree with you, for sure! ;-) We have a good friend, his wife has an excellent nose and we often wait for her suggestions on new bottles!

    To be called Bottled In Bond, it must be 100 proof. Cask strength bourbons are almost always over 110 proof and can get well into the 130s.

      Yes, true, here is the current CFR:
      www.ecfr.gov/current/title-27/chapter-I/subchapter-A/part-5/subpart-F/section-5.88
      § 5.88 Bottled in bond.
      (a) The term “bond,” “bonded,” “bottled in bond,” or “aged in bond,” or phrases containing these or synonymous terms, may be used (including as part of the brand name) only if the distilled spirits are:
      (1) Composed of the same kind (type, if one is applicable to the spirits, otherwise class) of spirits distilled from the same class of materials;
      (2) Distilled in the same distilling season (as defined in § 5.1) by the same distiller at the same distillery.
      (3) Stored for at least 4 years in wooden containers wherein the spirits have been in contact with the wood surface, except for vodka, which must be stored for at least 4 years in wooden containers coated or lined with paraffin or other substance which will preclude contact of the spirits with the wood surface, and except for gin, which must be stored in paraffin-lined or unlined wooden containers for at least 4 years;
      (4) Unaltered from their original condition or character by the addition or subtraction of any substance other than by filtration, chill proofing, or other physical treatments (which do not involve the addition of any substance which will remain in the finished product or result in a change in class or type);
      (5) Reduced in proof by the addition of only pure water to 50 percent alcohol by volume (100 degrees of proof); and
      (6) Bottled at 50 percent alcohol by volume (100 degrees of proof).
      (b) Imported spirits labeled as “bottled in bond” or other synonymous term described above must be manufactured in accordance with paragraphs (a)(1) through (6) of this section and may only be so labeled if the laws and regulations of the country in which the spirits are manufactured authorize the bottling of spirits in bond and require or specifically authorize such spirits to be so labeled. The “bottled in bond” or synonymous statement must be immediately followed, in the same font and type size, by the name of the country under whose laws and regulations such distilled spirits were so bottled.
      (c) Domestically manufactured spirits labeled as “bottled in bond” or with some other synonymous statement must bear the real name of the distillery or the trade name under which the distiller distilled and warehoused the spirits, and the number of the distilled spirits plant in which distilled, and the number of the distilled spirits plant in which bottled. The label may also bear the name or trade name of the bottler.

    Did you stay for the third day? Curious if it’s worth staying in town for the last day of the festival.

    • @chasingneat
      @chasingneat  Місяць тому

      We did stay, however, we didn't actually go into the festival. We used that day to go visit a few distilleries where we were able to get hard to get bottles, so I'd say yes, stay the 3rd, if not just to do that. I have heard too that the 3rd day is not as busy so might be a better pace for your preference.
