LOL! Great stuff as always, and love your sense of humor. "2 things that are Black kryptonite..." By the way, when is that Tan Tan review coming out from your buddy's feedback?
This seems to happen to me EVERY year. Cycling brands love to increase their marketing during the holidays, so I get overloaded with products to test during this time. However, the holiday season here in Chicago means cold and snowy weather. Not ideal conditions to test cycling stuff outdoors. Expect a follow up on that Tan Tan bike in the early spring.
Jz as i was about to lock my wish list on elite drive, another contender comes along. Will be waiting for the follow up till spring! And btw, Happy New Year Man!!
My prediction for the spring is these wheels will marginally beat out the Elite Drives, mainly because of the ratchet hub design versus Elite's 4 pawl design. DT Swiss-styled hubs are very easy to maintain and you can upgrade the ratchet engagement. With that said, Elite Wheel's latest Velo Six wheels are hilarious awesome. Obviously a totally different wheel than a set of climbing wheels but they are a huge flex out on the road.
It seems that the included bag also helps with smaller form packaging too. Strange more brands at this price don't include bags, or at least the option for one.
Very interesting review 👍. I can't wait to see what's coming next. Happy new year Patrick, whish you and your owns the best for 2024 (health above all). Simon.
I haven't tested the CRW 40-45. Only the 50/60. Quite frankly those are on another level. However, the price point reflects that. These are very similar to Elite Drive wheels.
Man you did not say that ie the first kryptonite. Heard that specifically said of Caribbean men. Nice looking wheels. I see they also have a cheaper carbon spokes option for about 800 (36T ratchet). Have come to the conclusion light weight is best especially for windy areas and also areas where there are many stops and starts (eg traffic lights). Would have seriously conisdered these but I just ordered what is essentially Elite Drive 40D (1260 grams +-30)
Oh boy do I have a story about my Giant Propel. It's not looking good for the brand. Waiting to see how they make things right before I drop a bomb of a video.
Nepest has to put more info on their web-site, I mean I am looking at it now and can’t tell the difference between Maui, Speedn, Aim and the others. Is it only the looks?
@@tonyg3091 From Nepest: "the 3 series are using same hubs and spokes ,and the difference is from the rims. The MAUI series using paintless ultra light rims and the wheels are 50g lighter than the other 2 series (Speedn & Aim). The Speedn and Aim are only diffrent from the rims finish and logos design. So they are in same weight."
As always, your insights are keen, and your thinking is spot on. As the mega-tons of molecules flow from China to our shelves, the billions of dollars flow from our wallets to the coffers of the Chinese Communist Party which is building the largest military, and the greatest global industrial network the world has ever seen. They finance their reachable goal of global conquest by our addiction to bargains. I’d rather have a country than a bargain. Let’s derail our default demise by practicing pocketbook patriotism. Let’s purchase things made anywhere but China, and when possible, made in the USA. All the best.

Looks liike a great overall wheelset. Like how they are packaged too. Not many wheelsets come with spares, valves, rim tape and bags. Nice touch.

nice! I got the same wheel will do unboxing video soon!
Send pics to my IG once installed on your bike!
Thanks, man. Always love your reviews.

Thank you so much! It's a shame that 12 hours after I filmed this, it started snowing here in Chicago. Good timing I guess haha
Thanks for the review! How do you compare this ones with the craft CRW 40-45 wheelset? Which one will you choose?

@@PatrickLino thanks for the answer! I'm pulling the trigger on the CRW 40-45 coming out of the roval clx 50 disc, hope that's an upgrade
Another great video!
Man I really appreciate that. Thank you!

Shouldn't you be having snow? Some seriously nice light weight wheels... thanks for the great video!
Literally starting snowing 12 hours after I filmed this 😭
would love to see these wheels paired up with giant propel..anyway good video like always.

What is the LIGHTEST set of wheels you've ever used? Let me know down below.
My Lego wheels.
@@Hambini Heeeey BIG BOY!
I have ridden 1350g xc mountain bike wheels. Lightest I've personally seen is 1150g.
@@Speedy.V crazy light for an MTB wheel!
@@PatrickLino yeah. It's crazy how light it was. Berd spokes, duke rim, and Extralight hubs.

I feel that the "high-end" Chinese carbon wheel space is becoming over saturated but their attention to detail is commendable.
What is considered high-end Chinese carbon wheels? Because there are a few Chinese brands with wheels more significantly expensive than these.
