Hi Ashley, I watch a lot of your videos and I’m currently halfway through listening to your podcast from the beginning 😁 thanks for all the advice, I’ve just bought this exact pole and a big boy backpack and di vessel to start window cleaning on the weekends and hopefully to transition into doing it full time. Thanks again for all the quality advice, you’re one of the people who have inspired me to start this journey!!
Hi Ashley great video as always A lot of my window cleaning mates swear by this pole . With me it’s a weight issue so I use an 18 SLX and an 18 xtreme as my mainpole then use an xtreme25+ extension for anything else it seems to work out at about 80% to 20% so it saves me a lot of energy in the long run the xtreme 18 it’s very expensive but it soon makes its money back matched with 35 cm brushes Swivel and univalves.Withwindow cleaning you’re absolutely right it’s about getting a balance that you’re happy with. I love people like you who are prepared to share your knowledge with us I’ve been window cleaning for 41 years plus and I’m still learning from people like you so keep up the good work thanks
I've used an SLX - 27 since 2017. Fed up of clamps slipping so this year cut off clamps and replaced with the Facelift Phantom clamps and it's extended lifespan of pole for years to come. Added SLX extension #8 so a 30ft+ pole. Got a phantom 18ft with big boy backpack bundle last year and it introduced me to the best clamps on the market. Bought 2 extension sections so have a 25ft phantom for everyday residential work. Love the SLX and the phantom and the Facelift clamps are amazing. No adjustments needed in 18 months on phantom pole or this year with the SLX with facelift clamps. And NO MORE black hands from worn carbon dust! 👌👍
Hi Ashley, I've been using the Gardiner SLX-28 with a two piece extension that takes out to 35ft. I've used it for 5 years and it's such a great pole. So reliable and as you said, a good rigid pole. As long as you keep the clamps set at the right tightness, they work really well. Thanks for the review.
I got Gardiner 3K HM Super-Max-27, 100% HM 3K Carbon Pole It has a great rigidity all Gardiner accessories are great with Control Bars specially in High buildings and telescopy gooseneck are very helpful and you are right the Clamps are very good thank you Ashley
Hi Michael thinking of switching to one very soon as have a phantom with a horse hair and fan jets that a great. But need a lighter pole as mine a bit heavy!!
Being using gardiner now for about 8 or 9 years. I use 22 slx for everyday. Also got the 4ft clx for bungalows. But I've also got a monster 45slx for large. That is a monster height for any pole. But going back to reports of quality isn't as good.........I would have to agree. I purchased a 22slx back in feb/March. Already worn on top two sections. I may go over to ova8 next year. As the clamps do need to change. But I know that the phantom clamps fit on gardiner. Great video mate. Keep up the good work 💪
Sounds good. Thanks for your comments. The Ova8 has slightly more flex but love the oval shape. The Phantom has great clamps, but the Gardiner just has so many accessories! It’s a tough choice.👍🏼
Great pole. I use both the newer ova8s for glass and my older slx poles for gutter and fascia cleaning, they have never let me down. I do find the oval shape of the ova8 poles as they wear get slightly annoying. When the poles are to be renewed again i can probably say i will get slx again.
The clamps are even more suited for a lefty, Flicking them open and closed is so easy with your right hand, I up graded from Phoenix to gardener and the differences night and day 💪🏼
One more question . I bought a soft gardiner flocked brush. After cleaning the panels I noticed a few dark spots on the panel (seems like burnout ) I don’t k ow if the brush caused it or it was there before . Have you had any experience in this ?
Seriously considering getting this slx carbon.....i must admit i use the 27fter poles all day as they do everything from residential to commercial with no reach issues. Do you use the extender no.7 at all?? Was thinking of adding it when i purchase. My first Gardiner....very excited and cheers Andrew
Great channel Ashley , you’ve earned my subscription . My son is looking to start solar panel cleaning . What gardener pole you recommend? Length ? Brush ? If he got the unger hydropower , would that be enough to pump the water up the pole to reach the solar ?
Depends on the tap pressure. If you want to clean solar panels from the ground you will need 35/40 foot pole. It would be much easier if you could get a platform up to roof level.
If you dont get a kick back from them now you never will mate 😂 Only ever used gardiner and they've never let me down (touch wood) Great review mate 👍👍
Cheers Ashley.....I've a real conundrum Gardiner slx carbon? the thing is i love Gardiner brush attachments etc... Or Ova8?? Could i use Gardiner with it???? Cheers Ashley I'd really value your opinion. Andrew
@@aemackintosh Thanks Ashley 😊 is the clamp/pole wear good on the Gardiner slx as i am very drawn to it, also budget is a thing to consider....full carbon or there hi mod version if they do. Luckily ive got a few months to decide. Much appreciated your view and many thanks Andrew

Slx22 is a good pole to start with until the sections start spinning, give it a few months and they will. Really annoying and time consuming. Gardiner's lack of warranty is annoying as most of their stuff wears quickly. Clamps are too tight and wear the carbon. It's a toss up with buying more expensive items first or going with gardiner when you start and then realise there is better quality out there. But as you said they are popular with lots of wfp window cleaners. My next pole is a hi-mod "Smart-pole", phantom clamps and streamline end cap, rhino hose or teleskopic, but always xline brushes with rinse bar! Enjoy!
I’ve been doing this thing where I don’t always fully close each section, so it doesn’t wear that bit directly under each clamp. Might help it last longer? But you shouldn’t have to add anything or modify it really, it should be designed better in the first place I suppose?🤔👍🏼
@@aemackintosh in theory it would always wear the part of the pole it's touches most? So if you have it open slightly or closed it will wear if the clamps are wrong or the carbon is a lesser grade. I thought about switching to phantom clamps, I might do that as mine needs daily adjustment and see if it effects the problem?
@@darrenbrown622 there are a few poles I prefer, Xline Nano, Ova8 HM and Unger NLite, all have superior clamps, don’t wear as bad and are more rigid being HM and before anyone mentions the Xtreme, I had one and it felt so brittle I was scared to use it….
Used to be my choice of pole, until I discovered the Phathom Pole & it's no contest. Personally find nothing smart about the Gardiner smart clamps either! No matter how well you look after the pole, you're guaranteed to have a headache with spinning sections, within 12 months! Also, find Gardiner customer service really poor & they absolutely do not stand over warranties! Such arrogance, it put me right off them, id never purchase from them again! Thanks for upload Ashley, always appreciate the videos.
It got quite worn and became a bit awkward to work with. I wanted to try a few other brands, but I will probably come back to the Ova8 at some point.😃👍🏼

@@aemackintosh I noticed you had a couple of the sections slightly apart, is it wearing already? I had the slx, drove me mad. Had my Boss carbon 22 for 2 years now, still fabulous can't remember last time I adjusted the clamps.
Yeah, I’ve seen that boss pole, seems pretty good. Yeah, so I’ve been making a point of not necessarily closing each section all the way, so it doesn’t wear in that one place so quickly. Good plan?🤔
@@aemackintosh The clamps on the Boss poles have a rubber lining so it doesn't wear the carbon. Wherever you regularly clamp the gardiner pole the hard plastic clamp will quickly wear the sections. can't understand why gardiner haven't figured this out. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
