Hello, I’m a bit late to comment on your video. I loved it, tried turning the master volume to 10 on my ac15 and loved the outcome. My question is: could keeping the master volume at 10 affect the life of the amp?
love vox amps... i own an AC15HW... it has a bright switch on normal channel that gives out all that chime... without the bright switch on, normal channel seems to be darker than normal channel on this version of AC15... any experience? am i right?
@@BuddaGuedes yes, and i think it is done to nails right that old tone... i mostly play it with bright switch on and a boss ge7 to shape the tone when needed. a really great option
Bill Carson, because the ac15c1 has a fixed bright cap into the normal channel volume control. That's why it will sound darker in your "special" Vox Ac15 version. If you turn the bright switch off you will remove that bright cap from the volume control, hence the darker tone. If you want it a just little less bright only when it is turned off you have to add a bright cap to your volume control and "deduct" that bright cap value from the bright cap in the switch, because they will add to each other when the switch is on. Simple!
VOX AC15 is great in 2 guitar, bass, drums band. With pedal and clean sounds... No problem fitting inside the mix... Paired with ext. Cabinet, it is loud and other band members ask me to turn down :(
Hi Budda, great review and playing like always…Compared to Harley Benton tube 15 with a good celestion speaker like the Creamback 65, would it be much difference in quality tone with this Vox ac15?
The latest AC30s in my local store (just reopened after a loooong lockdown) are set-up like the AC15, with gain and master - but ofc there are differences like Hi/Lo input etc
amazing !!! one question , i use ac15c1 for home use, Master volumen should be always all the way up? , does it affect to either normal or boost channel in terms of distorsion?
I'm looking to buy my frist tube amp (a huge upgrade from my Marshall MG15GR) and this Vox seems very great. The thing is I use OD and Distortion Pedals and I need a good pedal platform for these. Would you say this will take such rock/hard rock tone pedals well? And yeah this is probably the best review of the amp I've watched so far ;)
I think it could work. It’s very rock n roll, Marshall sounding. But it’s not bassy Think of Brian May’s tone. In love small amp and the reverb and tremolo are super great. Here’s an affiliate link for the amp. If you buy it from here Amazon will give me a small commission. amzn.to/3mcOgKh Thanks
A bateria soa a Nico. Ja ouvi umas 10 vezes, acho mesmo muito bom. Se for bem desenvolvido dentro desse esquema e com uma letra porreira, pode ser um hit mundial!
That PRS sounds wonderful, what are those humbuckers? Since Vox has all that midrange character, what kind of of humbuckers would your recommend for a semi-hollow center block style guitar? Maybe some Seth Lover's? Great review, keep it up!

good review, but i honestly cannot comprehend how anybody would refer to the AC30 or AC15 as beeing "too midrangy" if anything they are known for their lack of midrange
Every one of those amps is midrangy specially compared to the mid scooped of blackface fenders. I prefere the fender topology for what I do, but I love the fox midrange, that’s why I own a 1966 AC30 and a Lead 125, as well as a bassman combo, a Marshall Master Lead and a Super Bass, and I also have my Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic 100 with EL34 tubes , voiced a lot like a Marshall. Saying they are too midrangy for me doesn’t means they are bad. It means I prefere the blackface Tone and feel.
@@BuddaGuedes Maybe it is a problem with the terminology. To me Tweed amps and old Marshalls have a lot (!) more mid "bump" than any VOX. So if a VOX is "too midrangy" they would have to be off the scale. But i get what you are saying. All the best! Cheers!

I have both Marshall DSl100H, Marshall 1974X and VOX AC15. The most of time I play with my rock band a VOX AC15. At home I use a VOX NT. Marshall 1974X is a fantastic amp but not so easy to use, specially at home. It is not a "allround" amp as VOX AC15. Marshall DSL100H is a fantastic big amp and I think that it has even better clean sound than VOX, but it is to big for many situations. I think VOX AC15 or VOX NT is the way to go.
Thanks again for sharing
@@zundap100 yeah man the 1974x is absolutely unusable at home. waaaay to loud if you want it to drive. but at the same time that is part of the fun i guess
Yes it is
Hello,
I’m a bit late to comment on your video. I loved it, tried turning the master volume to 10 on my ac15 and loved the outcome. My question is: could keeping the master volume at 10 affect the life of the amp?
I don’t think It will make a Big difference, but it will wear the power tubes a little more. But we’re talking about 35 years of longevity
love vox amps... i own an AC15HW... it has a bright switch on normal channel that gives out all that chime... without the bright switch on, normal channel seems to be darker than normal channel on this version of AC15... any experience? am i right?
I haven’t played one yet but it looks normal to me. Old Vox are very dark
@@BuddaGuedes yes, and i think it is done to nails right that old tone... i mostly play it with bright switch on and a boss ge7 to shape the tone when needed. a really great option
That’s a really great way to use it
Bill Carson, because the ac15c1 has a fixed bright cap into the normal channel volume control. Simple!
Thanks for sharing
VOX AC15 is great in 2 guitar, bass, drums band. With pedal and clean sounds... No problem fitting inside the mix... Paired with ext. Cabinet, it is loud and other band members ask me to turn down :(
😂
Ac15 is great amp
Thanks a lot
Hi Budda, great review and playing like always…Compared to Harley Benton tube 15 with a good celestion speaker like the Creamback 65, would it be much difference in quality tone with this Vox ac15?
I’ll have to compare it!! It’s a different beast but not that different
@@BuddaGuedes Could you give more details? I really value your opinion
I’ll do an episode comparing both!
@@BuddaGuedes Great!!!!!
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Doesn't the latest iteration of the AC 30 have a master vol so you can still get the over-driven slurpy goodness at low levels, as with the AC 15?
I think so but keep in mind it’s two different drives and feel
The newest AC30 has an attenuator. I don’t remember specific settings, but it was something like: 30, 5, 1.
The latest AC30s in my local store (just reopened after a loooong lockdown) are set-up like the AC15, with gain and master - but ofc there are differences like Hi/Lo input etc
@@madcat5965 when did that happen? That isn't a feature on the newer AC30s at my local music store(s).
I think their AC30s are circa 2017-19
I don’t really understand your comment
Beautiful sound, great videos, I do have a question if you may :) where did you get thoses beautiful lights decorating your amps !
Hey there: the lights are regular Christmas lights for exterior
The slide tone and technique was beautiful. did you use the ac-15 for that? any other pedals?
Yes. I used the ac15
Always that thick muddy tone when overdrive.
Did you ever run the Blues Jr. and AC15 in stereo? Because I will soon have both, and that seems like a cool idea.
It’s a great idea in paper!! I’ll put it to the test. Thanks for the tip
Great demo, next one with overdrive and delay pedals, please, greetings from Spain Budda
Thanks a lot.
l!!!what will be the best pedals to go with a vox ac 15 c1 for soloing??
Any kind of boosts will do a great job or light overdrive. Fuzz pedal will also be good.
Sounds like there is a octave pedal on or something towards the start of the video. Weird
amazing !!! one question , i use ac15c1 for home use, Master volumen should be always all the way up? , does it affect to either normal or boost channel in terms of distorsion?
It affects the overall amp because you have overdrive from the power section and from the pre section
Hi budda, which amp do you think is better in sustaining and for blues? fender blues jr tweed(no mods) or vox ac15c1(no mods).
I would go with the blues junior
I'm looking to buy my frist tube amp (a huge upgrade from my Marshall MG15GR) and this Vox seems very great. The thing is I use OD and Distortion Pedals and I need a good pedal platform for these. Would you say this will take such rock/hard rock tone pedals well? And yeah this is probably the best review of the amp I've watched so far ;)
I think it could work. It’s very rock n roll, Marshall sounding. But it’s not bassy
Think of Brian May’s tone.
In love small amp and the reverb and tremolo are super great.
Here’s an affiliate link for the amp. If you buy it from here Amazon will give me a small commission. amzn.to/3mcOgKh
Thanks
GReat demo..your chanel is amazing...on question diferences abut the greenback vs celestion alnico blue?
Thanks a lot. I haven’t tested the blue alnico
Did you add compression? or is this 100% raw? Great video
This is as it was sounding in the room
Qual é o primeiro instrumental a abrir o vídeo? É um original? Está muito bom, se é um original pode dar uma boa música.
É um original sim
A bateria soa a Nico. Ja ouvi umas 10 vezes, acho mesmo muito bom. Se for bem desenvolvido dentro desse esquema e com uma letra porreira, pode ser um hit mundial!
Não é-o Nico mas é inspirado nele
Budda any chance we get to hear how the AC15 takes fuzz faces? (analogman bc183 and such) Many thanks :)
the ac15 was not mine. i just got it for the episode. but you can hear it on the episode I compare it to my blues junior.
@@BuddaGuedes You ''made it yours'' ;)
I’m planning on getting one sometime
@@BuddaGuedes Just so you'll know I would LOVE to hear more of the BC183. different amps or stacking options. Much love.
Thanks for letting me know. I use it occasionally
Excelente vídeo!
Obrigado
If you close your eyes, it sounds like he's saying "Mustard Volume".
😂😂😂
That PRS sounds wonderful, what are those humbuckers? Since Vox has all that midrange character, what kind of of humbuckers would your recommend for a semi-hollow center block style guitar? Maybe some Seth Lover's?
Great review, keep it up!
My favorite humbucker are LINDY Fralin Pure PAF
Fralin pure paf, Seth lovers, lollar imperial or the excellent duesenberg grand vintage.
in your opinion, which amp has (1) better bass response and (2) sounds less boxy: AC15 or BJr?
It’s hard to tell because they are different.
Watch the episode where I compare both
Vox is less boxy and has better bass response at high volume. BJr has better bass with low volume
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow you got real expertise => SUBSCRIBED 😁
Thanks a lot
@@BuddaGuedes Very cool band too! 👍
Thanks a lot
Great review!
How did you recorded the sound of amp, with microphone or direct?
Always a microphone
@@BuddaGuedes It sounds really clean, how you get rid of amp hiss?
I didn’t do nothing to remove it.
@@BuddaGuedes for example at 24:02 when you speak there is some hiss in behind, but few sec later when you start to play there is almost no hiss. I'm asking because I'm looking for amp that I can record. Now I have Bassbreaker, great amp for live, but too much hiss for recording.
The hiss is just capture by the vocal mic, because it’s too sensitive.
Does it have the Alnico blue?
I think this has the greenback
What version is this?
This is the new one with the blue alnico speaker
If someday you want to change the ac15c1 into an "ac30 with 15 watts" , let me know. A few spots in the circuit will get you there in both channels. 😀
Thanks
I'm curious about this
@@barnshart9662 interested? Send me your mail.
O was too
@@BuddaGuedes email?
Is it enough loud to gig ?
Yes it is
Omg yes lol
@@boywonders thanks !!😉🤗🤗🤗
The only thing it doesn't do good is surf , you need a fender or something very clean , but is the perfect amp for rock. PERIOD
Even got surf you would be surprised!!!
@@BuddaGuedes by the way , great demo , your music sounds so soothing and organic #yeahh
Thanks a lot
Yes it does! Use the normal channel and an adequate spring reverb which is this regard the fender has the best for the purpose.
Thanks for sharing
good review, but i honestly cannot comprehend how anybody would refer to the AC30 or AC15 as beeing "too midrangy"
if anything they are known for their lack of midrange
Really!!!! They are all about mids!!!
@@BuddaGuedes Maybe the high mids on the border to treble. If Voxes are "too midrangy" what are old Marshalls and Fender Tweed amps in comparison?
Cheers!
To me Vox had high mids and low mids. It’s a “hard “ feeling amp. But I love it
Had one and had to sell it because of life. ☹️
It happens. Life comes first. Good news: you can always buy one when it’s more appropriate!
Stay safe
That amp and guitar is scream play Sweet Home Alabama
Eh! Eh!
and ... what abou AC10 ??!??!
I’ve never played one
Very different from ac15 and ac30. Entire circuitry is different. Go for the 15 if possible
It’s a cool amp
Am I the only one who ears a lot of ghost notes? Sometimes it sounds like an octaver, weird...
Hello you are good
