T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

I wake up every morning to one of my favourite Alan Watts quotes, I had it framed in my bedroom wall "The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves."

I was fortunate to encounter Sensei Watts at the age of 14 - I read many many of his books, some I read several times… I listened to hours and hours of his ‘dharma talks’ both recorded and on video… I’m 77 years old now and… I have to say he was one of the wisest, hippest, most inspirational, and most intelligent individuals I have encountered on this planet in the past 63 years. Ever so GRATEFUL. Thank you Sensei.

When I was a child in the 70s my aunt and uncle were really into The lectures and literature of Mr.Watts. these people were unlike any other people I knew. They never got angry or loud or stressed out at least in front of I and my two cousins. I remember thinking as I got older into my teens how I wanted to be like them
However I just now started to figure things out at 51 but I see how wonderful this world and life here can be. Thanks for uploading his teachings and thanks Mark and Allan

This is exactly what I've been trying to explain to humanity. we all and everything around us are part of a picture only few choose to see. Most choose to only see their part of the story. When there is so much more to it than that. Our systems have trapped our minds made us focus on only our selves. We need to step out of the box we put our selves in. And look for our selves so we can see the real picture.

I believe that all this information that Alan speaks in this recording, is information out there to tune into for a sensitive person who has a long, long journey behind him or her. It amazes me that I have come to the same conclusion than Alan. I love listening to him. Any human being can come to the same conclusion, it is there for all of us to discover. While I understand that Alan Watts wasn't some messiah or all-knowing guru, and that he had his flaws and shortcomings just like everyone does, I still can't help but feel a certain kind of... "spiritual respect" for him. Maybe his ideas weren't completely original and maybe he wasn't a serious, respectable, academic philosopher in the way that serious, respectable, academic philosophers define themselves. So what? Who cares? He was still uniquely talented at taking ideas and perspectives which are fundamentally incompatible with the traditional western worldview, and translating them not only into terms we can understand and resonate with, but do so in a way which is entertaining and pleasant to listen to. That's not something everyone is able to do, and I remain grateful that he chose to do so. I am a more well-rounded human being because Alan Watts gave and recorded so many lectures.

We do understand the immense complexity of life by using symbols and all their probabilistic outcomes. Why we are here is like asking heads or tails when in reality both occur. You cant learn a lesson from “change” with all possible outcomes but you can live this one outcome. Aka one life at a time.

I wish people wouldn’t keep putting emotive sounds and music to Alan Watts’ lectures. It kinda goes against the point of them. Let people hear what he says without being veered into how to feel what he says

If he thought music would help I’m sure he’d have played it. He’s very matter of fact and that is the skill and beauty of his words. He doesn’t need other people encouraging a mood manipulation

Notice you never hear him speak in discussion with others. He is always a pronouncement.

I have been traveling quite a lot lately and I can say that "I" is repeating itself everywhere. For instance, if I had a time machine and I could go back 4000 years and pinch a baby and let it grow up in this time, it wouldn't be different than anyone else. In other words, our technology, coupled with knowledge, is our tool, mentally as well as physically. Unfortunately, we all obsessively cling to the past, even though the future is Hier. So help the future to thrive or keep your psychological mouth shut.

0:31: 🤔 Most of the things we experience are regarded as things that happen to us, expressing some sort of power or activity that is external to ourselves.
1:15: Blaming our parents for our situation in life is a passive way of looking at the world.
3:49: 🔍 The video discusses the different points of view and levels of magnification in perceiving the external world.
5:16: Different levels of magnification provide different points of view, all of which are correct.
7:06: 🌌 The space in which events occur is an essential function of those events.
7:58: The illusion that space separates things must be overcome in order to understand this perspective.
9:02: Space is an essential function of the things in it.
