This game doesn't know when to end a level. That's the phrase that comes to mind when I think about the repetitiveness of the game, the various stages within the levels, the repetitive hordes of enemies, when you think you've finished the level and then there are more... and that wore out the experience for me. This game was a challenge in several aspects. First, getting used to the gameplay. I've already finished the three Ace Combats and found them to be a more relaxed gameplay experience. Second, because there are many levels where you have to protect someone, or get through within a time limit, and I HATE that in a game. Third, because of the frantic need to keep pressing X, since I had to resort to primary fire a lot because I didn't have enough missiles, and that wore out my tendons, and a little more this game would give me RSI. And that happened because I played the game in the simplest way... I went through the main missions, and without hunting for secrets and collectibles, after all, if the game allows you to progress like that it's because it's not necessary... right? RIGHT? Well... it's not quite like that. When you get to the end of the game, it becomes clear that certain weapons hidden in previous stages will be missed. And the peak was mission 15. At this point in the channel, this was the BIGGEST challenge I faced among all the other games, and I really thought it would be impossible to continue because there were so few weapons. I looked for guides on the internet, videos on UA-cam, and found very few references, and of those, everyone reached this mission with lots of missiles and resources. So I had to develop an ORIGINAL STRATEGY for this mission, something new, not yet reported. Here I did use the savestate to replay each stage of the mission several times, to find and fine-tune strategies, until I succeeded. After more than 6 hours, I managed to get through this mission from start to finish. I had to be a pro player, precise, and alternate between going very slowly with going extremely aggressive at the right moment. The only thing that really upset me was that the recording had a problem JUST when I was passing this mission. Of the dozens or almost a hundred times I played, it recorded normally, and right at that final moment, there was a problem with the audio, it stopped recording, I had to pause, try to solve it, it didn't work, I went back and passed the mission without audio. Then I restarted and the game went back to normal. Even with luck, I'm unlucky. Speaking of bad luck, there was a mission that I passed, it reached the time limit that I needed to protect a ship, and then when the message to clear sector appeared, and the mission complete message was about to appear, I heard an explosion in the background... I had destroyed the ship, and then the mission failure screen appeared. I failed AFTER completing the mission. And when I thought I had gotten through everything with this game, in the final mission, when I got to the pod, I was given two options, I chose X and... game over. I had to play AGAIN, get to that option again, to choose square, and then I had the mission accomplished. I thought that was unfair to the player, but anyway, it was a relief to have put an end to the suffering of playing this game. Or not? Even after I stopped playing, when I went to sleep, the repetitive music of this game kept echoing in my head. I recommend it to anyone who likes a plane/ship simulator or a challenge.
