I will see if I have any of these guitar mistakes and maybe explain those in more detail and give some tips to play the guitar even better. By no means I am a pro guitar player, but I am sure closer to your skill level than to Brandon's - this might help you understand some of those electric guitar mistakes even better.

Angling my fingers is way easier for fast passages for me. I've done that for over 20 years 😀 I also have to disagree with the thumb thing a bit. It depends on what you're doing but I do both.

I am a lot better at Hendrix grip done it long enough that it’s actually better for me to play that way than the other way. I got good flexible fingers so my fingers will do pretty much the same in the Hendrix grip and I love using my thumb. Plus my influences are Hendrix, Mayer, SRV and bb so all the people who used this grip.
