68 people were rescued from a small boat off the coast of Spain. during the rescue it was dicovered there was 5 people who passed away during the trip. Regent Seven Seas has a new class off cruise ship coming out. Princess Cruise Lines announces a way to make double the loyalty points this year.

Princess offering the double points is great, especially for those of us that have been at higher reward levels on other cruise lines. Another reason to continue cruising with Princess!

I agree the ship should be completely ready before selling one single cabin. I have never dryised with Princess, yet.
Those regent ships are beautiful. We have been looking at them and silver seas. That's awesome what princess is doing. That is a very good incentive for the guests.
Already Elite, so double points do not matter, but great for those it does help. Some nice little perks that make your trips with Princess even better.
Double cruise points is always cool.

Don, Princess announced the double pts. for cruises sailing Aug. 1st to Dec. 1st....your group cruise (which we're booked on, with the Plus pkg.) sails on Dec. 7th, so after the promotion ends, it appears.

Great rescue at sea. Deceased passengers were deceased before the rescue took place.

I was a bit confused cause he said 5 died but then 3 (or 2?) were rescued. I think he meant recovered?
Can you imagine picking up 68 people and they all have weapons! 68 trained people can take control of a cruise ship. No thank you.

Great news about Princess as I will be on your group cruise in December.
What are the dates? We will be sailing on the Sun in December.
I’d rather wait for the ship to be completely ready than to be in a ship early.

Points are only worth $0.02 approximately. You aren’t missing-out much. Perhaps $60 value in points
I would love to double my loyalty points…but was on a cruise last month and doubt I can afford another cruise this year on retirement funds. Unless I go back to work….NOT! LOL
@Girasole5849 POINTS are worth approximately 0.02 dollars per point… that means the double points are only $60 in terms of what you get back in rewards.
Basically you aren’t missing much.
Also you don’t double your existing points. You only earn double on the current purchase. So a $3000 cruise earns 6000 points
When will you be sailing on the Sun Princess in December?
The Princess website says "Guests sailing on any Princess cruise that departs between August 1, 2024 and December 1, 2024 who add the Princess Plus package OR the Princess Premier package to their booking. The Princess Plus or Princess Premier package must be added to the booking at least 2 days prior to embarkation day. "
So I don't think that applies to us on the mid december cruise?

Are you sure we get double points on your group cruise? Princess posting states "Purchase Princess Plus or Princess Premier at least two days before you sail, between August 1 through December 1, 2024." The group cruise is December 7th, 2024.

That's awful with that rescue. Sad that people think they have no option other than doing that.
Recently in Mexico we rescued a boat of 28 people, 3 of which were kids. Imagine what you would be running from if you took your kids.

I think cruise lines need to build in more cushion time between promised ship delivery and first cruise. I think it is truly unfair for passengers who expect the finished experience to miss out on shows, special dining experiences, etc that are advertised. It was weeks after Sun Princess started sailing before many of these were ready.
The Princess double points offer sounds generous but I don't understand it. The offer announced now is for cruises you sail from August through December. However, won't everyone have booked their cruises at this point? This surely cannot result in bringing new business and really only rewards people who have already booked.
Many people book last minute, because they know there are sales on unsold cabins

BY doing this rush to Elite promo, I would hope that soon they will add another loyalty level for those who have really earned it. I feel bad for people who have been loyal to Princess for years seeing this promo. Works out for me either way in next couple of months cruises already booked, but ya. Kinda a cheap shot. Imo
@ninerjen1 NAH double points is basically the same as Buy 1 shirt Get 1 free. Instead of double shirts it’s double points. Caesars rewards, McDonalds rewards, Hilton rewards, etc have all done this incentive.
Even employers sometimes have deals like this (work holidays to get double dollars). Your complaint is greedy and selfish. BE HAPPY when your fellow citizens get bonuses or sales, instead of miserable like Oscar the grouch

Giving double points towards a loyalty bonus scheme is not really on. We are both Elite with Princess and since it started have taken the plus or premier packages too. We have earned our loyalty status by being repeat customers year after year so by doing this quick and cheap bonus makes us feel undervalued as customers. Maybe thats what they are trying to tell people especially when the loyalty benefits seem to dwindle each year.
That's why you shouldn't be loyal to any business!

Some passengers complained rescuing the stranded people in the raft. They thought the ship just continue sailing. Just leave the stranded people behind.

Don't like what princess did. We have worked and booked and paid hard to get to elite. Seems like princess doesn't care about elite. It's $$$$$ and no perks for loyalty. Never have we been upgraded in 56 cruises and not recognized either. Sad!
