Good video loke always. I recently switched from a pure aero to a blade and it mixed up my game. I went back and enjoyed the pure aero a whole lot more.
For me it's about specs and finding the right string.
1.What weight to do feel comfortable with. But to lite is not really good in competitive environment. Go as heavy where you still feel comfortable. For some that will be above 300 grams. For other it will be lower.
2. Search for the swingweight you like.
3 Experiment with the Ra value of the frames most sitts between 55-72
4 What is your budget
5 What balance do you prefer?
6 what headsize of frame do you prefer?
7 What stringpatern does suit you best ? Open= more forgiving or a 18*20 for instence= more controle
Once's you know the answers to question 1 to 7 you know what specs you want. From that point on your selection of potential buys will be shorted greatly.
After that begins the String testing
What do you want, comfort (mutli) or controle (mono) or maybe mixed both (hybrid) test different tensions, high (control), low (comfort/power) stiffer or less stiffer string. for instence a Poly Tour pro feels totally different than a 4G string although there both mono's.
So making a choice is not that hard, it just a lot of work :P
Jonas, you do a great job!😀I’m 72, probably a 3.5-3.8, good athlete, can run well .... My problem is that I’m Addicted, always chasing racquets that I hope will improve my game. I MUST MAKE A COMMITMENT, and go with it. Right now I have 360 speed mp, 2nd gen 18x20 pure strike, Head 360 prestige 18x20 mp, and the 3rd generation 16x19 pure strike. Honestly, I think I better(and the teaching pro agrees) with the pure strike 18x20 and the speed mp . My default stringing is the Babolat hybrid vs/blast... I’m sort of screwed up... love watching your videos, and trust you opinions and comments, but it feeds my addiction. Anyways, continue to do a great job delivering a quality product, and play on!!!🎾🎾🎾

I wish you mentioned the brands - Yonex, Wilson, Babalot - not just the category.
I play with the Burn 95 FST (I've always used 95 sq in heads), hit with a massive amount of topspin and prefer the feel of the racquet because it's pretty stiff but very responsive.

Hi I am new to your chanel and I really enjoy it. J would like to know what you would recommend for me. I used to play alot if tennis when I was younger, now I'm 53 and can't run as much anymore, the footwork is gone, however I use to be at a 5.5-6.0 not anymore. I used to use the Wilson Prostaff 85 Sampras, and still have them. I loved it and serving was and probably still is my weapon.
I currently have a Babolat Pure drive with the old strings, but I tend to go back to my pro staff 88 which was a limited edition, I love the feel and power but now simply too heavy and has I hired my shoulder. I have also lived using the Head prestige classic around the same time as my PS 85, I have a single backhand, live to volley, when I can now, more flatter forehand and occasional topspin.
I was thinking if the Babolat Aero maybe, not sure. I wouldn't mind loonh at the Head range again but definitely not the Classic, it would she too heavy and stiff for me . I'm in Australia Gold Coast. Look forward to hear what you have to say.

If you want a powerful easy racket for a social player who plays from the base line, try a babolat pure drive with hyper G strings,so easy...amazing... I was on that racket for a long time as I had tennis elbow so wanted a lighter (Team) more powerful racket and its very easy andfun but eventually i wanted more control too so I wentto an Ezone 98 with alu power rough strings and its lovely:)
i think i’m a 4.0 player i like going to the net and being in control of the point early and i have no injuries do you think my level is high enough to play with the latest pro staff97 great video btw
What you recommend to playerss with arm issue and massive top spin forehand and flat backhand? I used customized vcore95 as you said wasnt so good with topspin. Now im using gravity pro, awesome for backhand normal for forehand. I was wondering abou prestige mp (Same spec what i used on vcore95, too headlight for backhand) , speed pro and clash98 :D

Jonas, love the videos and info. I’m an out of shape (Covid) 4.0-4.5. Playing with the ultra 100 counterveil. Added weight(335g total still same balance as stock) play with natural (mains), alu rough 125mm. Been looking for something that sings but haven’t found it completely in this setup. Testing the 95 vcore, prestige pro, gravity MP. Do you have any suggestions? The ultra hits great and then doesn’t. Appreciate it and all your videos.
Gravity MP you will find too light. Check out 360+ Speed Pro, good all court stick and comfortable.

I have used the Ezone 98 for awhile now. However, when I play doubles I use the Ezone 98+ for more stability on volleys and more powerful serves. Do you agree with this strategy or am I just over thinking things? Great video Jonas
I think that’s not a bad idea - using a different racquet for doubles does make some sense
My kids are 13 my daughter plays with ultra 100l my son plays with pure aero team I feel they are over hitting so I am thinking of putting head rip control string in they're racquets and higher tension like 57 is this the right idea for giving them more control

Definitely some solid advice on how to choose a racquet. For me, I am fairly self-taught 4.0.4.5 player that has been playing for 30 years and more of an aggressive baseline player with some arm issues. I am more of a flattish hitter but also hit some topspin and have a semi-western forehand grip and a one-handed backhand with a grip that's a little more extreme than eastern along with a slice backhand. I have been using the Prince Phantom 100p and the Blade v7 98 16x19 but would like some easier power but maintain decent control. Alot of people were recommending the Clash 98 but for me needs a bit more stability. I don't use poly due to some prior elbow and shoulder issues. I don't want to play with a stiff frame so I don't aggravate the arm. Do you have any other thoughts?
If you like the v7 98 - why don‘t you try the v7 Blade 100L? You can add weight and then you have a racket offering more Power and easy to play with...
@@wolleo4818 I appreciate your recommendation but the RA is way too high. The Blade v7 98 16 x 19 is very arm friendly. Need a recommendation with a lower RA.
Great information here, Jonas. My wife and I take lessons together and the pro recommended a lighter racquet for her, she was using a 10.6 ounce Babolat Pure Drive (2013 model iirc). I'm looking at the Gravity Lite or the Clash Lite for her.
Buying a Lite racquet is a recipe for Elbow Disaster .... Just add some lead in the buttcap of her current racquet to make it more headlight and that should make it more "Manoeuvrable" which I'm sure is what the coach was eluding to but had no knowledge of how to describe it.
I think a normal clash 100 or a clash 108 will do my friend. They are soft to the arm and offer a big sweet spot. Easier to play tennis with these frames.

I think jonas mentioned improving stability so lead at 3 and 9. String you can do anything, wawrinka uses RPM blast.

Ahh, 95D, so nostalgic. Lead all over the frame, 12, 3&9, a little on 6. And it'd be a beast!
We've not been able to play tennis here in the UK since just after Christmas but thankfully outdoor courts are opening again next Monday. I hope the next month passes quickly for you; yes there's much worse things that've happened in this pandemic, but I know how much it sucks not being able to play!
Should players in their mid-60's be playing with larger heads...ie...105,107, etc?

You need to experiment. What are you trying to achieve? Start with a little at 3 and 9, helps stability and increases sweet spot. 12 adds power but makes racquet harder to swing. 10 and 2 adds some of both of the above. Lead in the handle make racquet more headlight and easier to maneuver. Weight in the throat increases static weight. If you add lead to the hoop and like your current balance you must add the same amount to the handle or butt cap to retain balance. Good luck.
Hi Jay, I didn’t need to do that, no. It depends on what you feel is lacking - it has a pretty high swing weight so I’d probably add weight on/in the handle in that case
Do you do racquet consultations for wheelchair tennis players? Is their a general difference for recommendations between wheelchair and able bodied?
I can, yes. The difference is you need to hit with your arm more so a comfortable yet powerful frame sounds like the best idea
Jonas. My favorite of all time was HEAD Classic 660/Prestige. I just went through an excruciating 3 month period of being lost in racquet hell. Tried all usual suspects but ended up with Wilson Ultra Tour. Modified. 334SW. Kevlar/Gut @ 48/53. I strung second frame tighter and huge disappointment. You have to go looser I think. Play doubles exclusively. Hit much flatter than you. As always, I start thinking (bad) a bigger sweet spot would be better. Bigger frame. A modified Dunlop SX Oversize? Same flex. If it only came in 18x20. Ugh.
Maybe a Prestige Tour? Yes, string the Ultra Tour reallyn loose! Then it’s great but a bit unforgiving

Choose the right weight as well. A heavier one has really helped me.

Step 1: as a kid find a pro you love.
Step 2: choose his racket.
Step 3: be extremely passionate and copy all his strokes to the best of your ability.
Result: you'll be a decent player with a racket you love. Worked for me with the HEAD Pro Tour which I still use today. After all this time, my rackets love me back. I can feel it.

Hi, I have a racquet that has an overgrip and it's falling apart I believe because it was unused for a few years. Once I removed an overgrip the base grip also had pieces falling off it. Is this the case because I haven't used the racquet in a while, I'm guessing an urgent base grip replacement to be done? (I always played with a overgrip.

which brands/lines have longer grips for players with two-handed backhands?
The Vcore line has the longest handles I've ever played with. The shortest I've experienced had the new Prestige (MP). It's definitely for one handers.
@@WaltKurtz68 I've given PDs several tries in the past but they're not my cup of tea, simply too stiff and jarring for my wrist. I liked the easy power though.

I takes me a few hits usually, but if you don’t test racquets like I do - I would say 10 hours of hitting to get a bit more comfortable

Which style of player would the vcore 95 (version 2) be best for?
Kinda same as the Prestige. It's brilliant for one handed backhand with its smaller head size. But you have to have a solid technique with full swings. It's not a spin monster per se but with good technique you can get enough spin. It's great for a flatter style. Just keep in mind that the grip size is a bit larger compared to many other brands. If you play for instance with a 3/8 (3) Head or Wilson you can go with a 1/4 (2) Yonex.

@@aeron1758 I don't know about older models but atleast 2019 and onwards it seems to go for all their lines. I once bought a Vcore 95 (2019) with a 3/8 grip and it was pretty much as thick as my Dunlops, Wilsons and Heads with 1/2. I've been trying to go down a size from 1/2 but with this Vcore I was basically back there. I'm still using it though. 🙂
I understand you like HEAD & Wilson rackets, but there are much more out there. You avoid Yonex and Babolat, maybe because they don’t go the extra mile to help you with gear to review 🤷♂️
