Tapestry - workshop - Capital Ukrainian Festival 2021

Tapestry weaving, amongst other types of craft, is the carrier of a powerful source of living energy, which affects the environment and the viewer. Through the touch of the artist’s hand, the natural materials that are used, and the colossal power of the hundreds of hours of meditation that go into its making, this energy accumulates and is transmitted into the final piece. Thanks to this great energy, gobelin tapestries and textile collages are the beauty and highlight of any interior. They hold a special place in Ukrainian culture, and in the Carpathian region in particular, where they have a direct connection to the millennia-old weaving craft and artistic expression of the people. Myroslava Boikiv, master gobelin weaver, originally from the Kosiv region, will offer a glimpse into this rich Ukrainian art, little known beyond her homeland, with a tour into her studio.
