I just got back from Puerto Rico 3 weeks ago and i still listen to WAPA radio. Basically Puerto Ricans calling in all day talking about the country, politics, economy, etc. Its not something that would interest alot of young listeners but if someone wants to know about whats going in Puerto Rico, you will learn listening to this channel.

@@bluntera-spiral4208YESS!! I’m so happy that I can find so many ppl with the same problems, I only know things like how to address family members, like mami titi Abuela Abuelo, my mami can only understand Spanish and is too busy to help teach me. And it’s hard bc of diff dialect! The most common type of Spanish is Mexican so I never know if it’s right or not. Another thing is that my dad is white, it’s so hard to try and figure out more abt ur OWN culture when u haven’t beeen around it much.

I'm an American who grew up near Mexico so I'm used to Mexican Spanish. Over 30 years ago I went to Puerto Rico and it took about 3 days before I could understand what people were saying. Once I figured out how they were pronouncing certain words I picked up the patterns. My point is it really doesn't take too long to understand another dialect if you have already become fluent in one. You just have to learn the pronunciation patterns and the slang.

Fun video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

O sea, If you wanna speak to people about Jesus, you just have to learn Spanish in general. I mean if you want to learn more church turns, you can watch sermons in Spanish and SPanish Christian music. I like 116. I like maverick city music (the Spanish version) other than that I just listen to the popular christian songs from English in Spanish. As far as sermons, Hector Delgado de PR. I like a church called NH sermones (Nuevo Horizonte) i think they are in Atlanta. There is Casa church here in Miami.

Just so you know, I really appreciate you as a Black American and what you have accomplished in Spanish. It gives me hope. Just wanted to make a little correction. Le Juan James' mother is NOT Boricua. She is Dominican. His FATHER is Puerto Rican. Le Juan has more of a Dominican flavor.

I’m Puerto rican and it just fucking sucks being the only Puerto Rican of the family not able to speak Spanish. It really takes a toll on your mental and emotional health and sometimes i struggle with identity issues like “am i even Puerto rican” ugh it sucks ass 😣 But thanks for your help!

With Venezuelan Spanish a thing that fucks with me, is that I can identify them even if their accent is slight. I *know* the accent. I can't reproduce it for my life. My gf is Spanish and Venezuelan (lived in both places, her accent is Venezuelan though) and I can't for the life of me reproduce it, despite being able to identify what makes it different than others. I can even tell what town people are from sometimes.
My grandparents were Puerto Rican, so I refer to myself as a defective heritage speaker. Because even though I'm a learner, pronunciation was never an issue for me, and I started out with more knowledge of the language than others... But doing accents is not my skill rn and I really wanna

Some people are naturally better at imitating accents than others. Even if it’s not a strength of yours, anyone could achieve it if they do some deliberate practice and take it at their own pace.

I want to learn Puerto Rican Spanish because that’s what my grandfather spoke. I don’t know neutral Spanish. Would it be easier to learn neutral Spanish first and than Puerto Rican Spanish or to jump straight into Puerto Rican spanish

    •  2 роки тому +2

It's all the same spanish, it's just the accents and the regional phrases that you have to also learn.

Anyone know where I can find the words that PR Spanish replaces? Ex: dinero-chavó. Also if I put my iPhone into “PR Spanish” is it really in PR Spanish or is it just Spanish.

I left PR when I was a tween and I'm looking to improve my Spanish as an adult. I'm not a beginner, but I'm also not advanced. I'm super rusty and looking for maybe a language program that can meet me where I'm at. Do you have any resources that might help?
