Where did America put their natives? Ooh in reservations. Why should anyone give up their current state of the art social security network to get fuked over by a failed US system?
Well, firstly, Alaska surely hasn’t been ravaged by environmental exploitation as the earth-worshippers would have all believe. Rather, Alaskans have prospered from their state’s resources. It should go just as well for Greenlanders, most of whom are currently settled along its southeaster rim, particularly in the city of Ruuk. There would, however, be at least this one problem with Greenland coming in with the status of US statehood - its excessively low population. Right now, the average population of a congressional district (CD) is somewhere around ¾ of a million. The state with the currently lowest population of a CD is Wyoming, with under 700,000. Trump recently suggested more realistically that Greenland might be combined into single state with Maine, which already has two CDs. In this arrangement, Maine would continue to have its two CDs, since the addition 56,000 to its population would not significantly affect its total. Nearby Iceland, however, does have a population of 393,600 people. If icy Iceland were to come in along with Greenland, it may be at least marginably justifiable for these two islands to enter as a single new state. Might the Icelanders actually like such a new arrangement ?
Greenland will easily turn into a well planned State of AI or smart cities and towns with a real international airport and seaport for immigrants from Europe and the Americas. Because it's a new place, there'll be lots of jobs and low cost of living.
Says every promotional video of every coloniser throughout history that only seeks to exploit the resources of their new colony. I only hope that IF this goes ahead, a) the Greenlandic people get to vote on any changes, b) that their heritage, customs and way of life will be respected, and their natural habitats persevered and c) that one's the resources are depleted and the Arctic Ocean freezes over again, so all Arctic trade routes are closed, the U.S. won't just discard the empty husk of what is left of Greenland. And I say this as an Aussie conservative who is pro-Trump and the U.S.
