- Upon completion of this chapter and related course assignments, students will be able to summarize the types of medical, safety, and operations equipment carried on emergency vehicles. Completing regular vehicle inspections is very important. There are dangers to consider while operating an emergency vehicle in emergency mode and safety guidelines that should be followed while driving the emergency vehicle. The risk of operating the emergency vehicle in emergency mode should be analyzed and additional risks during travel and transport need to be considered. Issues of safety also need to be considered for air medical transport, particularly when preparing a landing zone and approaching the aircraft.This chapter will help the student understand their operational roles and responsibilities to ensure the safety of themselves, their patients, and the public.
